Chapter 33 – Showing Special Courtesy

Monday after school.

Today is the day of the student council meeting.

There are six student council members, including me.

This is a busy time of the month due to the many different school events during this period of the second term.

I really want to spend time after school with Moriyama-kun, but we can’t do that at school, so there’s nothing I can do about it.

My role in the student council is mainly as treasurer.

I organize applications for next year’s departmental budgets and prepare materials for review.

Prepare budget allocation documents for school festivals.

Prepare equipment budget provision for each class.

Dispose of miscellaneous daily expenses.

Sort through a lot of applications and receipts, scrutinizing their contents and entering data.

Look through the materials on the status and performance of each activity and briefly summarize its content for an easier review process.

Prepare application form submission notices for distribution to each class and department.

And other stuff like that…

Student council activities are scheduled to be held two days a week, so it’s inevitable that the student council members will stay late during this period.

I made an appointment with Moriyama-kun today as well, but if it looks like I’ll be late, I’ll call him to cancel.

Uhuu~~~

I can’t wait to finish and see Moriyama-kun…

While I was working silently, thinking about Moriyama-kun, the secretary from the same second year made a proposal to the student council president.

“President, there is a lot of work at this time of year, can you get more personnel to help?”

“More personnel, huh? Well, it would certainly be nice to have one or two more people helping out.”

“If you have a friend or someone who might be able to help, do you mind bringing them along?”

Hmm!?

I’ve just had an epiphany!

“I’ll check with our advisor in the meantime. If we’re given permission, I’ll scout out some helpers for a limited time.”

“Um! I can think of one person! I’d like to discuss it with you as soon as possible today, is that okay?”

“An acquaintance of Urushibara-san? With your recommendation, I would have no doubt. I’m going to talk to our advisor now, so can I ask you to go ahead and talk to him?”

“Understood!”

Fufufu…

Even on days when I have student council activities, this will allow me to spend more time with Moriyama-kun.

Moriyama-kun doesn’t like to show off, so he tries to keep himself out of the public eye, but as her mother’s story shows, he was originally a talented person and his abilities should not be a problem. In fact, I think he’s the kind of person you’d want in the student council.

The question is, can I convince Moriyama-kun?

This is where I show my skills.

I must recruit Moriyama-kun at all costs!

On this day, I was allowed to leave school early because I had a 5pm appointment with someone I wanted to recommend, so I hurried to the park where Moriyama-kun was waiting for me.

When I arrived at the park, Moriyama was running around with Dozle-kun as usual.

“Sorry to keep you waiting.”

“No, it’s fine, Urushibara-san was working hard for the student council.”

“Woof!”

“Ufufu, thank you.”

“Anyway, I know I just got here, but I have an important consultation with you today.”

“Important consultation? Since it’s an important consultation, are you sure you want to talk about it with me?”

“Yes. It’s a consultation that only Moriyama-kun can do.”

“Ah, okay. Let’s hear it.”

“Yes, thank you. So, when I said consultation, I was talking about the student council.”

“Hmm? Student council? I don’t know anything about the student council…”

“Well, the student council is very busy at the moment with various events and budgeting for the next term. So we’ve decided to recruit someone to help us for a limited time, and I’d like to recommend you, Moriyama-kun.”

“What? Me?”

“Yes. I know that Moriyama-kun is an excellent person. It’s just that he doesn’t show it, so people don’t realize it.”

“No, I’m not. I’m just a mobster.”

“Moriyama-kun? No matter how much you deprecate yourself, my evaluation of Moriyama-kun will not change, okay? The current student council needs Moriyama-kun.”

“Hah~… But if people find out that a loner like me is involved in the student council… Everyone will–”

“That doesn’t matter anymore! Moriyama-kun, you keep calling yourself a loner, but you’re not a loner when you’re already friends with me! No matter how much you pretend to be a loner, it’s too late!”

“Ehh… I’m not a loner anymore…?”

“Besides! …I want…with Moriyama-kun…”

“Eh? What was it? I couldn’t hear you.”

“Nnn~~ Seriously! I want to be on the student council with Moriyama-kun! I want to stay with you as long as possible!”

“EHHH!? That much!? …I understand, can you tell me more about it? If I can be of any help, I will help you as much as I can.”

“R-R-R-Really!?”

“Yes. Samurai don’t go back on their words, do they?”

“Yes! Moriyama-kun, thanks!!!”

Saying that, I instinctively hugged Moriyama-kun.

“Hah♡ Moriyama-kun’s smell♡”

This is how I succeeded in recruiting Moriyama-kun.

I immediately took him to the student council advisor during the lunch break the next day to ask for permission, and he agreed to join us starting Thursday, the next student council meeting.
