Chapter 53: Could It Actually Be Him?

Although Catarina had lost her original legs in battle, biochemical technology made it possible for her to have a pair of super-tough legs. Strong, violent, agile, and full of speed, it was what she had been pursuing from the start.

A normal person who was capable of running a hundred meters within thirteen seconds was considered fast. When it came to the fastest record, the world’s fastest sprinter could run a hundred meters in under ten seconds. It has to be emphasized that the record was the world’s best!

With her super legs, Catarina could maintain a speed of a hundred meters per every five seconds for a long period of time. It was roughly equivalent to seventy kilometers per hour. After all, it was her bionic muscles and titanium bones doing all the work, so she would not feel tired at all.

If she were a car, her speed would not be very fast at all. However, as a human, it was considered superhuman. Catarina had always been proud of her speed, but today, she felt extremely embarrassed.

Catarina had met her match and it was someone who was even more agile than her. She had been practically cornered. The speed that had always been her pride was no longer worth mentioning to others. It could be said that even if she had been unlucky, then it was because her maximum speed was only a little over seventy kilometers per hour.

The confident, tough girl was unable to hit her target. She had met her match.

Zhou Qingfeng’s entire body was strengthened, and even he felt as if he had been hit by a train. It hurt so much that he was forced to roll all over the ground, turn around, and run away. On the other hand, Catarina felt as if she had hit a cement wall. Her thighs were strengthened, but her upper body was still that of a regular human.

The tough girl crawled out from underneath the debris of broken glass with great difficulty. She felt as if her internal organs had all shifted out of place. She could not breathe properly and holding her breath made her feel extremely uncomfortable. In a dazed state, she shook her head. The first thing that was on her mind was to find out who the person in front of her was.

Zhou Qingfeng had also underestimated the crazy woman’s strength, especially since he let one of her quirks slip his mind, which was that she liked wearing a full set of heavy bullet-proof armor. Other people would feel tired from wearing something so heavy, but such a thing was not much of a restriction for her. In David Lawrence’s team, she and the violent man, Minsk, often worked in a pair as the logistic’s back-up.

Zhou Qingfeng’s entire right arm was dislocated, and he had lost all feeling of his bones and muscles there. If it were not for the fact that he had been strengthened by NTZ-49, he was completely certain that all the bones in his arm would have been shattered. Then, it would have been difficult for him to recover even if he tried his best.

“F*ck, this lunatic, this absolute lunatic! She clearly saw that I had a gun in my hand, and yet she came at me with full speed. Is she not afraid that I’ll shoot her to death?”

Zhou Qingfeng had also been hit hard and was discombobulated. As a result of them clashing, his right hand was temporarily crippled, and he had dropped the FN SCAR that was in his hands. Worried that Catarina would suddenly open fire, the moment he fell, he immediately clambered up and turned tail.

On the other hand, Catarina was even more afraid of him. The tough girl’s entire body felt like jelly, and seeing how Zhou Qingfeng was still able of propping himself up, she was so shocked that she hastily struggled to find cover. As a result, the two of them each took up one end of the hall as if it was a standoff. Evidently, the mess they had made when they clashed with one another stayed in the middle of the hallway.

Zhou Qingfeng clutched a USP45 in his left hand as he stood up. He was panting and leaning behind a glass wall. He pinched the right arm of his that had swollen up by at least two times and instantly felt like his tears were about to fail like the rain in anguish.

What the f*ck was all of it! Instead of bumping into that bastard Tony Parker, he had bumped into the tough girl, Catarina, who did not follow logical combat rules. Could it be that he would end up being blocked at the entrance of the lab, unable to enter?

At the safety door of the entrance, the trapped guards were looking at Zhou Qingfeng who had fallen behind the wall. Their mocking, ridiculing, and taunting gazes were undoubtedly saying, “Who told you to not release us, dash in by yourself, and not call for backup? Now you know, don’t you? That woman inside is freakishly strong!

Meanwhile, on Catarina’s side, Angie had hurriedly run over to her after hearing the commotion. She saw Catarina lying on the floor with a pale expression on her face. She frantically called out, “Catarina, are you injured?”

“You, hide at the back. Don’t come over here. We’ve bumped into some trouble. Someone has trapped us in here, and I don’t think we can get out. Call your father immediately for help.” Only at this moment did Catarina remember to call for backup.

It was not within the tough girl’s intentions to follow the thug, Tony Parker, to cause trouble. She figured that a lab like this would without a doubt be heavily guarded, so how would it be easy to break in and steal something? She had decided to come along only because she was worried that something would happen to Angie.

Nevertheless, Tony Parker, that lucky bastard, was really lucky. The moment he went to the lab was the exact moment when the military disappeared. That was when he discovered that the entire lab was inexplicably in the midst of chaos. Hence, he managed to barge in with the two women.

Catarina had thought that it was really, really, really weird business. It was such an important lab, so how was it possible that no one was guarding it? Relying on those useless guards at the safety door? That would be absolute rubbish!

Then… Zhou Qingfeng arrived, full of self-confidence!

Then… the two people collided with each other!

Then… Catarina regretted it!

It was obviously a trap!

Catarina began to have whimsical ideas: Was it a trap that the military court of England had set up for her. Hence, they sent someone strong specifically to capture her, a deserter? It has to be said that Catarina was still wanted worldwide by the British Ministry of Defence.

Seeing that Catarina’s hand was shaking as she held her gun, Angie could not help but feel panicked as well. She had originally been a goody-two-shoes in school, and even though she was in the rebellious stage of adolescence, she knew how to judge the seriousness of a situation. The problem of being trapped in a key national classified lab was something that might not be able to be solved even if her old dad were to arrive.

“We have no way of communicating with those on the outside. This lab’s level of secrecy is extremely high; it has a specialized electromagnetic shield. Phones don’t work here,” Angie said, her face pale.

The two women had no more ideas. At this moment, the person who specialized in acting ridiculous, causing trouble, as well as having ridiculously good luck, ran out full of joy. It was Tony Parker. He said in delight, “I really am lucky. Angie took care of the final eye recognition sequence, and I managed to open the door to the Dog Meat assembly room.

“Guess what I saw? A bunch of experimental brains. It’s exactly what Angie had guessed. The researchers at the lab are trying to use the living brains of other animals as Dog Meat’s brain. There are reportedly chimpanzee brains, human brains, biochemical brains, and a bunch of other different brains.

“Um… Why do you all look so bad? What happened?” Tony Parker had blabbered a lot of words gleefully before realizing that the situation in front of him was not very normal. Catarina was slumped over and leaning on one side of the wall. On the other hand, Angie’s face was full of panic.

“I really shouldn’t have listened to your crap and come to this lab to steal a dog, you little thug. Now we’re in big trouble. Someone attacked us and is trapping us here,” Catarina said with a solemn expression. “The worst part is, that jerk is not an easy opponent.”

“Really?” Tony Parker was naturally immune to negative emotions. He was still able to chuckle happily. “Are there cops outside? Actually, I’ve always wanted to experience a bit of time in prison. Just relax and let me handle this situation.”

As he spoke, Tony Parker raised his hands in the air and stood in the middle of the hallway. He yelled loudly, “Hi, Mr. Police, I surrender! I just wanted to play a joke. I have no bad intentions.”

No bad intentions my a*s! At the other end of the hall, Zhou Qingfeng felt irritated upon hearing his cheeky voice. Zhou Qingfeng peered out, glanced at Tony Parker and then raised his hand to take a shot.

Bang… The shot missed!

Zhou Qingfeng’s gunmanship was already terrible, and now, he was holding the gun with his left hand. Nevertheless, the shot gave Tony Parker a fright and made him shout before turning to run back to Catarina’s side. He said with a crying face, “Heavens! Why are police like this nowadays? I already surrendered, yet he still opened fire.”

Catarina and Angie had no choice but to reevaluate the situation. Nevertheless, they then heard the sounds of cursing from the other side. “Tony Parker, get the f*ck out here. I said it before that I want that robot dog.”

Upon hearing the familiar voice, Angie and Catarina exclaimed in the corridor, “Victor

Hugo. Could it actually be him?”
