Twin Soul

Book 4: Chapter 22

Less than a minute later, Kain flew back and landed in front of Jaane as he said, “Let's fly back to the ship together. We will be going back to the Dryardian Empire then I will slowly recharge my Blood Equipment using the blood of my ‘Chosen People’.”

Jaane didn’t know what made Kain change his mind, but she wouldn’t oppose his wish of returning to the Dryardian Empire instead of testing out the [Origin] spell on Meregheihaule city. After making sure Jaane and his children are ready, Kain conjured three Wind Walkers and commanded them to cast [Wind Walk] spells to help Jaane, Liliana and Zander started flying toward the ship that was carrying the Kings and Queens of the Dryardian Empire including Guild Leader, Masters, and powerful members of the Blood Mages Guild.

Kain suddenly changed his mind because he remembered Admon Pashar, the Lieutenant Colonel of The Nalas Kingdom who killed his savior, Menas Danamark. Ariana Bellet was saved by Menas Danamark when she was revealed to possess a Twin Soul. Admon hunted and killed Menas, but spared and protected Ariana despite the fact that it could cost the lives of his entire family and himself. There sure are good humans like Admon Pashar in Meregheihaule city. More importantly, there could also be amazing people like his wife, Jaane Almos. Jaane didn’t reveal Kain’s true identity as a Blood Mage and still waited for him to return to the Toria Continents despite not hearing any news of him for over three hundred years. If it wasn’t because of Jaane, Kain wouldn’t think twice about massacring even the entire planet without any provocation.

Commanded their children to fly a little further ahead, Kain started to communicate with Jaane using a whispering tone, “I almost forgot next week would be our marriage anniversary. Considering me not destroying Meregheihaule city is my gift to you.”

After hearing Kain confirm not going to massacre Meregheihaule city, Jaane smiled and said, “I can’t ask for any better gift.”

Kain chuckled and said, “I was just joking. I will prepare a real gift."

Finished his stupid joke, Kain sadly whispered, "Jaane…”

“...Hmm?” Seeing Kain suddenly change his manner, Jaane didn't know how to react.

“Am I evil?”

“No, you’re not. You have a different childhood and you were raised in a much different environment compared to the rest of the world. I can’t even imagine what I would turn out if I was in your shoes.”

“My mind is being very conflicted right now. Half of me wanted to kill as many humans as possible to satisfy the anger of my heart while the other half of me wanted to live in peace with the humans because I know there are good people like you in this world.”

“Kain, this is why I’m here with you. I can help you not to make the wrong decision.”

“Do you know why I came back?”

“Yes, you have a second thought of mindlessly killing innocent people. That proves you aren't evil.”

“No, Jaane. I have just realized something important. It wasn’t Watcher Tykan who sealed away the [Origin] spell I have just uncovered.”

“Kain, what do you mean?”

“Watcher Tykan wanted amusement. That was why he had a game with Watcher Zorim and they continued playing the game of causing chaos in each other's realms. Nothing more amusing to Tykan than me creating as much chaos as possible in Toria Continents to win the game against Watcher Zorim. Tykan doesn’t want this realm, he just wanted to destroy it. Tykan once told me he helped Vierna to be as powerful as she was. Vierna Pharm could use up to four Elemental Magics including Blood Magic while I can only use three after passing the Tykan Eye’s trial. Don’t you think it's odd?”

“You are right, there is something strange about it.”

“I have told you the stories about how Etgar Revenmar forced the Tykan Eye’s trial on me and I managed to pass it. Everyone including myself thought that was a blessing, but in fact, it was a curse.”

“A curse of becoming stronger?”

“There is a con to getting that power. While it was true that passing the Tykan Eye’s trial allowed me to be able to create a second version of myself and instantly able to learn the third type of Elemental Magic, it also allowed Watcher Tykan to oversee my life despite not being the Watcher of Toria Continents. That explained how Tykan could communicate with me when I was about to die in the Timeless Dungeon. Even now my Souls have returned to me, Tykan could still be able to oversee everything I do throughout my life and communicate with me when he wishes. That is the curse of the Tykan Eye.”

Both Kain and Jaane remained silent for several minutes as they flew behind their children. Kain smiled and continued, “Before I told you that I wanted to massacre an entire town of Meregheihaule city to test out the [Origin] spell, I could feel an immersion of blood hunger boost in my guts telling me to do so. I could be wrong on this, but I believed it was Watcher Tykan who influenced my emotion and feeling. Even though I don’t like humans and just look at them as blood sources, I don’t think all humans deserve to die. I started thinking about lots of things and suddenly realized one important thing.”

Jaane asked using a concerned voice again, “Kain, what is this important thing you kept mentioning?”

“[Origin] spell was unlocked because my Blood Soul has reached Awakened status. Because I have eaten the Vampire Emperor’s heart during my time in the Timeless Dungeon, I have managed to reach Awakened status much faster than expected. Watcher Tykan possessed my Souls, putting an insignia of refinement which prevented me from reaching Awakened. When I first came back to Toria Continents, I felt like my physical strength had surpassed the Eleventh Stage of Saint Warrior, but I thought it was because Watcher Tykan lent me his power. Now that I have both of my Souls back, a vast power suddenly flew through my veins and boosted me to achieve Awakened status.”

"Awakened status?" Jaane asked with both of her eyes widely opened in astonishment.

"My father and Noe Clerico both have reached Awakened Monk Warrior, which is why they were physically overwhelmingly powerful and could even be stronger than me when I’m using my Devil Battlemage form."

“Uhm, I understand that. But how did you know you have reached Awakened status after just unlocking a new spell?”

“Remember you said Vierna Pharm could use Blood, Fire, Wind, and Light Magics? There was a history book written about this that was extremely confidential and sealed from the outside world. The Blood Mage Guild happened to have a copy of such a history book. That history book stated that Vierna can create two extra versions of herself. As two versions were killed in the battle, the third version escaped and later revived the other two versions. The more I think about it, the more I couldn’t understand how Vierna could create up to three versions of herself while I can only create two. It was because of the Wind Magic spell, [Replica]. Vierna couldn’t use the [Second Soul] spell like I could to create another version of myself.”

“Kain, did you mean…?”

“Yes, you have guessed right. I have just realized that I can now use up to four different types of Elemental Magic including Blood Magic. So far I have mastered Blood, Conjuration, and Black Magic. There are six Elemental Magics left, including Earth, Thunder, Fire, Ice, Wind, and Light Magics. I can now choose to learn one out of those six types of magic. I can allow my [Second Soul] to use up to three Elemental Magics including Blood Magic during battle. If I choose to unlock Light Magic, at level 100, I can easily massacre a small town to gather human blood, then cast [Mass Resurrection] spells using my mana pool and eight blood pools inside my body to revive everyone after altering their memories. This technique will satisfy my lust for blood while making sure no innocent would be killed… permanently. And when there is no blood source available nearby, jointly with my Soul-bound Magical Ice Spear, I can still recover my mana pool slowly using the [Mana Regeneration] spell to continue the fight while planning for an escape route.”

Hearing that Kain could revive an entire town after killing them for blood, Jaane breathed out slowly to calm her mind down. This was great news. As long as Kain doesn’t go around killing people mindlessly, Jaane couldn’t ask for a better option.

After having her mind relaxed, Jaane smiled and said, “You have already reached level 100 in magical training, all you need is Light Magic spell books to help you learn from level 1 to level 50 of Light Magic spells. I happened to have a collection of those spellbooks in my Storage Ring. Also, about having Watcher Tykan oversee your life, I may have a way to get rid of him forever for you. But… Kain, it will take away your ability to use [Second Soul].”
