Twin Soul

Book 3: Chapter 10 (1010)

Linkeep Island. Arthur saw Kain kneel on the ground in front of Noe earlier and knew Noe has turned Kain into one of his minions. And when Kain flexed his Vampire Emperor’s Wings then flew toward the East, Arthur could guess Noe had sent Kain to go hunt Jaane Almos, Liliana Bersk, and Zander Bersk. Arthur conjured a creature inside the planet that he created and commanded it to block Kain’s path.

While the Mages Council was preparing to attack the Blood Mages and the Rogue Mages, a giant blue color dragon appeared too close to the audience's side which surprised them all. The blue dragon then flew very fast in front of Kain and breathed out many giant ice spikes toward Kain to temporarily push him back from flying toward the East. Besides magic casters, other audiences such as the world leaders thought Kain wanted to escape Linkeep Island that was why Noe conjured a giant blue dragon to stop him. They quietly watch as Kain transforms into a demon flesh monster using [Demon Anatomy V] spell combined with [Abyssal Flesh] spell. Kain didn't change the fiery aura to any other aura for his demon form using the [Aura Adjustment] spell after he knew the blue dragon used Ice Magic. Instead of using his Soul-bound Magical Diamond Ice Spear which wouldn't cause much damage against magical creatures that use Ice Magic, Kain created a fiery greatsword as his choice of weapon then angrily stared into the giant dragon that was blocking his path.

Kain flew toward the giant blue dragon and started fighting with it using his greatly enhanced physical strength due to the boost from [Abyssal Flesh] spell. The blue dragon fought well, but Kain’s strength had well surpassed a regular Eleventh Stage Saint Warrior if just using his Vampire Mutant form without transforming. Because Kain already transformed using both [Abyssal Flesh] and [Demon Anatomy V] spells, his physical strength advanced into a new tier that couldn't be explained due to it wasn't being documented before. Kain's current physical strength couldn't be compared to a Devil Warrior but could be strong enough if compared to Demon Lord of the Thirteenth Gate.

It only took six minutes for Kain to kill the blue dragon and when he was about to continue flying toward the East, four more giant blue dragons appeared to block him. Just like the previous giant blue dragon, those blue dragons were as big as Yrsut and had the same physical strength as her. However, their magical powers were much weaker compared to Yrsut because they haven't advanced into level 100 in magical training. Still, a giant blue dragon of that size and could cast magic spells would be able to bring even a big nation in Toria Continents such as the Republic of Yfari to be cautious.

Everyone on the audience side was too focused on watching Kain killing the giant blue dragon and didn’t pay attention to Noe Clerico. By the time they saw him fly in front of Arthur using the [Wind Walk] spell casted by one of his Wind Walker, it startled them a little bit. Flying behind Noe were a Wind Walker, Lucas, and Gisella Renzo.

Warmly smiled at Arthur, Noe asked, “Arthur, why did you send your creatures blocking Kain’s path?”

“Arthur? Those giant blue dragons were Arthur Castillon’s creatures?”

“Who is Arthur Castillon?”

"Sir Arthur Castillon of the Gray."

“Sir Arthur Castillon? Never heard of him.”

“He was the one that…” The world leaders started talking about Arthur Castillon. Some recognized him, while most didn’t know who he was.

After understanding what had happened, Holy Mage Gwenn Bigham angrily stood up and asked, “Arthur? Is that true those giant blue dragons are your creatures?” Gwenn was mad that Arthur dared to act without her approval.

Arthur squeezed his eyebrows looking at Gwenn, he then ignored her and answered Noe, “Lord Clerico, where are you sending Kain Bersk to?”

Noe honestly answered, “Kain was turned into one of my minions as I have promised the world that it would happen. I like to give a new minion an entry mission. Some minions' entry mission was to advance into level 100 in magical training or reach Eleventh Stage Saint Warrior in physical training within a hundred thousand years. Some other minions' entry missions are to hunt down a specific target. Kain’s entry mission was to find his wife and kids then kill them. He has to bring their heads back in front of me to prove his loyalty.”

“Just like I have thought. My apology, Lord Clerico. But I'm afraid you may have to give Kain another entry mission.”

“Oh… how so?”

“I have promised Kain that I will protect his wife and children if he dies in the all-out battle with you.”

“A promise? Haha… A promise made to a dead man isn’t worth keeping. Arthur, tell your creatures to move or else.”

“Or else?” Arthur conjured twenty more giant blue dragons and commanded them to block Kain’s path as a signal letting Noe know he didn’t care about Noe’s warning.

Noe was glad to know Arthur wasn’t a coward who would stand down and break a promise just because of facing someone else stronger. Even so, what Arthur just did was a sign of great disrespect toward him.

Noe asked, “Is that promise worth becoming an enemy of the Mages Council? Aren’t you afraid your family in Flumen city will be disappointed in your actions?”

Arthur shook his head and calmly answered, “Even when my mother is a High Priest of the Bifjorkian Theocracy, she has no control over my thoughts and actions. Lord Clerico, I have sworn to loyalty serve you and the Mages Council. But I also made a promise of protecting Kain’s wife and children if he dies. I hope you understand my situation and make the right decision.”

“Arthur, you are one of my favorite members so let me give you a hint. Look for who is flying behind me. You can still see Gisella Renzo, can’t you?”

“Yes, I see her. I know she is a God-tier Ice Mage.”

“Then you must have known one of her magic spells could have killed all of your creatures in a blink of an eye. Why bother protecting the people that are doomed to die? No one will think less of you for breaking a promise you have made with Kain Bersk. You are good, and he was evil. There is no friendship between good and evil. I'm trying to tell you that it is okay to break such a useless dumb promise.”

“A promise is a promise, Lord Clerico.”

“Kain can’t use his Devil transformation due to the twenty-four hours cooldown. But he can open [Soul Bridge] to conjure Anwyn Richir. A God-tier Ice Mage and a Devil Overlord, how can you win against me? After turning Kain Bersk into one of my minions, even facing three God Mages right now wouldn't make me budge. Arthur, take a step back and be a good member of the Gray, will you?”
