Traveling The Omniverse With Overhaul's Quirk

Chapter 4 - four: Reaction of the Don

On  the outskirts of Gotham stood a penthouse owned by none other than the Don of Gotham, Carmine Falcone. Yes as in the notorious cold-blooded gang leader, and villain. However instead of the persona of a cool headed leader he showed normally,  all that could be seen is a man on the brink of eruption.

Let it be known that Falcone was not a young man, rather he looked to be in his mid fifties. Nonetheless at a tall 6"3 inches, wearing a comfortable black suit that would have costed a fortune for anyone else, having a face that showed authority along with the visible rage he currently felt, and aura that showed the same quality of the reincarnated soul, he made for quite the intimidating figure.

However, one might ask what could have made the Don angry? After all, Falcone is a cold man who has seen enough to fill several lifetimes. From overpowered supervillains trying to destroy the city, to the very incarnation of fear it's self, so what could aggravate him to the extent of rage?

Two words: Broken trust.

You See Falcone is a man of honor and discipline. He values that beyond anything else. Even his empire. So to break the trust he gives to people in order for them to honor whatever deal he made, usually means death.

Such was supposed to be the case of one Brad steel. A kid he found five years back. A rather dark time for the crime lord.

Back then Falcone had once again lost his empire thanks to the caped crusader known as the batman. A temporary setback in the eyes of the Don. That hadn't been the first time his empire had crumbled at the hands of another. Nor would it be the last.

Either way Falcone lacked men, no that wasn't an accurate portrayal of what he didn't have. Rather he lacked talented men. And while at the time he couldn't buy any he could definitely groom one, and he did.

Falcone took the young boy under his wing. He taught him the in's and outs of the underworld. Made the boy something most couldn't even dream of. But most importantly he gave the boy purpose.

Years later after the Don had reclaimed the underworld as his own once again he gave the boy a position of power. Gave him men and women to do with as he pleased.  The biggest present he gave him was a bar straight in the middle of gotham

Unfortunately, or fortunately for Falcone, Carmaine has spies everywhere. Including the very bar which Steel stayed.

Do not misunderstand Falcone, this was something he did to everyone who worked for him. It was a basic underworld strategy to keep eyes of everyone under you, especially those with power.

Despite this however he gave the boy a chance to fix his traitorous thoughts and actions. Yet he did not.

Even when he took away all that he had given the boy, Steel still persisted in his traitorous ways.

And it was with a heavy heart that the Don sent local ȧssassins to deal with the traitor. He even specifically told them to do as they pleased.

However it seemed that they had failed.  That was how the Don had become quite angry. Yes he could send more ȧssassins after his failed student, but the boy wasn't incompetent. He could adapt and he could even thrive with all that Falcone had taught him.

Instead he chose to pick someone more experienced in this field of work.

Picking up a phone from his desk in the middle of the room, falcone dialed a number. Once the number picked up Carmine wasted no time and immediately spoke.

" Victor I have a job for you".

( Streets of Gotham)

Have you ever wondered where the villains of Gotham get their goons? After all, don't you think it's strange that someone like the Joker, or even killer Crock, has a steady supply of cannon fodder to just throw around?  After all not many people would be inclined to work with those that kill, sacrifice, and even eat their employees with no hesitation.

So why? Why risk yourself being murdered by the very person you're working for, for only a quick pay day at that? The answer laid directly in front of our protagonist.

Standing innocently in a guise of a simple office building was the answer to one of the more over looked mysteries of Gotham. Having a medium sized sign blotted with  words "Fergoon Hori's" an Anagram for the real name of the building" Goons for hire".

Not the best protection against those such as batman, but it was more than enough for the average civilian to steer away from the place. After all in Gotham one does not question nor approach strange buildings in the desolate parts of the city.

Anyway Our protagonist or "Brad" was here for a specific reason. He needed muscle, or more accurately he needed people that wouldn't be missed to turn into his  enhanced humans. And this was the best way to get some according to his host's memories.

This place didn't ask questions. You simply said what type of henchman you want along with how many, and then within the hour your order was delivered.  Where these henchmen came from, especially the more exotic ones, came from is a mystery.

Though Steel had sneaking suspicion cloning and quite possibly magic had something to do with it.
