7. Chapter 7 Who Was More of a Pain in the Ass?

Translator: Storm in a Teacup

Si Yuhan’s heart was stinging, so he hurried to look away. Ke Ruan paused, knowing Si Yuhan, the male lead, didn’t liked being started at by him.

Ke Ruan lowered his head as well.

Si Yuhan didn’t understand why he was the one who dared not look into his eyes. It should be Ke Ruan who felt ashamed.

He looked at Ke Ruan again, only to find that Ke Ruan was looking down like a puppy deserted by its owner. He wanted to laught.

But his smile froze right there.

What was going on? I must be crazy, he thought. That smile disappeared before it showed up. Si Yuhan rubbed between his eyebrows.

The carriage suddenly moved. Kuo Ruan subconsciously held Kun Yuanling in his arms, trying to protect him while he himself bumped into the wooden edge of the carriage.

Bang!

Si Yuhan trembled and looked at Ke Ruan who was holding him tightly.

The collision made Ke Ruan’s mind go blank.

Si Yuhan almost couldn’t breathe because of the hug. Ke Ruan still didn’t come around from the shock. What he did was like a wrecking ball in Si Yuhan’s heart.

“Ouch…” After a while, Ke Ruan came around and moaned over the pain. He let go of Si Yuhan and asked nervously, “Are you okay? Did you get hurt or something?”

Zheng Xuan shook his head. His eyes were filled with uncertainty.

Ke Ruan sighed out of relief, then touched his own forehead.

Ke Ruan had a fair skin, which made the lump on his left forehead very obvious.

Before Ke Ruan could let out a scream of pain, he heard a familiar voice outside that said, “How dare you get in my way! I’m gonna kill you!”

Ha!

Ke Ruan sneered. How could anyone be more of an asshole than himself?

He must get his revenge, for his scared, disfigured pretty face.

He pulled back the curtains and looked towards the man who was talking nonsense.

A man riding on a horse in fancy clothes was confronting Lin Qingye face to face. He seemed to be a rich guy but looked like a monkey, which made you want to punch him in the face.

On the ground lay a teenage girl who was about 13 or 14 years old. She was crying her eyes out and looked like a real mess. She must have been trying to escape.

At the first glance, Ke Ruan knew what had happened immediately.

Lin Qingye was staring at the guy on the horse with cold eyes.

“How dare you stare at me like that?! You’re dead meat.” The man yelled at Lin Qingye. He was furious. “I’ll hurt you real bad.”

Lin Qingye was about to give him a lesson when Ke Ruan said, “How dare you get in my way! You’re dead meat, you know that?”

They all dressed like ordinary people for convenience. But that moron hadn’t ever wondered why there were so many people? Warning bells didn’t ring in that stupid head?

Ke Ruan was stunned by Ke Ruan’s sudden rudeness and gave him a disapproving look.

Ke Ruan got out of the carriage, thinking that he would show that moron what a real asshole looked like. He didn’t look at Lin Qingye and helped the girl to her feet. “Don’t be afraid. I’m here. No one can hurt you now,” he said.

“Who do you think you are?” That guy said furiously.

“Young master. Please. Just ignore him. Let’s go back.” A guard beside that guy said to him. The guard had noticed something different. Apparently, those people in front of them were no pushovers. What if they were some big figures? They would definitely get into trouble, serious trouble.

But that moron kicked the guard off his horse. A nobody like him dared to talk to him like that?

Lin Qingye’s face looked so cold. His hands were on his sword, ready to draw it out of its sheath.

“I’m your daddy. Don’t you know?” Ke Ruan said, signaling to Lin Qingye not to move.

Si Yuhan pulled back the curtain and looked at Ke Ruan who was making a scene just like before. But this time, he couldn’t bring himself to hate Ke Ruan. He didn’t seem annoying anymore.

“Kill him! Ruin that pretty face!” That guy shouted.

Ke Ruan raised an eyebrow.

At least he agreed it was a pretty face, Ke Ruan thought.

The girl was worried sick and took Ke Ruan by his arm. “Please. Just go. Don’t mind me. Trust me. You don’t wanna mess with that man.”

Staring at the girl’s hands on Ke Ruan’s arm, Si Yuhan’s eyes darkened a little. Those hands were not fair enough, not soft enough, he thought.

“Don’t be afraid. Just tell me what happened and let me take care of it.”

She paused and realized the man in front of her were definitely something. She looked down. Her eyes were filled with tears. “I was just buying something when he suddenly showed up and forced me to be his concubine. Of course I didn’t agree, so he just…”

Okay. Simple. He just decided to steal her.

“I got it. Someone thinks that he is above the law. So he just tries to steal a girl in broad daylight.”

That “someone” laughed and said, “I am the law. So what?”

“Oh, so you are the law? Sorry, is your name ‘The Law” or what? What’s your father’s name? Why did he name you ‘The Law’? It’s a little bit weird, don’t you think? But it’s not bad, not bad indeed.”

“What did you just say? Drop dead.” The man got off his horse and tried to punch Ke Ruan in his face. Ke Ruan smiled and stepped back a little, so that guy didn’t hurt him at all. But in people eyes, that guy just hit Ke Ruan in his chest.

Ke Ruan pretended to took a few steps back because of the punch. He put his hands on his chest, looking weak and vulnerable. “How dare you punch me like that!”

That rich guy sneered, “Oh come on. Don’t be a pussy. I’m going to kill you.”

“Really?” Ke Ruan patted his clothes, stood up and said in a cold voice, “Do you all hear that? He just said he was going to kill me, the prince of this country! If that’s not called treason, I don’t know what is. Drag him down and smite him to death.”

“Yes! Your Highness.”

A few plainclothes soldiers came forward and caught that rich guy, who was just a clown compared to those who really knew martial art.

“How dare you!” Apparently the rich guy didn’t expect all of this. He said with his eyes wide open, “You said that you are the prince. Who can prove it?”

“I can.” Ke Ruan blinked at him then said to the soilders, “Do it now!”

Apparently, that guy must have some powerful connections. So if you wanted him to end up in prison, you had to charge him with a serious crime.

As soon as possible.

Ke Ruan looked at Lin Qingye and said, “General Lin, I hate to trouble you but can you send someone to tell my father what happened today? ”

Lin Qingye jumped off his horse and said, “Your Highness, why bother waste so much time on him?”

Just kill him. A good-for-nothing like him didn’t deserve the trouble of bothering the emperor.

Ke Ruan laughed, then said softly, “On the one hand, he must have some powerful connections. If you just charge him with trying to steal a girl, he would not be condemned to death. On the other hand, if you did this, that man’s father is sure to take revenge on you. You are too important to expose yourself to that kind of danger. You should do what you’re good at — protecting the country — instead of getting involved in those dirty tricks. Leave it to me. Besides, I am the prince, what are they gonna do to me?”
