Chapter 239: Ke Nuo Got Married

Translator: Storm in a Teacup

Ke Nuo got married as a princess, and people who were carrying the dowries lined up for miles through out the Red Flame Country. A general amnesty was also proclaimed to the country.

Ke Ruan, who should have accompanied his sister for the marriage, did not appear. Because he didn’t approve of the marriage since the very beginning.

He was unwilling to witness this moment.

Ke Ruan stood at the highest place of the imperial palace and watched the huge group of escorting the bride left the imperial palace.

It was clearly a lively scene, but in Ke Ruan’s eyes, it was just forlorn.

In a trance, Ke Ruan got a feeling that he had seen it before.

Suddenly, there was a warm coat on his body, keeping him off the cold air outside. Ke Ruan looked back and saw Si Yuhan’s cool face.

“Why are you here?” Ke Ruan took his eyes off him to look at the group that was gradually disappearing again.

Si Yuhan didn’t answer his question. He just reached out his hand to hold him in his arms with his chin gently resting on the top of his head. His voice was soft, as if the wind could disperse it.

“It’s windy here, I’m afraid that you’ll get cold.”

Ke Ruan pursed his lips and lowered his eyes, his long eyelashes casting a shadow whose color couldn’t be seen clearly in his eyes. After a while, he said, “Let’s go back.”

Si Yuhan responded softly, then he took him towards the palace.

For a few seconds, Ke Ruan who hadn’t been distracted by Si Yuhan didn’t see his eyes glistening which seemed to be worry or complaint that just turned into a sigh when Si Yuhan looked at the group escorting the bride.

Ever since her brother agreed to marry her to Yu Xin, Ke Nuo had never seen her brother again. Even when she left the palace today, her brother also didn’t show up.

The fingers of Ke Nuo’s white hands were tightly interlaced together. Her eyes were red but she still gulped back her tears.

Everything she had today was her own choice. Even if her brother didn’t come to see her off, wasn’t it because of her brother that Si Yuhan would give the dowries and granted a general amnesty?

Her brother had never given up on her. It was herself who chose someone else and left her brother.

Just as she was about to shed tears, Ke Nuo raised her head and tried to hold them at bay.

However, it was useless. Tears still rolled down the corners of her eyes and she wiped them gently.

‘You lied to me, bro. You said when I want to cry, I can look up at the sky and then I won’t cry. Why did my tears still pour down?’

A piece of paper which had been crumpled into a ball suddenly flew from outside the window and Ke Nuo picked it up. There were only a few words on it.

“I’ll be here if anything happens.”

Just a few words were enough to shatter all of Ke Nuo’s fears. She naturally believed Yu Xin, otherwise she wouldn’t have gotten on her own way to marry him and go such a remote place which was so far away from her brother.

She carefully unfolded the piece of paper in her hand and carefully smoothed the wrinkles on it. Then she carefully folded it and put it in her pocket.

Ever since Ke Nuo left, Ke Ruan had never slept well and had been tortured by nightmares every night. In the dream, not only did Yu Xin treat his sister badly which was different from what he promised, but also he even married concubines who all bullied the legal wife Nuonuo.

Nuonuo had grown up being pampered. Even though the discipline was strict, it was only in etiquette. In terms of scheming, she absolutely was not comparable to those women.

In fact, Nuonuo was kind and believed that everyone in the world was nice. She didn’t want believe that others habored evil intentions, so again and again, Yu Xin actually stood by and watched them bully her in Ke Ruan’s dreams.
