Chapter 16 Dangerous Lands

Translator: Storm in a Teacup

Ke Ruan noticed right away that one bandit suddenly stopped attacking him, then discovered that the leading character was freaked out. He saw him clearly even in the night.

He shouted with fear, “Han, watch out!”

Si Yuhan looked horrified. He turned around and started running towards the woods.

Ke Ruan ran after Si Yuhan after he got rid of the bandits around him.

Most of the bandits then realized that Ke Ruan was under no protection, they began running after Ke Ruan.

Lin Qingye changed color. His eyes were turning gloomy. Most bandits were following Ke Ruan, so he easily killed all those left.

Lin Qingye then gave the order, “Everyone, go find the young master. Make sure he is okay.”

Not only did he need to be found, but he also needed to be found safe and sound.

“Yes! Your Highness.”

Ke Ruan paid all his attention on Si Yuhan in the distance. He even dared not blink. He was afraid that once he slacked a little, Si Yuhan would be gone forever.

Ke Ruan hold his sword so tightly and tried his very best to run towards Si Yuhan. The air was pretty wet in the wood at night. Cold air sneaked into his throat and he felt like it was burning after a while.

The deeper he went into the woods, the darker it was.

Ke Ruan heard no footsteps behind him any more. He stopped and swept around. He frowned. Where the hell was Si Yuhan? He did see him running in here.

“Han, where are you?”

Si Yuhan was there watching Ke Ruan anxiously looking for him. He touched his chin with his fingers, his eyes flickering with maliciousness.

He was planning to kill Ke Ruan when they arrived at Yuliang County. But why did he wait until then when he could do it now? He thought, it was actually pretty lucky for Ke Ruan to die with all those people. At least he was not alone.

“Watch out.” Ke Ruan’s eyes were wide open as he shouted and rushed towards Si Yuhan. Si Yuhan’s eyes were cold. Was he trying to kill me in close quarters? He must had overestimated himself.

Si Yuhan leaned sideways. Before he could do anything, he fell right into Ke Ruan’s arms, which disgusted him.

Ke Ruan gasped. Of course he was afraid. But when the sword did hit him, he found himself feeling worthy.

He gripped the sword and stabbed at the man who stabbed him in return.

Only then did Si Yuhan realize that Ke Ruan’s arm was bleeding badly.

“You…” Si Yuhan’s eyes nearly poped out of his head. His wide eyes were filled with confusion and suspicion.

Ke Ruan got injured for protecting him.

Why? He could have just watched him die, or at least let the assassin stab me to vent out his anger.

But, he didn’t.

He used his body as a shield and saved my life!

Si Yuhan’s lips were compressed into a thin line. There was less cruelty but more confusion in his eyes.

“Don’t be afraid. I’m here with you.” Ke Ruan comforted him, not noticing anything unusual about Si Yuhan.

“Go search him. Kill him as soon as you see him.”

Ke Ruan felt a chill in his heart. It seemed that those bandits were not just ordinary bandits. There were more and more of them coming. He was all by himself along with Si Yuhan. There was no way that he could protect both of them.

Ke Ruan hold Si Yuhan tightly and whispered in his ears, “Han, be a good boy and hold me tightly. Don’t ever let go of me, okay?”

As he breathed warm airs into Si Yuhan ears, Si Yuhan couldn’t help trembling a little bit.

Ke Ruan shooked his body. Si Yuhan subconsciously put his arms around Ke Ruan’s neck.

Si Yuhan looked at his hands, then Ke Ruan’s neck. His eyes were flickering under the moon.

Ke Ruan lowered his footsteps. Those bandits would come soon. They needed to find a place to hide, hoping that General Lin would find them in time.

That was their only hope.

“They must be nearby. Search them for me.”

“Yes! ”

Ke Ruan frozed. They must have seen the bandits he killed. Their voices were closer and closer. He picked up his pace unconsciously.
