45 – Things go wrong due to variables

What is a hero?

If you ask people this question, most likely they will say that they are grateful beings who serve their citizens. Even if you don’t actually think that way, you might say something like this out of consideration for the people around you.

But does that make a hero no different from a volunteer? If you ask that, most people will shake their heads.

After all, being a hero is a job. Whether you belong to a country or open a private office and create a company as an individual – you end up belonging somewhere and working. It is a job where an individual works and makes money.

That means that even though heroes are people who act for the citizens – they are ultimately people who listen to someone else’s words and move. For example, the government, the police, the president of an office, or the request of a client, or even the wishes of the citizens, can be said to be heroes.

Then, who is it that motivates the heroes who are working part-time as bodyguards right now – students who happened to get the job after being tricked by Yena?

“Umm… So you guys are Yena’s friends?”

“Yes.”

Who could it be? It must be the employer who hired them.

Jihyeon is a middle-aged man who frowns while looking at them. He looked at the chairman of Last Hope and answered nervously.

“Hmm.”

The hair was bald, as if it had gone through the ravages of hard times. A man whose forehead is full of wrinkles and who looks very old.

If you only look at his head and face, you could say he is an old man rather than a middle-aged man, but his black suit, which is bulging to the point of tearing due to tense muscles all over his body, is a body that is not covered by clothes, so he is still a strong person. It was proven that

“Yes, did you say I’m the same age as her?”

“Yes…”

The frowning face combined with the prominent muscles creates a scary atmosphere. As if they didn’t like something, he kept circling around the students and inspecting them in detail, and soon the students were getting nervous-

“You’re amazing at such a young age.”

“Yes… Yes?”

Her face is clearly still frowning, but what she says is a compliment that lifts them up. The students who saw the corners of his mouth turn up wondered if he was being sarcastic at them.

“It’s really amazing. Did I mention that he has already reached 10,000? “It’s even more amazing when you see it in person.”

“Uh… Thank you?”

“There’s definitely a reason why my daughter praised it.”

He had a scary face that would bury at least one person, but the compliments he continued to give made them realize that he was truly praising them.

“Unlike that damn guy, they are very normal guys. Did you say they were the golden generation? “You deserve to hear those words.”

“Thank you. “But you’re a f*cking bastard?”

“He’s the thief who stole my daughter. “He left his daughter alone and didn’t know where he was going and what he was doing…”

“Ahahahaha…”

Was the story about approval? I know that Yena is forcing him into marriage, but isn’t Yena a thief who stole another family’s son?

The students immediately broke into a cold sweat and thought so, but they did not say it out loud. I just thought they had their own reasons and passed on it.

“When I graduate from school and become an adult, I want to come visit Yena. “I will give you each a costume as a gift.”

“Really?!”

“Okay then. He says he’s my daughter’s friend, so I have to do at least this much. Moreover, more than anything, I think you will be excellent heroes, so I think you will be very effective as promotional models.”

“Thank you!”

“Okay. Keep working hard in the future. “Okay then-“

Last Hope’s costume is known to be extremely expensive. The students smiled brightly when told that they would give it to them for free. The Chairman, who still frowned and turned his back, immediately moved to where his family was –

“Then now we too-“

“I have to go to work.”

In a situation where they were the only ones left, the students moved straight toward the object they were supposed to guard.

“You’re a lot sweeter than I thought.”

“After all, you shouldn’t judge people just by their appearance?”

“Weren’t you stiff at first too?”

“I was frozen in the thought that I had met my friend’s father.”

“The excuse is…”

People coming out of the VIP room and walking through the spacious opera house. Jihyeon, who was looking at the people watching or waiting for the performance and chatting with her face full of excitement, soon frowned and looked away.

We are now accustomed to recognizing young heroes who are making a name for themselves and asking them to shake their hands or ask for their autographs, but no one here recognizes them. That’s because they were wearing civilian clothes instead of the costumes they always wore.

Wouldn’t it be strange if we recognized him because his hair style and clothes were completely different and he was wearing camouflage glasses or a mask?

Is that why? She began to look around her as if she were visiting an opera house for the first time in her life –

“…Huh?”

In the meantime, I made eye contact with a girl.

It was really just a coincidence that our eyes met. But Ji-hyeon, who looked at her girl closely, soon felt a sense of discomfort and frowned.

She has blue hair and sky blue eyes that resemble her hair color. She was a girl wearing a school uniform who came to visit me after school. Why does she keep looking at that girl who looks younger than her? She obviously doesn’t remember where she saw it.

Jihyun continued to glare at the girl who turned her head and continued to look at her watch, as if she had made eye contact by chance, but she soon decided to do something about it. I tried to move her steps, but-

“Jihyun. “What are you looking at?”

“Ah… I was just looking around because I was curious.”

She soon turned her head when she heard the voices of her friends calling her.

“Jihyun, did you say this is your first time in a place like this? “Then she is definitely amazing.”

“You said this is your first time here too? Anyway, I guess Hangyeol went to her client first. “We should go quickly too, right?”

Those who want to meet her client right away. Jihyun glared at the girl who was buying her drink, feeling an awkwardness still lingering in her head and a sense of déjà vu that she didn’t know why, but she soon turned her head and walked towards them.

I just ran into that girl somewhere. She followed someone similar to Hyunwoo before, but wasn’t she a completely different person? Besides, even if that girl was someone you knew, what would you do right now?

“Are you all ready?”

“Yes. “What about Jihyun?”

“I’m fine too.”

Jihyun soon tried to ignore her instincts that were ringing alarm bells in her head, and she started moving with them towards her client.

“Puh-ha-“

Meanwhile, Ji-hyeon and her eyes met – no, Eun-ji was glaring at Ji-hyeon to be precise.

“You’re finally gone, you crazy b*tch.”

As she walked away, she let out a sigh of relief.

“Do you recognize me on this street? “You’re out of your mind.”

Her experience as a villain and her intuition were informing her. That wasn’t just the gaze he observed after his eyes met hers. Those eyes – because they were clearly the look in your eyes when you were suspicious of someone.

There must be differences in hair color, eye color, and even facial shape and height, but they are viewed with suspicion. What would have happened if Hyunwoo was here too?

Eun-ji, who remembered Hyeon-woo, who had left the room for a moment to conduct her investigation, immediately began shaking and wiped away the cold sweat. Then, she touched the in-ears and opened her mouth –

-The heroes are moving. Boss, never run into him. Did you glare at me as if you were suspicious just because I made eye contact for a moment? Because it looks like the boss will get caught the moment he sees it!

“I think it’s already too late.”

-Yes?!

Hyeonwoo, who was listening to Eunji’s words, muttered softly and laughed bitterly.

“What’s going on?”

If Eunji’s warning had been a little earlier, would something have been different? That can’t be possible.

Hyunwoo managed his facial expression as he faced Hangyeol, a boy who was looking at him with suspicion, and immediately scratched the back of his head with a friendly smile.

“I got lost while looking around.”

“This place is probably off-limits to officials.”

“hahahaha. I didn’t know that. I’m really sorry.”

There are only about 20 minutes left until the opera starts.

Hyeonwoo, who had been watching for traces of silence around him before, swallowed his saliva as he looked at Hyunwoo, who clearly shouldn’t be here.

“…Do you have any ID?”

“Here it is. However-“

As a hero, Hangyeol tries to interrogate a suspicious person. Hyunwoo smiled as he handed him the fake ID, then moved his gaze towards him and-

“By any chance, is the person behind you-“

“…Back?”

Soon, Hangyeol heard Hyunwoo’s words, turned around, and smiled delicately.

“Hey, it’s dangerous so don’t go outside…”

“I’m sorry. It’s frustrating so stop. “More than that, that person seems to be the person who came to see the performance?”

A woman approaches them with a friendly smile. The main character of this opera is vocalist Jo Yu-mi and-

“hahahaha. I never thought I’d meet you here. It is an honour!”

“Thank you. I hope you have a good experience.”

Hyunwoo, who encountered the villain Silence, felt cold sweat running down his back.
