The Way of The Dao

Chapter 64 – Engagement?

"Mom, how do you feel?" Tang Wanying asked with concern as she saw her mother finish taking the medicine.

Tang Zhi had her eyes closed, enjoying the feeling of comfort in her body as the medicine gave her a comforting and warm feeling. She no longer felt pain in her body.

Tang Zhi opened her eyes and nodded affectionately to her daughter, causing her to breathe a sigh of relief.

Tang Zhi turned to Ling Tian: "Thank you very much, young man. I do not know how I could ever repay you for this enormous debt of saving my life" she had heard this young man say that he was uncomfortable being called a grandmaster, so she called him directly young, as she did not know his name.

Ling Tian nodded softly, "Don't worry, aunt. I did it with pleasure. I could not bear to leave her like that and let her die like that. Besides, I had promised her daughter, hehe."

Tang Zhi smiled brightly as a mysterious light passed through her eyes as she heard the last of it.

Ling Tian continued to speak: " Aunt, you must take these medicines every day, so that your body can recover completely. In a little more than 15 days you will be completely healed. Don't worry about the medicine, I already made all the medicine you would need with the ingredients you had in your family. I hope you don't mind that I used most of your medicinal plants, hehe."

Ling Tian pointed to the porcelain jars he had left on the table while laughing helplessly.

Tang Zhi nodded appreciatively as she looked at all the porcelain bottles that contained the medicinal liquid. She told him not to worry about the latter, that it was a trivial matter.

She was amazed to see that there were more than 15 bottles on the table. How could he make so much medicine in such a short time? It hadn't even been an hour and he had already done so much...

How could she repay this act of selfless help by saving her from death?

Looking at his appearance, he must be in his 20s, about the same age as her son Jingtian. Her daughter Tang Wanying was just over 19.

His temperament, his gestures and his personality showed that he was a magnificent young man.

She had seen most of these young people from the great families and the aristocratic families. They were all arrogant and proud in whatever they could do, without a sense of humility or respect. But this young man, he was just the opposite...

His charisma and his kindness in treating the person he is helping. His humility in showing himself to others. His calm and clean gaze that contains no evil or arrogance. He did not even show lust or greed in looking at the beauty of her daughter, it was as if he was used to seeing extraordinary beauty... This was a good man who would become a dragon among men in the future...

Who is he?

What family does he come from?

What family is so lucky to have such a person?

His parents should be so proud to have such a son.

Talking about his parents, Tang Zhi thought of a possibility.

Throwing away that sad possibility, Tang Zhi thought of something when he saw Ling Tian and then turned to see her daughter, who was actually holding her hand.

Ling Tian did not know what Tang Wanying's mother was thinking, but, as he watched her look, he felt a slight unease that if he did not leave, he would end up caught up in something complicated

"How should I compensate you? I'm sure you don't want money or anything..." Tang Zhi stared at Ling Tian, trying to see through him...

Ling Tian shook his head: "No need, Auntie. You really don't have to pay me anything. I did it without expecting anything in return."

Tang Zhi flashed an ambiguous smile.

"So... how about I compromise you to my daughter?" Tang Zhi threw out what she had planned.

Huh?

What?!

Ling Tian instantly understood the feeling he had.

Tang Wanying was surprised when she heard what her mother said. Engage with this young man?

"But Mom-" Tang Wanying stuttered when she wanted to talk, but was interrupted by her mother.

"But unfortunately, I can't force my daughter to marry an unknown person, let alone someone she doesn't like..." Tang Zhi breathed a sigh of sorrow, while a lament could be discerned on her face.

"N-no... n-no that... I-I..." Tang Wanying's voice trembled with nerves as she tried to explain herself. Her face could not help but blush at the thought of such a thing, getting engaged? Getting married? Her feelings were chaotic inside her. But before she could finish what she was trying to say, she was interrupted again but this time by Ling Tian.

"There's no need really, Auntie. Anyway your daughter would disagree about this, she doesn't love me, we have only known each other for a few hours, so it would be natural for her to reject the compromise. Besides, I'm just a master alchemist nothing more, I'm not even a martial artist who can protect your daughter." Ling Tian smiled while he winked at Tang Wanying, who was currently a mess inside. Her face became even redder than before.

"What a pity..." Tang Zhi breathed a sigh of sadness.

"N-NO!"

Tang Wanying suddenly shouted, making everyone look at her. She covered her mouth at once while wondering what was happening to her. Why did she scream no at that moment? What was wrong with her heart that was beating madly like a deer? Why did her mouth speak suddenly?!

Tang Zhi smiled imperceptibly at her daughter's reaction, but she immediately tried to hide it and look worried. Ling Tian had caught her sly smile, scratched his head and let out a bitter smile inside him while he thought: 'She reminds me of my mother when she got her way and got what she wanted. She always did the same thing to make my father give in to her, haha.'

Tang Wanying's mother felt before that there was no man worthy of her daughter. All those men were just lusty beasts, wolves in sheep's clothing, and she did not want her daughter to be hurt and harmed... But... Now... This man was like the creation of the heavens, with everything that ordinary people could not imagine. He was clearly standing beside her, but weakly, he seemed to be standing on another level, looking at ordinary creatures from a higher perspective... As if he were a god... A being who stood above the heavens and all that existed...

Tang Zhi really liked this young man, so he wanted to be selfish in engaging with her daughter, besides, she had witnessed the interaction of the two of them and she was sure that, if her daughter was not in love with him, at least she had a good impression of him. So she wanted to push them both into a relationship and thus build a path for the two of them to love each other over time.

Of course, she would take her daughter's decisions into account, so if she didn't want to, she wouldn't force her. She didn't want to ruin her daughter's future by forcing her to be with someone her daughter didn't want. Her daughter was her adoration along with her other son, and also without forgetting her daughter's sister-friend, Mu Shuiruo. Tang Zhi saw Mu Shuiruo as her daughter too. So everyone knew that, Tang Wanying and Mu Shuiruo were the princesses of the Tang family.

Tang Wanying was in a conflict in her heart. She didn't know what to say or what to do.

Suddenly.

"Wife!"

"Mother!"

Two worried screams sounded outside the room, in the hallway.

After three seconds the door opened fiercely and two people came in.

One was Tang Zhi's husband, father of Tang Wanying and Tang Jingtian, and the current patriarch of the Tang family, Tang Wei.

The other was someone Ling Tian knew very well.

Tang Jingtian. The young master of the Tang family, as well as the son of Tang Zhi and Tang Wei, and the older brother of Tang Wanying.
