The Way of The Dao

Chapter 529 (Vol 3) – The Greatest Regret & Pain For Someone Is To Become A Cripple

* Bang! *

The clear sound of a slap was heard just before a figure flew out and crashed into the nearby stand, destroying it to pieces!

"Huh?"

"What happened?"

Whispers slowly spread through the crowd as their consciousnesses gradually began to comprehend what had happened. Everyone could see Ling Tian standing there, with his arm slightly extended and without a scratch on his body, but they couldn't see Simu Zhicai.

Where was Simu Zhicai?!

"Young Master Simu!"

A few exclamations were heard soon after as the youths surrounding Ling Tian called out in concern and rushed towards the destroyed stand.

A person lay unconscious in the rubble of the previous stand, energy flowing from his body and fading from him quickly.

What had happened?

Wasn't Ling Tian the one who was supposed to be on the ground after being hit by Simu Zhicai?

"Looks like it's kind of comforting, haha." Ling Tian laughed lightly as he looked at his hand and remembered that feeling of slapping someone, feeling as if he felt slightly better doing that, as if he was teaching the enemy a lesson and humiliating him at the same time.

He had never done this in the past due to always having to kill on the first shot when facing opponents almost always more powerful than him at the time, so he would use other moves. In the immortal realm, if you didn't kill the enemy in the first shot, it was certain that you would be badly injured in the next second, or in the worst case scenario, a certain death.

Ling Tian looked at Simu Zhicai who was unconscious while being helped by the others. Ling Tian was not going to be gentle just because he was a young man; if one was prepared to injure or kill, he should also be prepared for him to receive the same. The strength with which Simu Zhicai intended to hit him could clearly kill a mere mortal easily, leaving him badly wounded and in agony for a while before dying.

"Do you want to continue?" Ling Tian looked with a small smirk at two who were still near him, showing nervous expressions as their gazes alternated between him and unconscious Simu Zhicai. His gaze full of indifference but direct sent shivers down the spines of the guys in front of him.

Ling Tian coldly snorted and resumed his walk, strutting among the guys who stood frozen staring at him, but not daring to do anything due to the fear that swept over them.

"L-little Young Master, wait!"

A nervous and trembling call was heard behind Ling Tian as the servant who had retreated to the side nervously followed Ling Tian.

"Don't think I didn't notice what you did." Ling Tian turned to look weakly at the man for a few seconds before withdrawing his gaze.

The servant froze as he met Ling Tian's indifferent gaze, feeling a shiver run down his back, preventing him from moving forward and following him. He were aware that he had allowed his Young Master to be beaten and do nothing to stop it!

The crowd automatically broke through as they saw Ling Tian leave quietly, passing between them. The men felt a shiver at the sight of him and the women fell in love before him, watching his back until he disappeared and feeling their hearts racing.

"Quick, senior brother must be taken away!"

"What are you waiting for, make way!"

"If anything happens to Young Master Simu all of you will be to blame!"

The young men with Simu Zhicai moved quickly and carried the unconscious Simu Zhicai back home to the Simu family. Their expressions were full of fear, terros and worry.

"What's wrong?"

"Wasn't Young Master Feng supposed to be a cripple?"

"Could it be that he was hiding his strength all this time?"

"Impossible! We all saw that he's a cripple and his meridians are destroyed! I couldn't even feel a trace of energy in him!"

"Then how do you explain what happened?"

"I-I don't know! Mmm, he probably used an artifact, yes that must be it!"

"But I didn't see him holding one... besides, if he used a weapon it should be a middle grade spirit weapon that can hurt Foundation Establishment State cultivators!"

"It should be the pendant he bought! Maybe it's an unknown but very powerful artifact that we didn't know about!"

"I don't think that's possible..."

"Then how do you explain that he was able to easily defeat Young Master Simu?"

"I don't know!"

Whispers quickly spread through the crowd, wondering and trying to come to a conclusion as to how Ling Tian could have beaten Simu Zhicai when he was but a cripple. Everyone witnessed that strangely Ling Tian's hand struck Simu Zhicai's face, sending him flying into the nearby stall before the latter's fist landed on him.

Some thought that Ling Tian concealed his cultivation by powerful techniques, others thought that some expert helped him in the shadows without anyone noticing while several claimed that the pendant he had grabbed from the stand and Simu Zhicai paid for was actually a powerful hidden artifact.

But even so, no one could really understand how a crippled cultivator could win against a real one...

"Not a crippled cultivator? He's actually hiding his cultivation?"

A calm, young voice was heard hidden among the streets as they watched Ling Tian disappear. A young figure and an adult figure easily camouflaged themselves on the street in the crowd.

"Could it be that he has cultivated the Dao of the Body?" Feng Ye's eyes flashed as he brought his hand to his chin, startling Feng Xiao before adding, "The only thing that comes to mind is that this young man has cultivated the method to refine his body, that would be the only answer to his strength without the need to use Chi..."

"Body Refinement? Like Uncle Ao?" Feng Xiao blinked and asked in surprise.

"Yes, most certainly." Feng Ye nodded before shaking his head and smiling bitterly, "That I could assure you a few moments ago, but I really don't think he's a cripple after all."

Feng Ye saw Ling Tian lightly glance sideways at the place where he was hiding with Feng Xiao, giving him to understand that he had found him despite hiding.

All this time, Feng Ye and Feng Xiao had seen in detail what had happened, since before Simu Zhicai had arrived. They had followed Ling Tian secretly, trying to find out who he was or something else. However, Ling Tian had still easily spotted them and looked at Feng Ye.

"Looks like he really isn't gentle at all..." Feng Xiao looked at the unconscious Simu Zhicai being carried by the other youths, realizing that now he had become a cripple and could not cultivate anymore.

"If you are soft today, then you are being hard on yourself in the future by not completely getting rid of the problems." Feng Ye patted Feng Xiao's shoulder, like a father advising his son, "Although he was still a little soft on the surface, in itself the greatest regret and pain for someone is to become a cripple..."

In this kind of world and life, you had to always get rid of future problems. Even if you got rid of the enemy completely, it would still bring trouble as if you didn't. Unless there were no witnesses...

Feng Xiao nodded at what his grandfather said. He knew that he still had a lot to learn despite his status, experience and so on.

Feng Ye and Feng Xiao disappeared almost immediately without anyone noticing.

However, on the other side of the street, a figure with a hood over her head and average clothes covering her entire body so that no one could identify her looked in the direction where Ling Tian had gone.

"Is it really him? Feng Yu... didn't you die?"

A soft voice slightly trembling like a dream of enchantment came from her lips. Her gaze looked at the last trace where Ling Tian had disappeared as her mind thought of countless things.

"He is my only choice I have now..." A whisper came from her thin, soft lips before she turned around and walked in a specific direction, disappearing without anyone noticing.
