Chapter 26: Jake and Dylan

Kyle arched his eyebrows. “Would you like to repeat that sentence?”

“No, no, no, I know better than to challenge you in a fight.” Jake waved his hand rapidly as if being slow will earn him a beating.

The second man, who was even colder and stiffer than Kyle, tapped the table. “Go.”

“You’re telling me that we have to go right now?” Jake’s eyes widened at the one-word communication from his friend. “Dylan, you know better than anyone that the underground is now being restricted by the soldiers, right?”

Best

Dylan frowned.

Kyle shook his head. “We’re still allowed to go there as long as we register our names. It’ll be easier to form a group.”

“Right.” Jake was excited. “Oh right, both me and Dylan awakened strange abilities! You don’t see the faces of those annoying people when they found out that we’re both awakened! It’s golden.”

.....

“Oh, really?”

“Yep! Those people are always b***** about how we’re just some useless second young generation who only know how to play around. Hmph! When they found out that we’re actually capable to fight, their jaw dropped so big that even an egg could fit.”

Dylan glanced at Jake. “You.”
Jake was speechless. “I’m not the only one being called that way, alright!”

“I’m already a titled professor in my twenties. Those who dared to say that in front of my face will be ashamed themselves.” Kyle walked to the refrigerator and took out two canned juices for these two. “And Dylan is cultivated to inherit his father’s business.”

In other words: it was indeed only Jake who was known as useless.

Jake: “...”

Kate listened to their conversation and found that it was quite interesting. She didn’t expect that the so called cold Kyle would actually have good friends that he could fool around with.

Anyway, she herself has a good friend.

For some reason, Kate was now a bit worried for her best friend: Lucy. That girl was a bit of an airhead most of the time. Well, hopefully she will not be in trouble in the future.

“Meow.”

“Oh, is she greets us?” Jake’s interest was immediately attracted. He knew his friends for a long time so he was not offended in the slightest bit. “Hello, Little Kitty. Are you hungry?”

“Meow?”

Jake blinked his eyes when he saw the reaction of Kate.

For some reason, he had the feeling that he was looking at a human when he saw Kate’s blue eyes. It was a strange feeling that Jake couldn’t explain.

He turned to look at Kyle. “Kyle, this cat...?”

“She also mutated.”

“Seriously? Can she talk? Can she transform? Can she burst fire?”

Facing the seriously excited Jake, Kyle waved his hand in annoyance. “She awakened space ability and seemed to have the intelligence of a little child.”

“Space. Wait, you mean that strange space?” Jake was surprised.

“Yes, that one.”

“Damn! I’m so envious!” Jake was looking at Kate and then felt a bit ridiculous. He was actually jealous of a little cat, how embarrassing.

Even Kate was looking at Jake speechlessly.

Can he be more humorous?

“Stop talking about that. What’s your ability?”

“I can control metal.” Jake grinned. “For some reasons, I feel strong connection with metals at around two meters’ diameter around me.”

“Dylan?”

“Water.”

Kate looked at Dylan and felt that the image of such a cold guy controlling the warm and gentle water to be very contrasting...
