However, soft body armor made of fibers is different, has higher technical requirements and is more difficult.

Looking around the world, there are only two types of fibers used to make body armor, aramid and polymer polyethylene fiber, referred to as PE.

As of 2020, my country's annual PE output has reached an astonishing 20 million tons.

Aramid fiber is monopolized by three major factories in the world, namely DuPont in North America, Teijin in Japan, and Taihe New Materials in Yantai, my country.

Of course, as far as aramid is concerned, DuPont is still too powerful, accounting for more than 50% of the global share. Compared with it, Teijin and Taihe New Materials are just younger brothers. Although they work very hard, they have always been There is no way to defeat the arrogant DuPont.

Kevlar is essentially aramid fiber, but it has made major technical improvements based on aramid fiber and added a polymer coating to overcome the problem of accelerated aging by ultraviolet rays.

There is also the rumored third-generation body armor. Currently, various countries are still in the confidential research and development stage, but everyone knows that the third-generation body armor will definitely not be based on aramid, but on PE.
