Chapter 14. Second Day of Married Life

My body was hot. I wondered if I was running a fever again.

I opened my heavy eyelids and realized that I can’t move.

I looked around with my sleepy head and finally realized that the hand by my face was not my own.

This big hand belonged to Stanley.

It was hot and I felt like I couldn’t move, but he had his arms around me, holding my body from behind, and there were several thick quilts on top of that.

I tried to slip out of his arms gently so as not to wake him, but a slight touch seemed to wake him up.

“It’s still early…”

I laughed at the sleepy voice I hadn’t heard before and flipped myself in my arms to look up at his face.

“Stanley, it’s so hot.”

“You’ll catch a cold…”

“At this rate I’ll be hot and sweating, then it’ll cool me down and I’ll catch a cold.

Stanley got up. He stripped off two of the covers on top of us, then crawled back under the covers and snuggled into me.

“You can sleep in today, My Lady. No one will come to wake you up.”

I was about to reply when I noticed something strange.

I propped my elbows on the bed and looked down at his face with a grin.

“I wonder who the Lady is?”

His eyelids lifted, half-closed in a daze.

“Miss Florence…”

It seemed that his sleepy, unreliable face was not good enough.

He made a muffled sound and buried his face in the cushion under his pillow.

“I need some energy right now…”

I laughed out loud and reached for his shortened hair, playing with the soft tips.

I knew I didn’t have to feel that way, but after knowing how happy it made me to be called by my name, I felt a little, just a little, lonely.

“You were so manly and nice last night.”

I muttered with a sigh, deliberately trying to cover it up.

Stanley grabbed my hand as I brushed the dark blonde hair out of his ears.

Serious eyes stared up at me through the gap in my bangs.

“…Florence.”

I waited for a moment, but he never corrected himself to call me ‘My Lady’.

I ruminated in my head a few times, and in the process, his urgent voice from last night calling me ‘Florence’ over and over came back to me, and I snatched the cushion Stanley was burying his face in and buried my face in it vigorously.

“Oh… damn…”

I held my head to cover my ears, which were probably red.

“You try to make me call your name, but why are you embarrassed? When you’re embarrassed, I’m embarrassed.”

I wanted to see his embarrassed face, but I didn’t want him to see my embarrassed face.

I could feel Stanley playing with my hair. He stroked it, wrapped it around his fingers, and it felt so good.

I looked up at him gently through the mess of my hair.

Stanley, who had been dropping kisses on my hair, noticed my gaze and moved closer until our foreheads were almost touching.

“Florence.”

We stared at each other.

In the end, the contest of endurance ended in a draw.

As I crawled into his chest in embarrassment, Stanley kissed the top of my head, embracing me shyly and saying, “Good luck getting used to each other.”
