Tang Xi drew an exorcism array under her bed after making sure there are no other “dirty things” in her bedroom. Because she was used to sleeping on the hard wooden bed on the mountain, this soft and sweet-smelling mattress made her feel a bit uncomfortable. She felt better after sweeping down the dolls that were on the bed.

Tang Xi felt calm enough to start analyzing her situation a few moments later.

Her soul somehow came to this world and went into the original owner’s body. The strange thing was, she couldn’t find any trace of the original owner’s soul inside or outside this body… It was absurd to think that the instant the original owner died, she possessed this body the next second and followed the housekeeper to the mansion. That can’t happen without any error. But if the original owner did not die, then where did her soul go?

There was no formidable weapons and treasures from the previous world. Her cultivation also regressed. The only thing she has right now is the “amulet” hidden in the depths of her soul, but even that guy seemed to have fallen into a deep sleep.

Lost in her thoughts, Tang Xi finally fell asleep after tossing and turning for a long time.

The hands on the cute angel clock on the wall points to five o’clock.

Tang Xi got up with a stretch. She searched the closet for a long time before picking out a simple white silk dress. She took a set of new underwear and went to shower.

The face reflected in the bathroom mirror looked seven to eight points similar to her original looks. Because novel Tang Xi led a hard life, her skin was not so fair, and her long hair was rough and dull; the resemblance will be more evident after a few months of skincare.

She looked at the clock; there was still half an hour left.

Tang Xi saw that her room faced the courtyard when she opened the window. In an instant, the wet ghost in the fountain, the female ghost on the swing, and the hanging ghost all looked up, even the orange cat on the wall meowed.

She scratched her cheek. Does that mean they know I can see them?

This world is too bizarre. Logically speaking, she should not come across so many ghosts during daytime even if the sky was overcast and the sun was missing.

Ordinary ghosts can’t wander too far from their place of death. The ghost in the fountain obviously died there. Tang Xi thought to herself, a grown woman drowning in water that only came up to her knees… That couldn’t be an accident. She wondered if the Tang family knew someone drowned in their fountain. They probably aren’t aware of it; the housekeeper wouldn’t dare to approach the fountain fearlessly otherwise.

While she was staring at the fountain, a limo drove in and stopped in front of the mansion.

Tang Xi might not recognize the car logo but she can tell that it’s a very expensive car. What she was dissatisfied with, however, was that since the car could be driven in, why did they make her walk all the way from the gate with such a heavy bag before?!

The car door opened and two teenagers, a boy, and a girl in school uniform, came down laughing. The boy said something teasingly as they walked into the house, causing the girl to chase and beat him.

Tang Xi sneered. She thought Tang Zhao had a cold personality when she met him this afternoon. Turns out he just doesn’t want to talk to her.

She stopped looking outside. She took out a form from her schoolbag before going downstairs.

*****

Tang Xi heard the laughter from the dining room when she reached the middle of the stairs.

On the long dining table, exquisite dishes were arranged. Tang Zhenying sat at the head of the table holding a tablet, looking at his company reports. The ghost on his back leaned forward and curiously stared at the tablet. Tang Jing joked and laughed in an affectionate demeanor with Yang Wenqiu next to her. From time to time, she would bicker with Tang Zhao who was sitting in front of her. Tang Zhan would then appease his younger brother and sister with a smile.

It was the picture of a loving family.

Tang Xi stopped looking and walked into the dining room. Suddenly, the laughter around the dining table stopped as if someone pressed a pause button on a recorder.

“Has Xixi rested? Come Sit.” Yang Wenqiu quickly reacted and called her over.

Beside her, Tang Jing was secretly sizing up this extra sister that came out of nowhere.

A week ago, her parents suddenly told her she was not the real daughter of the Tang family, that she was brought here by mistake. Tang Jing felt her whole world collapsed at that moment. She had been the young lady Tang for 16 years; she was sought after both in school and in the upper-class circle of Jiangnan City. She spent her entire life making herself shine like a pearl. Then they told her it was a mistake? She was actually a dove that occupied a magpie’s nest; everything she owned belonged to another girl.

Fortunately, after sixteen years of living together, there’s mutual affection between her and the tang family members. After shedding tears in front of her parents several times, they treated her as usual and didn’t mention anything about sending her back. Second brother even vowed that she would be his only sister and that he would never pay attention to this new sister from the village, which made her feel better.

*****

Tang Jing almost thought that the information she read was wrong when she saw Tang Xi.

Although the girl in front of her looked a bit malnourished, she had an elegant posture. Every step she took seemed to be measured accurately and her action of pulling the chair and sitting down was like running clouds and flowing water (natural and smooth), which was very pleasing to the eye. No one would be able to tell that she grew up in a village or that she had no etiquette training. Tang Xi looked like a young miss that grew up in a wealthy family.

Tang Zhenying’s expression eased a little. He was afraid this daughter of his might have been raised poorly and cause embarrassment to his family.
