The Powerful Dragon Witch

Winona's POV

"We need to fly in going to our house. Are you ready, Ana?" She asked, and I nodded. My new parents change into their dragon form appearance, and indeed, the color of their scales is different from mine, but I need to stick with my choice. I change into my dragon form, and I can tell they were mesmerized by the color of my scales. I get down on the ground so Lizardo can climb into my back while I didn't hear my familiar talk ever since we left Dasos, and I can tell she is worried about me.

Cornelio and Agnes fly ahead of us, and I am tailing behind them. I can see dragon armies patrolling in the air around the palace while the knights are on the palace ground doing their rounds, and I wonder why they are guarding the court when they don't have direct enemies.

"Agnes, " I called her through my mind power, and I know the red dragons are good with telepathy.

"Yes, Ana? You forgot you must call me Ma or mother." She replied, and I can feel my face felt warm because it has been a long time that I call my mother mom, and I realized how I miss my witch mother.

"I am sorry, I know I have to practice myself and get used to calling you and Cornelio as Ma and Pa." I said.

"Ma, may I know why dragon armies are patrolling in the air?" I asked.

"Well, King Alexandrix is always afraid that the Dragon Witch will come one day, and now there are rumors they have a sighting of the black dragon." She said, and I can feel my entire body felt numb.

"Really? Do they have some basis or just hearsay?" I asked.

"Well, according to my source, it was only a vision." She replied.

"So there is a witch fortune teller in Dracousia?" I asked, and I wonder if it would be my mom's mortal enemy, Cordelia.

"Yes, and she said the Dragon Witch and the Black Dragon would come." She replied, and I want to give credit to this fortune teller, but it is common knowledge to everyone that one day I will come to save my mother. I fell silent as I take in the beauty below us as we fly going to the forest. We passed a vast land filled with fruits and vegetables since we are not flying above the clouds. We are only flying low, and I understand my new parents want me to familiarize myself with the trail to their home, so if anyone asks me, I can answer them.

I also see the residential areas, and I can tell Dragons are wealthy since their houses looked fancy and luxurious. Then we go lower, and I can see them touch the pond of flowing water, and I am surprised to see beautiful waterfalls cascade on the mountain's peak. And I felt so excited as they glide near the waterfall, and I followed them. I can't stop myself from touching the water with my talons, and this is the first time I see this kind of scenery since I never got the chance to explore the entire Dasos forest because I always stay on the east side. I know this time I can now freely navigate the forest in Dasos without feeling worried because their king now will protect me.

The citizens of Dasos acknowledge me as their friend, and I can ask for their help anytime I want. We are now entering the forest, and they drift under the trees, and I can feel the freshness of the whole place, and it feels like we are back in Dasos forest. Then not so far away, I can see a two-story house made of stone, and they stopped flying, and Cornelio and Agnes quickly transformed themselves to their original human-like form. I lowered myself to the ground so Lizardo can climb out from my back, and when I saw him standing on the ground, I quickly transformed myself, and they all looked at me.

"Princess Winona, we have been waiting for this day, we are one of the die-hard supporters of your father, but we keep it secret because King Alexandrix will hang us if he finds out. Now, we will be your parents the moment you enter the tournament, when our daughter died, we both know it had a purpose because once a fortune-teller had said we are going to serve the future queen of the dragon world." Cornelio declared.

"When you are ready to take back the throne of Dracousia Kingdom, we will be here willing to support you, and we understand that right now, your sole purpose is to save your mother. Still, we are hoping you will take over the dragon kingdom, Princess Winona, because you are the real heir, and it was yours to take." Cornelio added, and his loyalty to my grandfather touched my heart. But I don't want war, and I want to stay as far away from the Thesirea and the Dracousia Kingdom as possible, but I can't tell them that because I don't want to take away their hopes.

"Maybe we can discuss these things after I save my mom because if she is on our side, I know we can be more robust. My mom is a renowned witch, and she has abilities that most mages don't have." I declared, and I saw them nodded their heads.

"By the way, Ana, your family name would be Akardo. So, you will be Ana Akardo, and I hope you will win, and you can save your mother." She said, and I smiled at her.

"Thanks, mother." I declared, and she beamed at me, Agnes and Cornelio are good-looking, and if someone sees us together, no one will question them if I am their daughter except the true red color of my scales.

"Let us get inside now, Ana, Lizardo," Cornelio said, and he motioned us to get inside the house. Their home is beautiful. I can feel the freshness of the entire house because of its high ceiling design and the big windows. I can say all the residences in Dracousia have expansive windows, so they can quickly fly away after they change into dragon form. I wonder what would be my life is if I am just an ordinary dragon. Maybe I can live here in peace.

I didn't want to be a nuisance in society. I am harmless, but why both the Dragon and Mage King wanted me so badly. I hope they all know, and all the dragon armies, including the Crown Prince of Dracousia, will know I am just an ordinary person who wants to have an everyday life together with my mother. Why they think I can bring chaos to their land where I could be their salvation, or I can bring peace to both realms? But because of that stupid prophecy, my life was always in danger. I have never been safe my entire life, I had been hiding for seven years, and this is the first time I got the chance to sleep in a real house, and I almost forgot how it feels.

"Ana, I want to take you to your room so that you can rest," Agnes said, and I can't stop myself from smiling at her, and it feels like she is my real mother.

"This would be your room starting today, Ana, and whatever happens, you are always welcome here to stay. My husband and I felt so honored to have you here in our house." She said.

"Oh, Ana," She said and hugged me tightly, and I can feel that she was thinking about the real Ana, her daughter, and I put my hands on her back.

"Welcome to our home, Ana, and you can find the dresses in your closet, and I believe you don't need to bring anything once you pass the preliminary round. The palace will provide you everything." She declared.

"Thank you, Ma, and that would be lovely, and I hope the judge for the screening tomorrow will choose me so I can participate during the preliminary round, and hopefully, I can enter the proper competition," I replied.

"You will pass, and you have a big chance of winning, and your only strong contender would be Princess Keira, the green dragon princess since she has been rumored as the love interest of the Crown Prince of Dracousia, and we don't know if it is true, but I am telling you to be on your guard always. You can't trust anyone inside the Kingdom because of its politics every one wants to please the Dragon King. That is why we chose to live here, far away from the civilization of Dracousia Palace where we can live in peace." She declared, and I understand what Agnes means.

"I will call you when lunch is ready," She added, and I nod my head, and she left me in my room. I like my spacious room that has a beautiful view. And I can't stop thinking about what will happen tomorrow morning during the screening. I heard from Lizardo that every day for the past days, many came for the screening, but only a few got the chance to pass to be included for the preliminary round. King Alxandrix stated he would choose the final candidates during the preliminary round, and after that the Crown Prince will participate during th selection of the final Crown Princess of Dracousia Kingdom.

I haven't seen the Crown Prince yet, but Lizardo also told me he is handsome, but in my eyes, no one can make my heart flutters except Kai, and I will never fall in love with anyone except with him.
