When night came, Qai and the members of the group particularly picked a spot in the hill where they could easily see any incoming demonic beasts.

And true to their expectation, demonic beasts every now and then attempted to attack.

Deep in the night, while everyone was resting, long howls of wolves echoed in the forest. So when the group figured that they might very soon engage into a fight against an entire pack of wolves, each of them immediately stood in a defensive position.

Qai picked a spot on a tree and readied his Darkwood Composite Bow while Shandian went beneath that tree to attack anything that would get near. Shu Wei and Shu Wu, on the other hand, stepped in front. The two would tank the attacks with their innate defensive skills.

The rest of the group positioned themselves according to their strengths.

Soon, Qai saw from afar a Fire demonic Dire Wolf rushing towards the hill and it was at the half-step sage realm. So even before it reached the foot of the hill, Qai already released 3 lightning arrows to slow down its advance.

'Swooosh,' 'swooosh,' 'swooosh.'

'Baaam,' 'baaam,' 'baaam.'

But what Qai failed to scout was that not too far behind that Fire demonic wolf was the rest of the pack. It appeared to number at around a hundred or so of demonic wolf beasts mostly at half-step sage realm--so it looked like Qai and company were in for a tough night.

What was more troublesome was that when the beasts got near, they realized that there were earth sage Dire Wolves among the pack. The group braced themselves as they faced a horde of demonic beasts in the middle of night.

Quickly the father and son duo raised Earth Walls to stop the onslaught. And altogether they unleashed a fury of skills thrown at the wolves.

'Wabooom.'

'Baaam,' 'baaam.'

'Grooowl.'

'Swooosh,' 'swooosh.'

'Wabooom.'

'Baduuuum.'

Sounds of the fight reverberated in the air.

The slope of the hill was quite handy as it helped them restrict the horde's advance--unfortunately the number and strength of the wolves were too overwhelming. And as the fight dragged on, Qai and the group were starting to show signs of fatigue.

And worse, suddenly an alpha Dire wolf at the initial Heaven stage of Sage realm with two other at the Sky stage appeared watching from behind the pack.

Qai immediately warned everyone of the sudden appearance of the alpha.

Alas, just as when Qai yelled, the alpha of the pack showed signs of attacking. It released a violent fire aura from its mouth and formed a very densed 'Fireball' which was obviously a type of an explosive skill.

Everyone knew it would be troublesome so each of them defensively prepared to face the attack.

When the fireball was speeding its way, a swooping sound from the side rushed towards the attack. A visible large 'Wind Slash' collided with the fireball and split it into two before it exploded.

'Swiiiish.'

'Wabooom.'

***************

Two young cultivators suddenly made an appearance on the side. They seemed to be in their mid 20's but their cultivation levels were evidently deep.

The two, wearing robes with insigna of the Purple Sect Mist, were emiting a powerful aura of Wind and Water elements at the peak sky stage of Sage ream.

So without wasting any second, the two young cultivators relentlessly attacked the pack of wolves.

Qai and his group was dumbfounded by their sudden appearance but recovered from shock quickly and didn't think twice to attack the demonic beasts as well.

This time, since the focus of the beasts shifted to the young cultivators, Qai and his group took advantage of the situation and released their powerful attacks to put an end to the fight.

Meanwhile the two young cultivators poured their powerful attacks towards the alpha and the two other sky stage Sage wolves.

The battlefield was already creating a huge radius of destroyed area when finally one of the young cultivators released a sweeping 'Whirlwind' skill.

'Whoooh,' 'whooooh.'

'Groooowl.'

It created a column of destructuve wind moving rapidly around and around in a cylindrical and funnel shape sweeping up every single demonic beast in the battlefield.

Few of the Dire Wolves ran and managed to escape the wrath of the fearsome wind skill but most of them, including the alpha, ended up dead.

The attack was too strong. And when the whirlwind stopped, everything around the hill was clearly in a complete mess.
