The One after my Heart

Chapter 35:Pop goes the bubble

"That name!! Isn't that her name? What's going on!!? Why? Isn't this just supposed to be a nightmare? Have I really gone crazy?" mumbled Kyra as she felt the world spin around her.

Kyra could feel hysteria set in within her as the question kept repeating in her mind. Lianna Walker. Her so-called mother who had never shown up. Nostalgia crept in as she felt the younger version of her go through endless nights of dejection and tears as the little girl considered herself worthless. Why this name? Why now? And why here in her nightmares of all places!?

That's right; no sane person would ever believe and accept everything even though it was placed right in front of their eyes. Kyra had sincerely deluded herself into believing that she was living a fantastic nightmare. One that her brilliant subconscious was dreaming as she laid in a coma, perhaps on some hospital bed.

She believed that she'd gotten seriously injured that night on new years eve and was now unconscious as her brilliant brain conjured up all the ridiculous stuff. Like witches, ridiculously attractive men who never existed or flirted with her, villains who kept getting worse as the dream continued. How else could a rational person accept these CGI like effects, like that inception movie she'd seen with Maggie happening around her non-stop, for christ's sake!?

According to human logic, the first step of accepting something new or any change was defiance, denial or resistance.

She had her doubts every now and then since no nightmare or dream of hers until today was so detailed, coloured and vivid. Her rational self and reasoning couldn't comprehend and keep up with everything happening.

She even couldn't help being involved at certain times in this nightmare of hers. It was easier to convince young children as they had open minds and soaked everything in. But adults were different. They had their own views, reasoning and logic as they grew up in time, shaping their world.

But now, as reality began to seep in through the gaps of her delusion and confusion, she felt as though she were just a frail hut getting wrecked in the midst of a wild storm.

"Real, it's all real?! It makes no sense. God, what the hell is going on?" she kept mumbling to herself as she looked all around her, taking in everything into her sight, as though a blind person had just regained his or her vision for the first time.

She looked at the luxurious yet rattled moustached clothed man who walked towards her from the Kitthale tree. There were two yellow bright, sparkling plum-like fruits in his hand and a beaming smile on his fair pink face. He had just harvested the Kitthale fruits as he checked the tree to see if it had incurred any damages due to his idiotic short temper.

Fredrick Dartwood knelt on one knee as he crouched down to check on the two little girls he'd injured. He took their pulse and gave out a relaxed sigh after finding out that they were alright. He'd even decided to sacrifice one of the spirit fruits if needed, but thankfully the teenage girl's injuries seemed to have healed completely and now sleeping from exhaustion.

'I've to thank this woman for feeding the child one of the fruits earlier, else things would definitely have gone bad right now, he thought to himself with a sigh.

Fredrick Dartwood looked at her and was about to apologise and thank the woman he heard her ask him in a whisper,

" Is it all real? Is this real?"

Frederick Dartwood gave a baffled look raising his eyebrows at the stunning young woman who stared at him with imploring eyes desperately. The woman in front of him looked around and kept murmuring non-stop as though she'd lost her mind. She even pinched her left forearm until it almost turned purple. He couldn't help but winced as he thought if she had gone crazy?!

'Don't tell me she was injured earlier!? No, her highness wouldn't have been so lax. And from the looks of it they even recognise each other.' He'd caught the look and smile from the Alliance-head at the young woman before she left. Perhaps this ordinary woman was their nanny? But why employ an ordinary human? Or maybe the two girls dragged the woman along their trip? Or the woman was helping them reach home out of kindness?

The questions in his mind kept popping one after the other. His complexion turned worried as he looked at the bumbling Kyra and couldn't help but feel guilt towards her.

"Wait here. I'll be back soon. Will you be alright?" he asked Kyra as he felt clueless as to what was going on with the woman.

'Were all beautiful women as crazy as this one?' he wondered as he thanked his loving wife, whom he thought was just jealous and over-possessive until today. Turns out his dear wife was just saving him!

'Hmm, I need to treat her even better now onwards', he thought as he nodded. 'Perhaps I should take some of her favourite wild ham back home on the way back along with some of those pink poppy flowers that she likes.'

Kyra looked into Fredrick's eyes and replied back," Honestly, I don't think I'll be okay soon."

Frederick was taken aback and was startled. After a moment of serious thought, he looked at her and opened a clenched palm in front of her as he said out, "Dormir".

He blew at his palm as he opened it, and a faint fine whitish powder blew out, hitting her face.

Kyra barely had any time to react, and before she could jump backwards, Fredrick held her shoulders firmly and spoke out hastily," I mean no harm, young lady. This is just to help you ease your mind and body. I sensed you are exhausted and your nerves are on edge. Just relax and rest here. It's safe here now that the alliance head herself has strengthened the spell I'll be back in no time."

It smelt like chamomile, gardenia and perhaps hints of aloe vera, mint or cucumber as she felt the powder cool against her skin. Kyra looked into his eyes and saw the sincerity in them. She faintly nodded as she muttered quietly, "Alright".

Besides, Kyra didn't seem like she'd stand up soon anytime, and the fragrant powder seemed to have relaxed her body utterly.

Frederick gave out a sigh, and knowing his spell would work in a few seconds, he nodded and stood up.

Initially, he thought he'd let Kyra watch over the girls while he would go fetch a carriage, but after seeing the woman lose her marbles, he couldn't take any more risks! What if the rabid woman harmed the children while he was away? This was for the best, he decided as he rushed towards the formation exit after reminding the young woman to take it easy and wait for his return.

Kyra kept gazing at Fredrick's retreating figure as he went further and further away until he disappeared from her sight. She went and sat with her back against the nearby Kitthale tree, as she faced the girls sleeping in front of her and the direction where that middle aged moustached man had gone out from. Just to be safe, she held the arrow she'd dropped earlier. She intended to wait for the man to return but soon within seconds, her eyes shut down, and she fell asleep with her legs outstretched on the soft grass sleeping along her two young companions.

--------------------

Far across thousands of miles away stood a massive building that was no less than that of any majestic palace. In the depths of the palace-like building was an extremely luxurious and large bedroom where a beautiful curvy figure of a woman now sat on the large wide soft bed.

The room had intricate carvings and was grandly decorated with all types of expensive paintings and sculptures meticulously placed as decorations in the room. The alert guards standing outside the room couldn't help but wonder why the person inside was in such a good mood today as they looked at each other.

Peals of laughter were heard along with the jubilant voice of a woman that rang out within the room. "Hahahaha… She's here...she is here! The girl is here finally!!"
