The Love of a Lycan

Chapter 682: I will go with you

After the battle with the devils in Fulbright City, and the crater that appeared there, humans assumed it as a natural phenomenon. It was only natural for them to assume it that way, because it was the only explanation that they could come up with. They defined it as just an asteroid that plunged into the earth's atmosphere, crashing down and forming a somewhat meteor crater.

However, no one could hear anything the moment it happened. Thus, there were more than a handful conspiracy theories about this emerging to the public. And they were all widely circulated in the community.

The only people who knew for sure about the truth behind it, were supernatural creatures living in the human realm.

"Kace?" Torak put more sausages on Raine's plate while talking. "Didn't you say that he disappeared? And that nobody knows his whereabouts?"

Raine cut the sausages into small pieces, stabbing it with her fork before she brought it to Torak's lips. The Supreme Alpha shook his head, indicating that Raine should be the one who ate the food on her fork, but the girl insisted.

"I'll have someone to look for him. Although, yes, I know. He is nowhere to be found. But, there is this one place that I haven't checked just yet. And I think he's there." said Serefina while drinking the warm water on her cup. There were only the three of them in the dining room, while the other lycans had gone. They left a while ago to do their daily task.

Once the battle in Fulbright City had ended, they returned to where they belonged. Red River City, a way safer place for them to stay, since it was part of Torak's territory. Another reason for it, was because Torak had become the most wanted person in this realm.

All of his companies had been through some investigations. It started when they found around twenty corpses of police officers inside Torak's burning residence in Fulbright City. Of all people, they were all police officers, and on top of that, the three of those corpses were high-ranking officers.

Plus, another speculation circulated among the people. Some of them said that Torak had been killed. But, there were some people who saw Torak on the same day, and with the fact that the officials couldn't find his dead body anywhere, it directly nullified the theory of him being dead.

Some of the rumors said that Torak was the one who killed those fallen police officers. But they just couldn't find the motive behind it in order to bring it as a proof, if ever they were trying to drag him to the court for trial. Besides, what was the point of killing those people, when he had nothing to do with them?

Truthfully speaking, what benefits did killing those police officers really give him? And more so, sacrificing his luxurious, grand residence villa on fire? It didn't sound like something a businessman like Torak would do. In the human world, this case was confusing beyond words. And the only person who could clear this up, had been missing ever since.

"Where do you think he is?" Torak asked, after swallowing the sausage that Raine gave to him.

"I think he went to the Northern Coven realm," answered Serefina. She had been looking for Kace for nearly a year now. Still, she couldn't find a single clue of his whereabouts. The Northern Coven realm was the last place that came up into Serefina's mind. She wanted to give it a try, and visit it. Because it was most likely Kace would go there to avoid her, and Jedrek's people, who also had been chasing him.

Even though it wasn't the safest place to run to, at least Serefina could guess who he was living with now.

"What is he doing there?" Raine furrowed her eyebrows. She knew a little of Kace, mostly from some stories that she heard. She couldn't wait to meet the guardian angel who was with him. Another guardian angel? Just like her.

"Hiding, of course." Serefina replied curtly as she put down her cutleries, and pushed her empty plate away from her.

"What is he hiding from?" Raine frowned when Torak shoved a piece of sausage to her mouth while she was talking. She glared at him, but in response, the Supreme Alpha gave her a tender kiss at the top of her forehead.

"Hiding from the world, his responsibility towards the upcoming war, and…" Serefina halted her sentence as she dabbed her lips with a napkin. "...his brother."

"Torak?" Raine tilted her head towards Torak.

"Jedrek," said Serefina, correcting. Many years might have passed, and no matter how long it had been since, his name still had the same effect on her. Perhaps, it would always be that way for her.

"Oh, right." Raine just remembered the reason why Jedrek were trying to kill his brothers' mate. That lycan simply despised their kind. As they were weak creatures in his eyes. "Has he met his mate?"

"Yes, he has," Serefina answered crudely. She stood up from her seat and said, "We will go tomorrow. The sooner we go, the better it'd be."

"Wait, Serefina," Raine bit her lips. She knew she was not supposed to ask this question. But the girl couldn't help her curiosity. "Did Jedrek kill his mate?"

Meanwhile Serefina stood there still. She didn't need to turn around to answer Raine's question. Looking calm as ever, she just shrugged her shoulder and said, "Apparently, no." And after that, she walked out of the dining room.

When it was only the two of them, Raine turned towards Torak. Her big eyes stared deep into his. "I am going with you on this journey."

She was aware that Torak didn't dismiss, nor refuse what Serefina said about the situation. That could only mean that he agreed to go on a journey to the Northern Coven realm, and find his brother Kace there. Raine had made up her mind, she was determined to follow him on this journey ahead. Looking at his mate who was trying to appear dominant, simply made him all amused.

"If I say no, will you listen?" Torak kissed the tip of her nose, and he chuckled.

"No," Raine smiled. "I would still go with you."

"Then you will go with me tomorrow."

==============

After Jedrek gave a few instructions to Tordoff and Theo, the lycan king went back to the carriage and joined his mate. Inside the carriage there was Lilac, who had been waiting for him. There were a lot of things for them to talk about.

But when Jedrek opened the carriage's door, he found Lilac with her eyes closed. She leaned her head against the carriage wall, looking weak as ever. She never appeared weak like this. Yet, the most disturbing thing that Jedrek found was the sight of her hair. The color of her hair wasn't black as it always was. Somehow her hair turned all white.

He had never witnessed such oddity like this before. Not even when she was put under the illusion.

The guardian angel's hair would turn white once in a month. It was exceptionally applied to her. And since her hair would return to normal the next day, no one would notice the changing color phenomenon on her hair. It was a condition that nobody, except Lilac herself could explain.

Carefully, Jedrek put Lilac's head on his shoulder, covering her cold body with a warm blanket.

"What happened with your hair?" Jedrek asked in his deep voice, he was concerned with Lilac's condition. Whether Lilac was asleep, or not, she would answer him if she heard him.

"I lost my power every once in a month…" Lilac replied softly. She looked so fragile, and vulnerable at the moment.

"Why?"

"In exchange for the life that was given by the moon goddess to me," her voice sounded weak from exhaustion. "You killed me, remember?"

After Jedrek heard what Lilac just said, their journey fell into an endless silence, while he kept her warm beside him.
