Yellow sand was flying in the air, the sun rose in the east. Early morning sunlight fell on the sandy soil, the wind rolled, taking the particles of sand within, up towards the distant city.

“Bang” with a loud sound, the man in blue was smashed to the ground. Vines instantly from rose the ground, grabbed the mans limbs, and with a push, sent him high in the sky before banging his beaten body to the ground. After smashing once, the vines rose up to the sky again, carrying the man and once again, smashed him on the ground. It went up, and then smashed down, went up high, then smashed down, this repeated several times after stopping completely. The man lied on the ground, vomiting a mouthful of blood, a broken shoes with a big hole in the middle stepped on the man’s head, and the head immediately disappeared into the yellow sand.

The person who stepped on the head was Qin Wanwan, and the man who was stepped on, naturally, was Jian Xingzhi.

At that moment, Qin Wanwan’s clothes were ragged, hair scattered everywhere, face full of frost, a pair of unkind eyes looking at the distance numbly. Her appearance was shaddy, far from the sweet fairy appearance she had a few months ago.

Jian Xingzhi choked under the sand, Qin Wanwan looked at him, and indifferently kicked him out of the sand. Finally being freed from her grasp, he coughed violently.

“I said no spells!” Jian Xingzhi’s voice choked from his throat, “why are you acting like a rogue?”

“Martial arts, Master,” Qin Wanwan indifferently praised, “without spells, how can I beat you?”

“Then you shouldn’t fight like this!”

Jian Xingzhi looked down at his body, which was completely immobilized, and complained to Qin Wanwan, “We are about to enter the city, you have broken my whole body, I have to recover for a day, won’t this delay the time?”

Qin Wanwan looked at him coldly, didn’t bother to pay attention to him, just carried the sword and walked forward.

Jian Xingzhi saw her walking forward and anxiously called out, “Don’t go alone, take me away!”

“Host, it’s not okay to leave him behind.” 38 persuaded Qin Wanwan, “you have to rely on him to complete tasks.”

“Finding the Linglong Jade and opening the Immortal Gate,” Qin Wanwan said numbly, “I can do it myself.”

“But ……” 38 hesitated, “you just beat him and now leaving his broken body in the desert. Don’t you think he may be eaten by wolves?”

Qin Wanwan’s action paused, she heard Jian Xingzhi still alive and shouting: “Hey, my good disciple. Don’t leave me ah. Come back and carry me away!”

She took a deep breath, resigned herself to turn back and skillfully took out a wooden trailer from her Qiankun bag. After throwing Jian Xingzhi on it, she carried the rope on her other hand and dragged Jian Xingzhi towards the city ahead.

Jian Xingzhi, who was beaten black and blue, was happily analysing her strengths and weaknesses today. The tone of his voice sounded very gratifying: “I was expecting you to accumulate 3000 martial arts proficiency per day, 90,000 a month. But I did not expect you to exceed far beyond my expectations. I think, after leaving the desert, you can beat me without spells. With your talent and qualifications, you can catch up with me in no time. Beicheng, I didn’t know you had such talent! Next time, be careful, don’t break my legs, or you’ll have to drag me around, it’s a waste of time.”

Qin Wanwan didn’t say anything, she wanted to cry, but the cultivation world didn’t believe in tears. Her tears had long been dried up by the desert wind.

This month, at the beginning, she was thinking of beating Jian Xingzhi, to let him know how it feels to be in pain.

Who knew that the first time she stepped on his sternum, he was not only not in pain, but also surprised. He thought she had excellent talent, and made a detailed discussion on how she should step on his sternum more decisively on this matter.

As she heard him, she thought maybe she hadn’t hit him hard enough. So she picked up where she left off and fought with him again.

She didn’t sleep, didn’t eat, didn’t bathe, just one perpetual motion was running through her mind every day, she had to teach him a lesson.

But she didn’t expect her to work all the way up to the point where she beat him to the point of crushing his whole body. He couldn’t move his body and he was only able to lie on the ground with appreciation flowing from his eyes for hers.

When she asked, “Master, does it hurt?” He replied, “Yes, but I am very happy”. When she heard it, she did not feel any joy of revenge, she was even a little desperate.

She felt that she might not be able to take revenge on Jian Xingzhi in the real sense in her life.

He has no weaknesses as a normal person, he is a psychopath.

Violence only makes him more excited, and magic can’t defeat magic.

Qin Wanwan dragged Jian Xingzhi and slowly walked to the gate of the city. When she reached the entrance, she looked up and saw the word “Guicheng” written on the city tower.

The sound of [ding] came, Jian Xingzh suddenly heard the crisp voice of 666.

The new mission has arrived: Provoke the pimp of Feng Yalou. Make the supporting female lead cause a scene in Feng Yalou for capturing you, who was seen by the head of the city and incorporated into the city lord’s house. The supporting female lead will be later arrested by the city lord and became a prisoner. Points on completion: +500.

After the notification, the task was accompanied by a specific description, which meant the task was given according to the plot of the novel.

“Jian Zhiyan first saw the prosperity of Guicheng and was mesmerized. He sneaked out, wanting to buy a beaded flower for Qin Wan, but was matched in standard appearance by the people of the Feng Yalou and forcibly snatched to the brothel to become a young server.”

“The outstanding-looking Jian Zhiyan became Hua Ling*, and was sold at a high price. The city lord, Cuilu, was attracted to Jian Zhiyan at first sight. He bought him at a high price and was about to take him home. Just then, Qin Wan rushed into Feng Yalou, made a big fuss, was seriously injured and finally escaped. Before leaving, she told Jian Zhiyan to wait for her at the city lord’s house.”

[T/N: Hua Ling means, Flower Leader. This title is given to the person who won the Flower Leader Selection held in Guicheng. More information will be revealed in later chapters.]

“Jian Zhiyan was forced to serve city lord Cuilu around. But he resisted, and waited for Qin Wan to rescue him. Finally, at night, Qin Wan came to rescue him, but was defeated by the spiritual power of the profound Cuilu, who captured her as a prisoner. In order to save Qin Wan, Jian Zhiyan had no choice but to please Cuilu. In the city lord’s harem, through repeated house fights, he finally became the most loved one of Cuilu.”

Jian Xingzhi looked at this task and couldn’t help but frown.

Feng Yalou, what kind of place is this?

Incorporating the city lord’s house? Repeated house fights? And what is this, treating him as if he is really a male pet?

“Master,” 666 advised him, “it doesn’t matter how you do it, the key point is you have to go, ah.”

“Why don’t we just snatch the Linglong Jade?” Jian Xingzhi closed his eyes, “it was hard to accept to be Qin Wan’s male pet, now you want to behave me as a real one. What incorporating the city lord’s residence? What is Feng Yalou? Do you really think I am a male pet? Who will serve anyone for mere points?”

As 666 listened to Jian Xingzhi’s tone, she did not dare to persuade him and sighed. She let Jian Xingzhi peacefully run the gong method to repair his body.

Anyway, he is completely a waste now, with his broken body. She would just push him when the time comes.

The system quieted down, and Jian Xingzhi began to repair his body with tranquillity.

Qin Wanwan pulled Jian Xingzhi into Guicheng. She walked towards the main road, wanting to find an inn to rest.

The gate of Guicheng was bustling with people, coming and going. Most of the people were wearing black or white robes, with a white mask with a painted expression of a face on it. There were a few people similar like them, wearing ordinary clothes, looking ordinary. The only difference may be that they looked like ordinary people while two of them looked like roadside beggars.

Who knew if they were having a festival or something, there were many people seen in the city. Qin Wanwan entered the city, and heard the sound of gongs and drums sounding. Not far from them, a crowd of people was seen cheering.

Qin Wanwan was tired of pulling Jian Xingzhi, she walked forward, tried to middle through the crowd of people.

“Make a way.”

Qin Wanwan lowered her head and said to the person in front of her.

But as she went forward, more and more people were crowding ahead. Qin Wanwan raised her head and saw that not far away from them, a hoodless medieval carriage was running to this way. The carriage was made of there general frame, but the woods were black, with white flowers dotted around. The word ‘Dien’ was written on top of the carriage. Inside the carriage, a Guancai* was placed, on top of the Guancai stood on a man.

[T/N: Guancai means coffin. I don’t why a coffin was placed on the carriage. It could be a tradition of Guicheng, since Guicheng means Ghost city.]

The man wore a pure white robe, with a high hat similar to a scholar. He was carrying a bamboo pole in his hand, with paper money hanging from the pole. His face was covered with a mask, which was painted with eyes flowing with blood tears and an exaggerated upturned mouth, so it was impossible to see his face. But the eyes under the mask were born really beautiful.

He was standing on the Guancai of the otherworldly looking carriage, four women were deftly dancing beautifully a bizarre dance at the corner of the carriage. One was holding the three clear bells, the others scattering paper money.

Paper money were strewn in the sky, Qin Wanwan’s gaze involuntarily stopped at the man amidst the papers and dancing women. The man seemed to notice her gaze and looked over at her, the action was charming but somewhat ghostly at the same time. Qin Wanwan couldn’t see his face but still vaguely felt that the man seemed to smile at her.

She froze in place, and when she reacted, she looked back and saw that the medieval carriage had gone far away.

“Don’t look.”

Jian Xingzhi reminded her, “Be careful of being haunted.”

“Are your bones repaired?” Qin Wanwan saw him opened his mouth and hurriedly urged him, “Get up when they have.”

“Let me rest a little longer,” Jian Xingzhi closed her eyes, “I will be alright by the night at the earliest.”

Qin Wanwan dragged him along the street and felt tired. She saw a cake stall next to her, put Jian Xingzhi on the ground and bought a cake. Coming back, she sat down on the ground, and began to eat the cake in a listless manner.

Qin Wanwan felt she couldn’t be more pathetic from the moment she met Jian Xingzhi. She was in such a critical situation, but once she was like a fish mixing like water. After accepting Song Xinian* as her teacher, she had a good life without worrying about food and drink. But her days had become worst as the days passed. Now like a beggar, she was sitting on the ground eating cakes. As Jian Xingzhi saw her numb look, he felt a little heartache.

[T/N: In case you forgot, Song Xinian was Qin Wan’s Master in Wen Xin Sect.]

He looked at her, silently eating cakes. Thinking that she may not be able to accept the gap from being a loving disciple to a beggar, he began to comfort her.

“Don’t be sad,” Jian Xingzhi racked his brain to invent some comforting words, “After you cultivate all the way up, food would be as normal as breathing air. Your situation will be better than normal people. You will certainly live a good life.”

Qin Wanwan froze, she did not react to what Jian Xingzhi was saying.

Jian Xingzhi was about to say more, when an old man threw two coppers and a copper plate on Jian Xingzhi. Then he looked at Qin Wanwan, and then looked at Jian Xingzhi before sighing.

“How pathetic.”

The old man shook his head and slowly walked away with his cane.

Qin Wanwan looked at the copper coins on the ground, and then at the cake in her hand, and instantly sobered up.

What’s going on here!

She, a rich second generation of the Immortal Realm, who was as sweet as honey, lovely and a delicate and gentle little fairy. How on earth did she became a beggar with this ghostly appearance?!

What’s more, she was sitting on the ground eating pancakes, even the passers-by felt pity. She didn’t find anything wrong that Jian Xingzhi was lying on the ground. Then why are they throwing coins at her!

The moment she realized this, Qin Wanwan was overcame with grief. As her eyes turned red, the mood to finish the cake in her hand went away. She didn’t feel the cake smells good anymore.

“You …… don’t cry ah.”

Jian Xingzhi saw her red eyes, hurried to persuade her: “Your Master’s bones will be repaired by tomorrow. I will take you to buy new clothes.”

Once she heard this, Qin Wanwan was even more upset. She raised her head with red eyes, tears snapping down like tain.

“Do you even have money? I’m not spending my money!”

He beat her up, stepped on her, turned her into this dog, and now he had the nerve to spend her money to coax her! What kind of reasoning is that?

“I ……” Jian Xingzhi was confused by her reasoning. He hurriedly promised, “I don’t have I go to earn ah. Don’t worry, I will make money for you.”

“How would you make ah?” Qin Wanwan sucked her nose, and said with swarming aggressions.

In the desert, she didn’t feel her appearance was that bad. But back did to the ordinary human world, looking at the cake in her hands and the copper coins in front of them, she couldn’t help but remember her happy life in the past. The more Qin Wanwan remembered, the more sad she became.
