Zaos suddenly woke up and got up when he heard Milliendra making her usual baby noises. When that happened in the middle of the night, it was the sign that she was about to cry, but then Zaos held her in his arms before she could cry.

"All right, all right, don't cry," Zaos said. "Be good… Ah… that idiot."

It didn't take long for Zaos to notice that Aleni had disappeared, and one didn't have to be a genius to imagine where she was. Although Milliendra was really liking when Zaos carried her in his arms as of late, she still began to cry. Zaos used magic to warm some milk, but she didn't want any. It didn't look like she needed to use the toilet either… not like she could use it yet.

"All right… let's go find that idiot," Zaos said.

Once Zaos said that Milliendra stopped crying. As expected, she had some wild senses and probably sensed that Aleni was in danger. Zaos would do anything to stop Milliendra from crying, but now that he thought about it… how the hell will he bring a newborn baby to a place that will become a battlefield? That was his problem, and no one could help him with that.

Zaos didn't trust anyone aside from Aleni to watch Milliendra, and for all intentions and purposes, he already assumed that the assassins found them in that city and were just waiting for the perfect moment to snack Milliendra and take her back. Zaos wondered how a bunch of mindless assassins would look after her on the trip back home, but that was also something he didn't have time to think about.

"All right, Millie," Zaos said after he put on his dark cloak and covered her along with most of his body. "Be a good girl, and don't make any noise."

As if she had understood the message, Milliendra stopped making her usual baby noises and just stared at Zaos. Putting her to sleep with magic was probably the best option. Still, Zaos had to conserve his mana since something happened to Aleni, and she was one of the best fighters he had seen out there.

Zaos left the room using the window while carrying Millie on his left arm and his Guardian's heart on his right hand. He reached the mansion in the blink of an eye and noticed that the guards weren't outside or even in the garden. Zaos quickly jumped over the wall and then approached the building… something was off, he couldn't sense any presence inside, but he could sense a lot of mana in the building.

"Is this… some sort of magic field?" Zaos frowned.

Zaos wondered how come that word came to his mind so quickly, it seemed like a proper name, but he never heard of something like that. Was it something produced when they developed their magic tools? Still, to create something of that size and keep powering for who knows how long…

Zaos wondered if he could undo the field, but how could he without having any knowledge about it? Not to mention, if he touches it, he might warn the enemies from inside. Since they activated the field, it was safe to assume that they thought that all their enemies had been captured.

After looking around for a moment, Zaos didn't find any weak spots on that barrier. Zaos also assumed that it was made to withstand all types of physical attacks. After all, while that country was known for their magic weapons, they weren't known for their mages…

"I guess I will have to make some noise…" Zaos furrowed his eyebrows.

There was no telling what was happening to Aleni inside, so Zaos had to hurry… as long as they keep their faces covered and deal with all enemies, it should be fine… after concentrating for a moment, Zaos created and enhanced several Wind Swords. From his list of abilities, that was probably the one that would make less noise. In any case, after putting those ones behind the other and then creating one heck of a wind spear, Zaos fired it.

Much to Zaos' surprise, the barrier tried to fight back his attack. However, it didn't do for long… against something so vast and wide, a concentrated piercing attack was the best option. The Wind Swords pierced the barrier and made it disperse. Soon after, they also pierced the walls of the mansion while making a high-pitching sound. Zaos finally found Aleni's presence on the third floor and many others around her, but those presences were…

"What is going on…" Zaos muttered while he felt shivers thanks to those presences.

Zaos imagined that Milliendra was going to cry since the enemies were obviously ominous. However, even though she was still awake, she didn't make any noise. Regardless, Zaos jumped and then reached the third floor, where he found Aleni being tormented by some kind of electric barrier that prevented her from moving.

For a second, Zaos was paralyzed when he saw the faces of the weird creatures around Aleni. They weren't human-like… it seemed like the flesh of their faces had been flayed. The tone of their skin was red, like it still was pulsating blood. Those weird creatures had weird presences, but Zaos could sense human-like mana inside them. They suddenly made weapons out of nowhere appeared, but before Zaos could even land, he hit them with Earth Swords. However, in the middle of the room, the creature grabbed the projectile, and it was only pushed back a few meters. That man was bald and had dark, pointy ears… according to what Zaos heard, Meriton was also bald… could that be him?

"This presence… she is here!" The bald man, a red-faced man who had pointy ears, said.

In a single instant, all the dots were connected inside Zaos's head. That man was certainly Meriton, and his current appearance explained why he hadn't been seen in several months. However, what was really important was the fact that he felt Milliendra's presence… somehow. Meriton had a connection to the demon god. Due to that, Zaos's earth-shattering bloodlust. Paralyzed everyone in the room, even Aleni.
