Chapter 64: Shocking Facts

ーー

The guards lined up in a row, making me feel as though they were on high alert, ready to protect Princess Chai from any harm I might cause her.

“Good day, Quatra-sama. I’ve been wanting to speak with you for quite some time.”

Princess Chai said elegantly, sipping her tea on the café’s terrace inside the school.

As usual, she was as charming as a flower with her long lashes curled around her glistening blue eyes, which were being gently swayed by the early summer breeze. Her golden hair also made me want to reach out and touch it.

But I knew.

She was definitely different from her predecessor.

“Why do you look at me with such a fearful expression? It ruins your beautiful face.”

“I apologize, Princess Chai. It’s just how I was designed.”

“Well.”

She said with a high-pitched, adorable voice, playfully teasing me. I couldn’t tell if it was intentional or not, but she seemed to enjoy getting on my nerves.

Taking deep breaths to avoid being noticed, I quietly placed my teacup on its saucer.

“Have you adapted to life at the academy?”

“Thanks to Julian-sama teaching me various things, I haven’t encountered any problems.”

“That’s good to hear. Luvalantia is a wonderful country, but of course, it can’t compare to Slophone, the beautiful female-led nation.”

As she smiled brightly, the tea in Princess Chai’s teacup swayed and made big ripples.

“Come to think of it, I’ve heard rumors that Slophone has something really nice. All the women in the country must be using it, right?”

“What are you talking about?”

Princess Chai furrowed her eyebrows in confusion at my sudden comment.

“That’s why Slophone is called the beautiful female-led nation. It seems a bit sneaky to me.”

“What are you saying? Being called a beautiful nation just because they wear makeup? Besides, only the royalty…”

Princess Chai blushed and became indignant, noticing her own slip of the tongue only after seeing my expression.

To fall for such a cheap provocation, I am sure that Princess Chai is not the same as before.

“Did I say anything about powder?”

“You… fooled me?!”

“That line is also strange. If you really knew nothing, wouldn’t you be angry and feel insulted? You think you were deceived because you understand the intention behind my words? You remember that you gave me the powder.”

I gracefully turned my amber eyes towards her, and she responded with a loud scoff, like a textbook villain towards me.

“You realized it. That I also have memories from before the regression.”

“No, I wasn’t sure. That’s why I set the trap. I didn’t think you would fall for it so easily though.”

“You…!”

I calmed her trembling fists and tried to maintain a calm demeanor.

“Don’t get so excited. The guards will become suspicious.”

“…You really are someone who won’t change even if given a chance, aren’t you?”

With Princess Chai gnawing on her words with hatred, I opened my eyes in surprise for the first time.

She twisted her mouth triumphantly and snorted through her nose.

“It was me who turned back time. I was the one who saved you, remember?”

She smiled softly, and it was truly charming.
