Chapter 58: Fairies are alive and well

“Welcome, Princess Chai, to the Royal Luvalantia Academy. All students and teachers warmly welcome your enrollment.”

The principal moved his mustache up and down while giving a beaming smile to Princess Chai.

“I am very happy to receive such a warm welcome. However, I would be troubled by any special treatment. I am here to learn just like everyone else.”

When I was sixteen, I was in this space before. It was like a fairy tale had come to life, with a flower fairy-like girl. Her platinum blonde hair, which reached her shoulders, fluttered adorably as she walked.

Her big round eyes were framed by long lashes that seemed to make a sound every time she blinked. Her white cheeks blushed faintly from nervousness, and her delicate limbs were constantly moving.

From the top of her head to the tips of her toes, everything about her was the same as before.

But her actions in the next moment were something that did not exist in my memory.

“Your Highness Stratis!”

On the stage of the auditorium, Princess Chai was beaming with joy as she found Julian-sama among the crowd of students, and even went down from the stage to run towards him.

“Long time no see, Your Highness Stratis! I was greatly indebted to you in the Timberth Kingdom.”

“Princess Slophone.”

“I’m really glad to be able to attend this school where you are!”

Compared to Julian-sama, who showed almost no change in his expression despite being somewhat surprised, Princess Chai expressed her joy cutely.

I was surprised by this behavior, which was not like her before. At that moment, I felt that Princess Chai glanced at me, but her gaze quickly returned to Julian-sama.

Not only me, but everyone in this place was surprised by this situation. The students who were making noise were forcibly admonished by the principal, who chose appropriate words.

Sanna and a few other young ladies by my side kept glancing over here, seemingly concerned for me. Although my heart was trembling with unrest, I kept my chin up and remained composed.

As I had my lunch on the terrace, I gazed absentmindedly at the fluffy clouds in the sky. The surrounding students perhaps saw me as quietly furious about Princess Chai’s actions this morning.

However, my real emotions were a bit different. I wasn’t furious, but simply had questions.

I didn’t know much about Chai Slophone, but I could safely say that the previous her wouldn’t have done such a thing.

The previous her was kind to everyone without any discrimination. She didn’t seem to be particularly close to Julian-sama, and appeared to be focused on caring for me as his fiancée.

Despite that, I had acted in a way that could have taken a life due to ugly jealousy.

As I gazed at the clouds that had changed shape in accordance with the direction of the wind, I couldn’t help but wonder if Princess Chai’s personality had also changed from what it used to be, just like how Julian-sama and I had changed.

The wind can alter the form of clouds, after all.

“Ah, um, Aliseteen-sama…”

Sanna spoke hesitantly to me as I held onto my bread without trying to eat it.

“Are you… Are you okay?”

“What…are you talking about?”

“This morning, Slophone Princess’s…”

Ah, so they all think I’m angry.

“Don’t worry about me, Sanna. Thank you.”

“…”

Just like in that scene from a while ago, she once again dropped the sandwich from her hand with her mouth gaping open.

It seems that nowadays, she often drops her sandwiches.
