103. The Twin Fiends

Finally, Feng Xi left the Heaven Peak Palace and certainly wasn’t going to return anytime soon.

Along the market, Feng Xi squeezed and crammed through the crowed streets. Preoccupied, he was completely unaware of the two suspicious men who were following him.

The two people had wanted to strike multiple times, but because Feng Xi expertly weaved through the crowd, they were hesitant and had no opportunity to approach the boy. They used up what little patience they had and could only stare at Feng Xi’s back while gritting their teeth.

“Brother, is the kid a food addict? He’s been eating non-stop and we haven’t seen him take a break. To make matters worse, he keeps forcing his way into the crowd. How are we supposed catch him? Could he have figured out that we’re tailing him?” Astounded, the middle-aged man in white had never seen someone who could buy and eat so much food. An hour had passed, and the boy didn’t seem tired at all.

“Most likely not, the boy’s spiritual energy only slightly fluctuated. He probably hasn’t noticed us yet.”

The accomplice, the middle-aged man in black shook his head. He used his spiritual sense to scan the boy’s body, only to find that his energy fluctuated faintly. The man in the black cloak before had been surprisingly strong, so they could only test their plan on this boy.

Whilst the two men didn’t know what that fruit was called, they overheard the boy describing its properties and desperately wanted to seize it by force. If they obtained that fruit, the Twin Fiends could definitely break though the God King realm and become dominating cultivators of the God Sovereign realm. This way, those revengeful clans wouldn’t be able to kill them, unless they sent someone stronger.

Nevertheless, this was only achievable if they stole the mysterious fruit from the boy.

However, the Twin Fiends found it strange that the boy wasn’t carrying anything resembling a sack that could contain the fruits. Where could the fruits be hidden? It seemed extremely absurd to stuff them in a cloth bag!

“Could it be a space ring?” The White Fiend nervously swallowed as he fixed his eyes on the boy.

“How could it be a space ring, dumbass? Even cultivation methods of the Heaven Stage couldn’t compare with it. I heard that in the Three Worlds combined, there are no more than ten rings. How could an ordinary boy have something like that? You’re being delusional!” The Black Fiend glared at his partner.

“Then what’s going on?” The White Fiend started to sweat.

“It doesn’t matter where he hid the fruits. We’ll force it out of him.” The Black Fiend glared viciously at his target while his greed became even stronger. Although the boy was unlikely to have the ring, all would be better if he truly had one. As long as he fell into their hands, the space ring would belong to them.

“Brother, he went into the alley.” The White Fiend suddenly said with excitement.

“Chase him!” The Black Fiend raised his head just in time to see the boy’s figure enter the alley. He immediately chased after him with the White Fiend followed closely behind. Both had very excited expressions on their faces, since the moment had finally come.

When they rushed around the corner, what they saw was an empty alley with not a single person. Where was the boy? The Twin Fiends abruptly stopped in confusion. When they finally snapped out of it, a dangerous aura suddenly crept up from behind and enveloped them. Their bodies were flung into the back of the alley so abruptly that they only had time to realize ‘we were tricked’ before their bodies were smashed on to the ground and the air was filled with their agonizing screams.

The Black Fiend immediately staggered to his feet and stared alertly at the boy standing at the alley entrance. The boy beamed with joy, seeming like an innocent immortal who fell into the Human World. However, the Black Fiend didn’t dare to underestimate the boy anymore. If the boy could avoid his spiritual sense, that meant the cultivation level of the boy was higher than his.

Realizing this, the Black Fiend grew pale as he didn’t expect today’s mission to be so dangerous.

“Why are you two following me?” Feng Xi grinned and spoke in a gentle and sweet voice which made his words sound less threatening. “Tell me the truth or you’ll get a taste of my fist.”

The Twin Fiends glanced at each other. Although this boy seemed weak, they probably couldn’t beat him even if they fought together. The boy’s sneak attack had succeeded only due to their carelessness. At present, they needed to be careful or the reputation of the Twin Fiends would be ruined.

“Boy, you have the guts! You dare to launch a sneak attack on us! Don’t you know who we are!” The Black Fiend coldly looked at Feng Xi while releasing a powerful energy that surrounded his body. From that energy, it seemed that his cultivation level was at the sixth grade of the God King realm. “Since you’ve already fallen into our trap, then don’t blame us for being merciless. Quickly take out all your valuables!”

Originally, they only wanted to steal the fruit, but they changed their minds now.

“That’s right, if you give us all your possessions, we’ll spare your meager life.” The White Fiend immediately released his aura. Similarly, he was at the sixth grade of the God King realm.

“Oh, it seems that you guys are thieves. This is the Rest Night City, aren’t you afraid of being caught for stealing?” After hearing their threats, Feng Xi felt surprised. There were actually people who dare to steal in Rest Night City? Wasn’t this the safest place in the Three Worlds?

“Hahaha, so what if it’s the Rest Night City! I can come and leave as I please! Other people cower before the guards, but I’m not afraid! The higher-ups will support me, why should I be scared!” The Twin Fiends immediately started to laugh. They only dared to come up with this plan because they had stronger powers backing them up.

“You have superiors? What does that mean?” Feng Xi asked curiously.

Abruptly, the Black Fiend’s face turned cold, “Boy, stop wasting our time. Your friends won’t be able to save you. Will you hand over your stuff or not?”

Feng Xi tilted his head and grinned: “If you answer my question, I’ll decide whether to hand it over.”

“Silly boy, you’re dead meat!”  The Twin Fiends then suddenly proclaimed, “Since you won’t hand it over, when you’re dead, don’t cry to the Lord of Underworld about who killed you. Remember, we are the Twin Fiends!”

The two of them drew their weapons and walked toward Feng Xi.

Feng Xi quickly stopped smiling and fixed his gaze firmly on the people walking towards him. Suddenly, he extended his finger and said in a playful tone, “Sky Buddy, Hairless Chicken, squash them!”

In an instant, the sound of squawks and roars echoed above the Twin Fiends. Two extremely large figures fell on top of the two alarmed people. They didn’t have enough time to dodge before they were pressed against the ground. They foamed at the mouth as they couldn’t inhale enough air. It was especially difficult for the Black Fiend as he was pressed by the Sky Breaking Beast who was at least double the size of Hairless Chicken. The pressure caused his eyes to become bloodshot immediately.

Feng Xi squatted down and smiled at the Twin Fiends who had no way of escaping when facing the Saint Realm Demon Beasts.

“How is it? Will you talk? Speak up or it will be more than being squashed!”

“I… I’ll… Talk.” The Black Fiend nodded quickly.

Possessing two Saint Realm Demon Beasts wasn’t even possible for first-class cultivators of the God and Demon Kingdom, but this mysterious boy had two! He could randomly call out these beasts, had the fruit that was able to increase one’s cultivation level and possessed a space ring! They finally understood that this was the most difficult mission they had ever faced, and it posed the biggest threat to their lives. They knew immediately that they couldn’t speak carelessly anymore.

“You’re criminals?” Feng Xi asked.

“Eh… Yes.” The Twin Fiends hesitated for a while.

“From what I know, the Netherworld can’t be accessed by everyone, let alone that you are criminals. How did you get here?” Feng Xi heard from the God of Books that the doors to the Netherworld were strictly guarded and could only be entered using a supreme magic circle. However, that type of magic circle could only be opened with his leader’s permission. How did these two people, who looked like rogue cultivators, get in here? They also mentioned that they had superiors, which piqued his interest.

The Twin Fiends were in shock. They didn’t expect that this boy would hit the nail on the head. However, that person had specifically ordered them not to reveal that they were following him. If they told the boy… The mere thought about that mysterious and scary figure sent shivers down their spines.

“Someone brought us here, he gathered a lot of cultivators like us. It seemed he wanted us to do something and told us to meet him somewhere a month later. We aren’t familiar with that person. Since he was covered in a black cloak, we didn’t see his appearance clearly.” The Black Fiend hesitantly pieced together this unimportant information.

“Then how did he bring you into the Netherworld?”

Feng Xi was persistent. If they didn’t answer his question, he would keep asking. After all, he still had his previous life’s experience, so he understood how to interrogate people. Although the Black Fiend had answered with what seemed like important information, in fact, he hadn’t said anything important.

“About that, we really don’t know. He made us wear a mask which sealed our spiritual sense, but it appeared that we passed through a magic circle. We don’t know the specifics.”

“Oh, it seems you have ulterior motives. Do you mind telling me?” Feng Xi asked, smiling.

The Twin Fiends suddenly became speechless and smiled bitterly: “Young master, if we know, then we would’ve confessed already. The problem is we don’t even know what that person wants us to do!”

“You dare cause trouble on my leader’s turf. This won’t work, why don’t we go visit my leader!”

Feng Xi thought for a while. Anything suspicious couldn’t be overlooked. If he brought these two to his leader, maybe the leader would be in a good mood and give him some free time. Killing two birds with one stone! It was decided then!

An aged yet chilling laughter suddenly came from the depths of the alley. “Little boy, I can’t let you take them away. It was quite troublesome to get someone in here. If I handed them over, it won’t be easy to find another pair of twins!”

The Twin Fiends’ faces turned deathly pale.

Wasn’t it the voice of the strange person that sent them here….
