The Divine Wolf...or?

Chapter 44 - Trouble Brewing

The voice seemed to belong to a young man, even though it was a little feminine. Ark couldn't care less about something like this though, and he just kept walking. He didn't think the person was talking with him, and even if they did, they didn't seem like they had any good intentions.

"You dare ignore my young master?" You dirty commoner!"

As Ark heard this, he was sure it was directed at him, but he still didn't care, these people seemed to think themselves superior just because of their heritage, and Ark hated stuff like that. He believed that people should be judged based on their ability and personality, not some irrelevant things like heritage and race.

The "young master" who was being ignored, was enraged at the behavior of this random plebeian. This commoner was ignoring him? He'd show him what happened to people who ignored him!

"Claus, show this plebeian what's up!"

"As you wish young master!" Claus answered with a bow. Claus was about 40 years old, pretty handsome, with a very humoristic mustache that curled up at both ends. He was also a "master" of the sword, self-proclaimed of course. He was currently wearing a butlers outfit, with a pretty normal looking iron sword attached to his waist.

As he was ordered by his young master, he instantly rushed out toward Ark, since shedding blood in broad daylight would be quite bad, he decided to use the "peaceful" route for now.

"Kid, stop right now!"

Finally, Ark stopped and turned around to look at these clowns that just had to bother him for some reason. As Claus was stared straight in the eye, he felt a shiver run down his spine, and he almost wanted to run away, but he couldn't disobey his young master, and he just gulped nervously before speaking again. The young master was currently seated in a carriage behind him, but he could still feel the slight killing intent emanating from behind him.

"Are you deaf kid? Why did you not listen to my young master?" he said as is palms started to sweat a little.

"How was I supposed to know he was talking to me? My name isn't You" Ark spat back, he wasn't in the mood for this, and he was starting to grow irritated.

"Hmph, who are you to talk back to me?" Claus followed up with, he couldn't believe the nerve of this random peasant.

"First you ask me a question, then you don't want me to answer? Are you stupid?"

As Claus was about to refute this kid in front of him, he was cut off.

"You should probably get out of my sight before I get mad!" Ark's hair involuntarily started to fly up in the air, as a dominating aura swept out from his body, encapsulating this random man. He was truly starting to get mad now, why did this random dude need to mess with him right now? As the man was enveloped by Ark's aura, he let out a groan as he was sent down on his knees. Ark couldn't be bothered by this anymore, and he started to walk again.

The young master, seeing this, was enraged. The air suddenly violently contorted as an arrow appeared out of nowhere, aiming straight for Ark left leg.

Clank!

The arrow was suddenly interrupted by a spear that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere in Ark's right hand. The young master, noticing this, was dissatisfied and left the carriage. Ark's eyebrows furrowed as he saw this young master in front of him. It was a teenager that was about 1,7 meters tall, he had pretty blonde hair and golden eyes. An aura of holiness surrounded him as he took several steps forward. This was probably a ladykiller in most people's eyes, but Ark couldn't care less.

"Do you not know who I am?" The arrogant young man said as he stopped five meters away from Ark.

"I couldn't care less about who you are, what do you want from me?" Ark didn't want to entertain this young man in front of him, and he needed to find a doctor for Thufrat before his time ran out.

"Hehehe, my name is Lucius, and I'm from the holy church!"

"As for what I want from you? What do you think? You're trying to take a filthy dwarf into the city, and one that has the darkness element all around him! Of course, I'd stop you!"

Hearing this, Ark was a little dumbfounded, before he started to get pissed off, did he just call his friend filthy?

"What did you call him?"

"Huh, speak up, I can't hear you, commoner!" Lucius sneered as he mocked the commoner a little more, this was something he loved doing after all.

"I said, WHAT DID YOU CALL HIM?"

Ark ended his sentence almost roaring at Lucius, and he was on the verge of beheading him right here and now because Ark was really mad right now, and this Lucius just kept screwing around with him, and he even insulted his only friend, of course, he would be mad.

Lucius didn't expect Ark to get this mad, and he fell back on his own bottom as he was frightened. Lucius came from an established earl's house, and he had never been shouted at before, not even by his own father for that matter. Not only was he an aristocrat, but he was also talented in light magic and was taken in as a disciple by the holy church, he felt like he had the rights to be arrogant. He was frightened at first, but that fright soon turned into anger, who was this random commoner to yell at him?

"I called your friend a filthy dwarf because that's exactly what he is!"

"Who are you to try and bring such a creature into the city? Do you want to contaminate the entire city?"

As Ark heard this, he finally snapped, this motherfucker seriously liked to spout nonsense, and he wasn't going to just stand here and swallow it. Ark's eyes shone splendidly as he raised his spear up and behind his shoulder, getting ready to throw it. Lucius seeing this, was scared once again, was this dud seriously going to attack him? There was nothing wrong with what he said anyways. Humans were superior to dwarves anyways right? They were just halflings who didn't have any worth, why should they be allowed into the same city as humans?

As Ark was just about to throw his spear out, another figure emerged from the carriage.

"What's going on out here? Why have we stopped outside of the gates?"

The figure that emerged was a young girl, about Ark's age. She had pale white skin and wavy blue hair, that reminded people of the ocean. Her eyes were olive green in colour, and she had a gentle but currently confused look in them.

"This commoner is trying to take a dwarf into the town, so I tried to stop him, but he suddenly tried to attack me!"

"Why would you need to stop him?"

"Huh? Because dwarves are dirty? Why else?"

As the young girl heard this, she was disgusted, how could you believe in something like this? She seriously hated the fact that she needed to travel around with such an idiot. Still, what could she do about it? He came from a prestigious family, and she didn't feel like offending him right now.

"Just apologize to this young man, and we can call it quits, that's okay with you right?" She said as she cast a glance toward Ark.
