55 – Platoon Assessment (2)

Hearts of General has a distinct difference from other strategy games. It is that all systems, including personnel organization, are unlocked according to rank.

If a typical tactical strategy game starts as a commander-in-chief who can lightly command hundreds of thousands or millions of troops.

All players in Haojie must start as a second lieutenant unless a special mode is applied or the game settings are changed.

So, the first thing you can do is to train your platoon members and increase their individual stats as if you had set up hero units in advance.

Expand your major, get promoted repeatedly, and actively intervene in the world war that will occur five years later through random events such as artifact acquisition encounters and the establishment of special forces.

That was the basic goal of Hao Jie.

It was for this reason that I was reluctant to join either Sonny Zeppelin’s Special Response Brigade or Zygmunt Blakovich’s National Gendarmerie.

First of all, the special response brigade led by the great mage.

I think it would be good to establish a major, but it is far from enough to create a primary support force. The Special Response Brigade would literally be treated as a special forces unit. It would be much better to leave the line first and join later.

Next, the National Military Police.

As much as Lieutenant General Zigmund likes me personally, he might be able to fill the position of lieutenant general.

This would have the enormous advantage of building an influence in a group that was closest to the central power and could control the most powerful force in the entire Ukrnian military.

But the problem is that I am not a politician.

Although the maximum political power stack was taken, this is only a soldier’s ability. It was not known if he would speak to a battalion commander or division commander, but it was thoroughly unknown whether he would be able to speak well as a civilian or aristocrat.

So I wanted to fall into a position in charge of research or education. Not a training camp, but a unit that really establishes doctrine and tactical strategy.

First lay the foundation, then face the world war as a field commander.

Perhaps, as with the case of Belgordo Fort last time, as Sonny Zeppelin said, the Sobie Empire is the first scenario to enter.

After that, the Fru-Breton Alliance of the Free Alliance will come in to protect the buffer zone even in the northwest of Ukraine.

With the arrival of the Reinhalt Empire, influenced by Prü-Breton’s participation in the war, this small principality will be completely destroyed.

However, in other words, if the Empire’s invasion could be ‘somehow’ delayed in the early consumption, it meant that the battlefield could be overturned.

Because Sobie comes in, the Allied Powers next, and Reinhardt who comes after him as an ally of Soviet Empire.

In other words, if the invasion of the first consumption is endured, the Allied Powers will not even have a justification for Reinhardt’s intervention, which will follow the Allied Powers.

If you wait that long, then bring about a coalition of other neutral countries and put pressure on the empire in all directions…….

This bloody war could pave the way for the Principality of Ukraine to survive.

And in order to do that, in the end, excellent technology must be supported.

By the way…….

One of the core technologies right now is this moment. That, too, was the first impression born in the hands of a ‘old-fashioned senior officer who only talks about what he has to say’.

“This is awesome!! Viktor Zelensky? He will definitely appreciate it too!! No, if you don’t recognize him, he’s an idiot!”

I couldn’t contain my excitement, and I jerked up Debra Bennett’s hand. Lieutenant Debra’s face clearly showed a look of bewilderment, as if she had not expected to react so violently.

“Oh, no…… Platoon leader? I know this is a great skill, but is it a fireball? The output isn’t too high…… I was planning on improving it with the help of your platoon for the rest of the time…….”

“Of course! Improvement, we will do our best to help!”

It was an unexpected and tremendous achievement.

“Fireball!!”

Kwaang-!!

Just before the fireball fired by Lumia hits the magic barrier, it is offset by another magic and disappears.

“Not bad. But the weakness is too obvious.”

“In what way?”

“It feels like the caster is directly operating the magic circle after stealing some of the mana that will form the magic barrier and carving a separate spell while maintaining the form of the barrier. Am I right?”

“Um…… That’s right.”

Debra reacted in disbelief to Claude, who immediately recognized the principle of magic just by seeing it once.

As a war hero, the insight that comes from the difference in experience is bound to be enormous.

“First, since it is activated with the naked eye, it is vulnerable to fast lightning type magic. Anyway, to activate the spell, the caster must be aware of the exact timing of the spell.”

He began mercilessly listing the shortcomings of the prototype defense-dispel magic established by Lieutenant Debra Bennett.

“Second, only magic that hits a large area with weak energy, like the fireball you just used, has the greatest effect. Instead of narrowing the contact area, the penetrating magic that concentrates power at one point is rather less effective than a normal magic barrier.”

Debra listened blankly to Claude, then took out a notebook from his front pocket and took notes quickly.

“Lastly, why Magic Missile? Even beginner magic that lowers its power with beginner magic is the same. At this rate, the moment you go up to the intermediate level, it will break through.”

If you just listen to Claude’s explanation, it’s a prototype. No, it was a technique that had not yet reached that level, so it was quite unreasonable to use it in actual combat.

Still, if you have enough insight to clearly list down the downsides, wouldn’t that mean you know how to solve it?

“Then what should I do?”

Lieutenant Debra Bennett asked Claude, who picked up even the parts that even the developer hadn’t grasped, with eyes full of anticipation.

The answer that came back was—.

“I don’t know about that.”

“Yes?”

“If I had known, I would have gone to the Mage Tower after defeating this f*cking army, or I would have been in the west side of the Mage Development Department.”

It was a fact that hit the bone. The unexpected answer froze me and Debra Bennett as well.

The only person to bet on was, of course, Bell Mayer.

“No, what if you only talk about the flaws and don’t give the solutions?”

“Ha, please. I am not a person who studies magic arts. A soldier.”

“You are very irresponsible. As always.”

“Sergeant Bell, Sergeant Claude! Please stop it!”

Seeing the two of them growling when they said there was something they could stick to, Rumia was frightened and began to stop them.

Then, Roxanna, who had been standing still watching her demonstration all this time, opened her mouth.

“…… I don’t know about the first drawback, but in the end, the second and third drawbacks are that the density of the mana that makes up this spell increases, doesn’t it?”

“Actually, that’s what he said. The first one ultimately depends on my reaction speed, so it’s unavoidable.”

Debra also nodded her head in agreement with Roxanne’s opinion.

“But as the density of mana increases, of course the efficiency decreases. Because the mana I can use is limited.”

This is an extremely original story.

The issues Claude pointed out were ultimately caused by the lack of output of Debra’s prototype Dispel-Defense magic as a whole.

In the first place, in order for ‘Dispell-Defense’ magic to be commercialized in earnest in Hearts of General, the development of various magic techniques, including equipment called ‘Magic Noble Phantasm’, is a priority.

No matter how much Lieutenant Debra is a rare genius, it is natural that it is impossible to improve a technique that originated from a simple idea to the point where it can be used in actual combat.

In terms of civilization, it was as if modern units appeared for ‘some reason’ in the Middle Ages.

Limited operation may be possible, but since other research has not been preceded, improvement or mass production is absolutely impossible.

Because she was acutely aware of that fact.

“Ah…… Then this is not something to show at the time of evaluation. After the main evaluation is over, it should be shown as an incidental research achievement.”

I was regretful and only licked my appetite.

“No, that’s not what I meant…… !”

“Does Sergeant Roxanna have any other ideas?”

“If you ignorantly raise the output using the magic of me and the platoon leader…… At the time of the evaluation, I wanted to say that it will be used enough.”

“????”

Everyone except Claude’s eyes widen at Roxanna’s completely unexpected proposal.

“I’m not good at handling magical powers. I can’t do the feat of carving a separate magic formula into the magic barrier like the head of facility management.”

She was a psychotic patient.

It is dangerous even if you use too much mana, and it is dangerous if you use too little mana and the mana fills up to a certain level.

This is also the reason why she entrusted herself to her army as a magician.

Because there is no better place to use mana as much as you want and replenish it in an emergency.

“But it can pour out explosive mana all at once… …. Even if it is inefficient.”

“Sergeant Roxanna, that means…… !”

“Please teach me this spell. I will definitely make this magic a success in this platoon evaluation.”

Roxanna’s green eyes flashed.
