Electroslag remelting steel is a method of smelting by using the resistance heat generated when the current passes through the slag as the heat source.

In other words, the purpose of remelting steel is to improve metal purity and ingot crystallization. The steel remelted by electroslag has high purity, low sulfur content, less non-metallic inclusions, smooth ingot surface, clean, uniform and dense, and uniform metallographic structure and chemical composition.

In fact, this technology existed in the 1950s, as did Xiong Guo. However, there is no advanced electroslag remelting steel.

The quality of electroslag ingot depends on reasonable electroslag remelting process and equipment conditions to ensure electroslag process, and this kind of steel is the inevitable choice for manufacturing tank gun. It will be known from later generations that almost all gun barrels are of this technology.

As for the self tightening of the barrel, it is to twist the barrel with a hydraulic press or other machinery. The plastic deformation layer by layer is generated inside the barrel due to the huge torque, which gives the barrel a huge inward stress. This stress was originally enough to disintegrate the gun, but because the gun steel was quite flexible, it maintained the gun from disintegration.

This stress pulls the fire gun to collapse internally, but it is pulled by the tensile performance of the gun itself, so there is a high prestress in the gun, up to hundreds of MPa. When the gun is fired, because the gas not only pushes the ammunition forward internally, but also has a great force to support the gun barrel. This force is opposite to the prestress in the gun barrel, Therefore, the barrel self tightening process greatly improves the bore pressure bearing capacity of the gun.

Both methods are to make the tank barrel bear high chamber pressure, and the result is that the shell has greater kinetic energy when it flies out.

Qin Guan did not directly talk about the leopard-2 tank, but directly mentioned the artillery. After all, for the tank, there is no suitable artillery. Everything is useless. Without these two technologies, there is no hope of production.

105mm linear bore gun is the standard gun of the whole western group in the whole era. It is powerful enough to deal with the threat of bear country. It is a quite mature gun.

"We have negotiated with Niu Guo to introduce these rifles. At the same time, we have introduced various processing equipment for the production of these rifles, including electroslag remelting steel related equipment for gun barrel, precision deep hole drill, high-speed rotary forging equipment for the production of armor piercing ammunition, etc. as long as these equipment are available, we will study our own new generation of tank guns and have technical reserves."

What Qin Guan is talking about now is a project in the history of previous generations. The introduction of 105mm tank gun is not an isolated project, but a set of very complex systems. Based on this system, 86 type 100mm smooth bore anti tank gun, 89 type 120mm smooth bore anti tank gun and 125mm tank gun are all developed on this basis, and it goes without saying that tungsten alloy and uranium alloy armor piercing shells.
