Chapter 34: A predator colored red

Lupa now knew she needed to hit its vital spots or become like the rock. Smashed into bits and pieces. She couldn’t afford to strike the boar because it would retaliate back with deadly force.

Lupa had to think of something quick, but thinking wasn’t her forte. To gain more time to think, she ran and climbed a nearby tree. There was no need to hurry from the slow-moving crippled boar, so she stopped to think halfway.

The boar slowly approached closer and closer, limping towards the tree with Lupa stuck on it. The boar suddenly ignored its pain at the last few steps and sprung forward, fiercely crashing against the tree.

Lupa noticed the unexpected charge at the last moment; she lifted her body and raised her legs evading charge. Unfortunately, her claws felt like they were about to slide and fall while the tree violently shook.

Vincent noticed Lupa was in a dangerous predicament. His leg wasn’t hurting as the spasm stopped a while ago. However, the idea of Lupa falling made him worried. He had to do something, but what could he do to help?

Vincent gazed from left to right. He had to come up with a plan post-haste. Then he noticed a small puddle of blood the boar leaked. The boar seemed to have lost a lot of blood by the amount lying on the floor, enough to give more chances for survival.

An idea lit brightly in his mind as he stood up and held the short sword with a firm grip. Vincent gulped to muster his courage. Then, he shouted while running towards them, “Ambush!”

.....

Lupa’s ears raised full attention while these words made her grin in this dangerous predicament. The code word “Ambush” was taught to her by Vincent. It meant if she acted as bait, he would aid by attacking from behind.

Lupa understood while her face became filled with determination and relief, Vincent was watching her back. She lowered down and kicked the boar’s head.

The boar became pissed while it was helplessly getting kicked in the head. Its head violently tossed while trying to break free its tusk.

Lupa soon lost her footing losing balance and leaving her body dangling. She did her best to hold her claws inside the tree, but the tree shook too much to stay attached.

Lupa had to do something soon, or she was going to fall. She closed her eyes while raising her ear’s full attention, then focused on all her surroundings allowing her to visualize up to five meters around her.

Lupa heard footsteps approaching. Vicent was rushing to her aid, approaching the boar from behind with a plan he thought on the fly.

With a smirk, Lupa placed all her strength in her arms and lifted herself. Her claws could barely hold herself stuck on the tree any longer, so she had to decide, jump or fall.

When her hands reached the length of her chest, Lupa pushed herself backward with all she had while retracting her claws. As this happened, Lupa kicked the tree allowing her to vault over the boar with the extra push.

The boar still had one tusk stuck inside the tree while Lupa hovered above it while eyeing its neck. Lupa, who hovered in mid-air, swiftly extended her claws to prepare for the assault.

Suddenly, calmness and awareness returned while feeling time slowing down. Her golden eyes shone, but a hint of blood from overuse welled in her eyes.

Two arms raised with sharp claws gleaming under the moonlight. Their target was set as her body slowly fell on the boar, the claws fell faster with a vicious force to rip the boar apart.

*Squeal

Lupa landed claws first while her claws penetrated the boar’s neck. With the last second of the mysterious predator instinct, she shoved both her sharp claws in its neck multiple times.
The boar squealed in agony while it furiously tossed its head. In seconds, the tree broke from the boar’s violent tossing. Lupa was in danger as she held on the to boar like a bull riding game.

Vincent noticed the new predicament. Lupa’s sharp claws were about to be her undoing as they were sharp enough to tear the boar’s flesh like butter and fling Lupa away with great force.

Vincent had to help as fast as possible, but he was still a bit far. Vincent couldn’t heal Lupa if she gets gravely injured because of the Soul Nutrue condition. His gaze lowered on the pool of blood, and a risky plan rushed to his mind.

Vincent lept forward with all he had, and with momentum, he fell on the blood while sliding with great speed. His short sword pointed upwards at the sky while he held it with a tight grip.

“Time to die!” Vincent shouted while he slid under the boar at rapid speed. The sword raised higher when he went under the boar, and soon the tip met with its belly.

*Slash

From the rear to the front. The belly split in two. The blade suddenly got stuck in its ribcage, and the sword slipped from his grip. Soon, Vincent violently crashed against the barely supported tree.

*Squeal

The boar released its final agonizing squeal while glaring at Vincent with a stare enough to kill. It intended to stomp Vincent to death before it dies. The boar lifted its body on its rear legs.

Lupa noticed Vincent was in grave danger. She bit the neck of the boar while digging her claws deeper. However, this didn’t help.

Lupa became furious while she violently slashed the quick raising boar. Suddenly, her eyes shone again, but this time her sight became hazy, and everything colored red.

The strange overpowered ability activated once again, but this time she bled from her eyes, nose, and ears.

However, the instinct, the time slow, and swift reactions remained. Lupa noticed a way to save Vincent, and without any hesitation, she took this chance.

Her claws dug deeper while she kicked the back of the boar to push herself back. Then she swung her body to the side while swinging from back to front.

Along with her position change, the claws followed ripping from the back of the neck to the raising boar’s throat. The boar began losing its balance as it couldn’t stand on its two hind legs anymore while the furious Lupa swung on its neck like a spinner.

As she finished swinging on its neck one-eighty degrees, from back to front, Lupa kicked the barely standing tree as hard as she possibly could, dragging the boar to fall on its side.

Lupa let go of her hold and jumped, falling on all fours without a sound. The ability ended, and she felt pain all over her body. However, the falling boar still had life in it.

*Boom

The boar fell on its side while gasping for air. It tossed its head to pull itself up but turned on it’s back instead.

Lupa didn’t hesitate. She furiously shouted while she only saw red both literally and figuratively. Like a wild animal, she leaped at the boar. Then stood on its chest, while glaring at the dying boar with vicious, murderous intent.

As if Lupa lost someone dear to her. She furiously swung both her arms from left to right.

The claws cut every vital place while blood sprayed like rain. The boar couldn’t survive this assault and passed away after a few swings. However, Lupa kept slashing the body without stop.

Vincent opened eyes after the boar fell with a loud thud leaving a small tremor from its massive weight. This was enough to wake him up. However, Vincent saw a sight that sent a shiver down his spine.

The cute and competitive Lupa he knew became a terrifying red-painted wolf beastman of death. She was like an enraged vicious beast who only knew how to kill.

“Stop! It’s dead!” Vincent ungently shouted, but Lupa couldn’t hear him from her rage. Vincent had to stop her, but his body was at its limits.

Contorting his face from the pain of the violent crash against the tree, Vincent slowly approached her while shouting, “Everyone is safe! The boar is dead! We won! Look at me!”

Lupa suddenly stopped; his words finally reached her. She gazed down at Vincent, raised a faint smile before losing her balance, and started falling.

Vincent opened his arms and caught Lupa. He worried she might be hurt while painted in the boar’s blood. If she was injured, it was hard to tell. The darkness of the night didn’t do them any justice either.

“We did it, Lupa. You killed the boar and saved us.” Vincent said with a reassuring smile when he noticed her eyes opening. Lupa returned a faint smile while she could barely see Vincent’s face.

“You can tell me about your ability later. Rest here while I bring the cart with Ester.” Vincent gently placed Lupa on the ground, turned around, then went to bring Ester and the cart.

While Vincent left Lupa alone, she raised her trembling hands to take a good look. Lapa saw the white fur on her hand and arms colored red from the boar’s blood.

Then Lupa raised her gaze at the moon, thanking it for being a full moon and gracing them with enough light to see before falling asleep from exhaustion.

After some time, a warm yet cold touch woke her up. Lupa opened her eyes and saw Vincent, one hand gently holding her face while the other cleaning her face with a wet piece of cloth.

“How do you feel? You overworked your strange new ability. It took some time to stop the bleeding from your eyes, nose, and ears.” Vincent gently said, feeling a bit worried after he inspected her condition.

“Clean me since you didn’t wash my back.” Lupa slyly said, acting more injured than she felt. She still had the strength to tease Vincent.

Her acting worked. Vincent nodded and cleaned her arms and legs, but under her clothes were left for her. He was a gentleman, after all, and this made Lupa a bit grumpy.

“You didn’t completely clean me!” Lupa puffed her cute cheeks for not getting what she wanted. Then she stopped acting gravely injured and stood up.

“Humph... I will clean behind a tree since you don’t want to take a peek.” Lupa left quite annoyed while Vincent scratched his head. This was the first time a woman actively tried to undress and make out with him.

‘If us mutants didn’t have the deja vu dream sickness, then I might have tried finding someone...’

Vincent deeply pondered while feeling like he missed a huge chunk of what life could offer. Then he shrugged his shoulders as the past can’t get changed and started a small campfire.

[I’m done with the cleaning. Should I bring more sticks?]

Lupa returned in white wolf form. Her clothes were wet in her mouth, and she didn’t have any spare clothes.

“Yes, bring sticks you find to feed the fire. Too many trees fell, so it shouldn’t be a problem. I will... skin the boar and then cut its meat.” Vincent gulped while he spoke about skinning the boar. He never skinned an animal, and last time, Lupa cut the Great Gray Wolf.
