Sovereign of the Firmaments

Chapter 89: Earl Level Assassin Talent

'Where is he going to appear?'

The short assassin hurriedly turned back as he remembered Lucas's last words.

'Puchi'

'A good assassin needs to watch his back for possible sneak attacks.'

Just as the short assassin turned back, a short sword pierced through his heart along with the same words that Lucas said before disappearing earlier.

'Damn it.'

The short assassin had a look of disbelief on his face as he turned back to see Lucas was standing in the place where he disappeared earlier.

'Thud'

Unlike the short assassin, Lucas didn't hesitate to go for the critical hit because he didn't want the assassin to use any of his skills in his last moments.

'Ding,

The host killed a tier 1 General Knight.

'Ding,

The host gained 100 sovereign points and a talent crystal.

Just like always, Lucas received the system notifications informing him about the kill and the rewards he gained.

'A talent crystal?'

Lucas was surprised with the system as he wanted a talent crystal very badly for his brother; however, his brother was kidnapped.

'Looks like I can still make good use of the 'Invisibility spell'.'

Before checking the talent crystal, Lucas thought about the spell he used earlier to kill the tier 1 general assassin.

That's right!

Earlier, he used his new intermediate spell 'Invisibility'; however, the spell will be dispelled if he moves from his place.

Nevertheless, he made the short assassin believe that Lucas really had an advanced spell 'Teleportation' with his words and the confident look that he maintained on his face for the entire time.

'Beck is having fun. It's best for her to continue playing with him.'

Next, Lucas glanced at the fight between the assassin and Beck and decided not to interfere as Beck clearly had an upper hand in the fight with her five rank 5 spirit beasts.

'Time to check the Talent crystal.'

Lucas was curious about what type of talent crystal the system sent him. So, he checked it.

'Ding,

        Item name:- Talent crystal (Assassin)

        Talent level:- Earl

Use:- Crushing the crystal instantly gives the Earl-level assassin talent.

'This profession will never leave me alone in the depths of hell.'

Lucas didn't know whether he should laugh or cry after seeing the information of the Talent crystal.

The more he didn't want something, the closer he was getting to it.

Initially, he wanted a peaceful life; however, in this world, only the dead can have a peaceful world. So, he had to become more powerful.

Now, the talent crystal of the profession he didn't want to become appeared in his head.

'Assassin profession and I are destined for every life.'

With a bitter smile on his face, Lucas decided to become an assassin because even though it was looked down upon and hated by many, he knew how fearsome that profession can be.

'Anyway, I need all kinds of strengths to save Evan. So...'

With that thought in his mind, Lucas crushed the red-coloured crystal in his hands.

'Ding,

The host has been used as an 'Assassin talent crystal' and gained Earl level assassin talent.

'Ding,

The system detected that the host already has the skills of an assassin; however, he lacks the Blessing skills.

'Ding,

Please assassinate a rank 3 spirit beast to gain the first blessing of an assassin.

Just as he crushed the talent crystal, Lucas' head was filled with a series of system notifications.

'I will show this world how fearsome a true assassin can be.'

Seeing the system notifications, Lucas revealed a slight smile on his face.

Just like how 'Knights' have to kill the spirit beasts for every major rank, 'Assassins' have to assassinate the spirit beasts and they would be blessed with the skills of the spirit beasts.

Of course, they would be modified into the skills that were useful for the assassins.

For the current Lucas, assassinating a rank 3 spirit beast is a piece of cake.

"Beck, stop playing and finish him."

Next, Lucas looked at the fight in the distance and asked Beck to kill the assassin.

"Young master, don't you want to find out who put a bounty on your head?"

Beck asked Lucas with a confused look on her face.

The thing is, Beck would have killed the assassin a few minutes back to help Lucas; however, seeing that Lucas killed his opponent, she relaxed and toyed with her target.

Nevertheless, there was a reason for that. She wanted to break the assassin in front of her before asking about the one who commissioned their service.

"There is no need for that. I already know who it is."

Lucas shook his head as he turned his head towards the assassin and asked, "Grayeye family commissioned your guild, right?"

Since it was the assassin guild's not first attempt to assassinate him, Lucas knew who wanted his head.

"No. It is not the Grayeye family."

The assassin who was completely covered in blood shook his head as he weakly replied to Lucas.

"Huh?"

Lucas raised his brows for a moment before asking, "Who is it then?"

Other than the Grayeye family, there was no one in this town that he had a feud with. So, Lucas wanted to know who this new enemy was.

"If you promise me that you will not kill me, I will tell you everything I know about it."

The assassin who lost all his hope felt hopeful with Lucas' question as he tried to bargain his life for an answer.

"You are in no position to make a deal with me."

However, Lucas shook his head as he directly rejected the deal with the assassin.

"Okay then. You can kill me and you will never find out how valuable your head is...hehe."

Even though the assassin revealed an eerie smile, he was praying to the heavens that Lucas accept his deal.

"Fine then. Since you want to die, then I will let you experience it."

With a slight smile on his face, Lucas signalled Beck, who nodded her head at Lucas with an excited smile on her face.

"Everyone, do your combination moves."

Without wasting any time, Beck ordered her five rank 3 spirit beasts to attack.

'Bind'

The combination attack started with Forest fairy's skill which summoned some green forest vines covered in thorns that came out of the ground that wrapped the assassin.

'Aargh'

The thorns on the vines made the assassin groan in pain.

'Poison web'

The second attack belongs to the nether world's spider which split a purple-coloured spider web that paralysed the assassin from moving.

'Frostbite'

'Flame thrower'

'Moon slash'

After imprisoning the assassin, the remaining three rank 3 spirit beasts, the white lion, the forest imp and the silverback wolf used their attacks at the same time.

"Even if I die, I will not be answering any of your questions."

Just before the last three attacks, the assassin gritted his teeth and he shouted at Lucas and Beck.

If he was going to die, then he might as well make his killers live in fear without knowing who commissioned for their assassination.

'Aargh'

Soon, the assassin opened his eyes with a painful cry as he noticed he was still alive and all the spirit beasts were in the same place as before as though they never used their combination moves.

'What the...'

The assassin looked at Lucas and Beck with terror.
