Silver Wish

Chapter 96 - Time Paradox

The person sitting across from her is Kanehera Kouta. Back when she left her hometown to go on a journey, she received help from this person and his group members in particular. He is also the brother of her dear friend.

She has not seen him in a very long time. When she returned to her hometown, so many things were happening, and she had to focus on them. Thus the last time she spoke to this person was so long ago. But even then, Lila knew he had supported her.

She is surprised to see him because the last thing she heard from Shichiro was that the guys in RAY hadn't stopped even for a single day searching for the missing Dream star participants.

"Kouta-kun, uh-"

Lila noticed that the blonde-haired man was staring at Haruka with a complicated look on his face. Haruka had gone to the attached kitchen and finished the rest of the meals.

"Kiryu-san mentioned it, but I couldn't believe it." Kouta trailed off. "Sorry if this offends you, but I was one of the ones who thought he was dead."

She shook her head. "No, I understand, even though I thought so at first."

"For him to come back alive like this is already a miracle to you. So with your personality, I know you don't want him to have his memories."

"Yes," Lila said seriously. "Although it upsets me that he won't remember the fond memories we made. I think the way things are now is fine. Even if he doesn't remember, he understands that he loves me and that I am the most important. The love he has for me is still there, even with no memory. I no longer want him to remember the pain he experienced."

Kouta sighed deeply. "I suppose that part of you hasn't changed. But I came here because I wanted to see if I could jog his memory a little."

Lila frowned at those words. "Kouta-kun, with all due respect, I know you dislike him, but to fȯrċɨbŀƴ make him remember is a bit cruel."

"It's for Yumeko's sake."

Her anger vanished when she heard those words and sensed the pain behind his words. Of course, he is worried about his sister. The guys in RAY have desperately been searching because their most important person is there. For Kouta-kun it is Yumeko and Maika-chan, for Mikekami-kun it is Kasumi and Takehiro, there is Ruka-chan.

Naturally, she was just as worried. She went through all the trouble asking Yan for help that time, but Yan hasn't returned with anything. Is it that difficult after all?

"What do you mean by that?"

"A while ago, I showed Kiryu-san some images I found in my sister's diary. It looked like she was investigating something in secret. At first, I was amazed at how much progress she made despite not understanding everything. But it turns out that she wasn't investigating alone."

Lila immediately understood what he was getting at. "Are you saying that Haruka helped her?"

"Right, the reason why she made so much progress and without getting caught was Haruka-san." Kouta paused. "He is the only one who can figure things out."

Kouta pulled out a familiar pink-colored notebook and flicked to a certain page that read 'Time paradox.' and a list of different paradoxes ȧssociated with time. The one highlighted was the grandfather paradox, a paradox that occurs when time is changed. When somebody returns to the past and changes an event, it would result in great changes in the future.

"This-"

He pointed to the photo in the center; she saw a large clock tower in the center of a forest.

"Oh." Recognition filled her eyes. "I know this place."

"Of course you do; whenever anybody performs with you, people would see this sight like an illusion. At first, that is what I thought, but after my talk with Kiryu-san, I looked into it more. Whenever anybody performs with you, they get transported to this area. The audience is unaware of this, but they get roped into the transport too."

"Is this another the power of music will save the world thing?"

Kouta laughed. "Why does that surprise you? From the very start, you were the one who wanted your voice to reach beyond the galaxy. Now you have a great opportunity to do so."

Lila's gaze fell on the notebook. She sensed Yumeko's determination seeing how she highlighted the word several times.

"I am just making a guess here. But from this, I think Yumeko is trying to say that an event in the past was changed resulting in this current situation."

Kouta paused for a moment. "Then that means somebody can travel back in time, right? Between those three leaders, who do you think it is?"

"Zane's abilities should be similar to mine, although Haruka mentioned that he has other abilities too. I don't think it is him, though, and Rosalia-chan inherited her ability from her father. That would leave Sophia," Lila trailed off. "But if she could go back to the past, then couldn't she have changed her outcome with Haruka? She could have prevented us from meeting."

"But changing the past that drastically will lead to drastic consequences such as somebody not being born in the future. If it is that woman, then perhaps she tried such a thing, but the consequences in the future were too drastic, so she went back and reversed things."

The consequences in the future would lead to her returning things to normal. "Haruka's death?"

"Right, no matter how cruel that woman is. I have noticed that not once has she tried to kill Haruka-san. Despite the pain she put him through; she has never hurt him directly. She has always asked others to hurt him but has she ever done so herself?"

So, in other words, that means Sophia genuinely likes Haruka. But Lila couldn't accept that. "If she truly cared, the last thing she would do is hurt the person she loves."

Kiryu is the best example for that. Even though he behaved coldly and said those threatening things, he never hurt her. There were plenty of times where she was defenseless and alone with him. He could have hurt her, but he never did that.

Kouta nodded. "I also think the same. If Haruka-san died in the future when she changed the past, I can see why she would go back."

"If that theory is correct, why would Yumeko highlight it? Things have already returned to normal." Lila looked at the notebook again. "Unless Sophia went back and changed something else."

But what could she have changed? This is a difficult one. But now that she is discussing with Kouta-kun like this, she is starting to form a better picture. From the very start amongst those three, Sophia is the most suspicious. Even though Zane is silent now

Her thoughts broke off when she felt somebody cup her cheeks.

It belonged to her husband, of course. "What is wrong my wife? Why do you look so pale?"

Lila stared at him dumbfounded. What is with his timing? She bȧrėly had a chance to feel troubled. Her gaze softened when she saw how concerned he was.

"I am alright. I was just thinking."

'As long as I have Haruka by my side. I should be able to act more freely.' Haruka is no longer their clutches, so- she paused in mid-thought when Haruka suddenly wrapped a blanket around her and scarf on her neck.

"You have a fever. I noticed earlier. After you eat, you should take some medicine."

Lila could only stare at him dumbfounded. This level of fussing over her is a bit different, isn't it? In the past, he mainly got angry whenever she was sick because she was usually the one who triggered it.. But not only is he not blaming her, but he is also giving her exclusive treatment.
