Silver Wish

Chapter 9 - Apology

In the center were the two wedding certificates. A wardrobe on the side filled with the clothes Lila left behind. A bunch of her belongings. When it they decided that he had no choice but to live with Rikka, Haruka rented a new place out. He didn't want to spoil the memories he had with Lila, but he could not leave her stuff there, so he brought it over.

"Who...who is that woman?" Rikka mumbled.

"My wife," Haruka answered. His wife, who he misses every single day.

Haruka could tell that Rikka was visibly shaken. "She is younger than us, but we went to school together because I got held back. We already have a child."

"Then what are we..."

"You're my ex-girlfriend." Haruka saw a pained look flash through her eyes. "You dumped me after cheating on me."

At that comment, the woman's face darkened. Haruka understood that all of this information was too much for her to take in. But she has to learn the truth. He wants to meet with Lila next month and have no problems.

Rikka glared harshly at him. "I am leaving."

Haruka frowned and grabbed her wrist. "Where do you think your going? Do you not understand the situation outside? There are only some safe areas."

"Isn't there the quarantine zone? I will go there."

At that comment, Haruka shook his head. "How could I let you go there?"

The special quarantine zone, there are several of these in New York and all across the world. As the name suggests, the people in that zone live under quarantine; they cannot go out.

"Once you live there, you can't leave until this is all over."

Moreover, there was a security camera in several places, even in the homes. They say that it is to prepare for an emergency. But when Haruka heard that he already knew there was something wrong.

"But Im not your wife. It is strange for us to live together."

"Were friends Rikka. I see you as my sister." Haruka wasn't lying about this. After much thought, he finally understood why he still cared about her. She reminded him of his dead sister.

Rikka averted her gaze. "Your so heartless."

"Huh?"

"Just because you don't like me doesn't mean I think the same. When the doctors introduced my husband to me, I understood right away. I have feelings for this person. So even though I did not remember anything, I knew I loved you."

"Sorry." Haruka apologized. "But I am already married. I really love her too."

Rikka cried herself to sleep, and Haruka scooped her up in his arms. He brought her to the room and laid her down. This was a bad idea from the start. If Sano-san and that other doctor did not suggest this, he wouldn't have done it. It would be easier if he just told her the truth from the very beginning.

His thoughts broke off when he hears the familiar ring tone on his phone.

Haruka blinked when he saw the name on the screen.

"Lila?"

"Wahh!"

Haruka chuckled. "Apologizing?"

He could imagine her slowly nodding her head now. "Im sorry for lashing out at you. However, I stand by what I said. If you want to prove to me that nothing is going on, then please don't live together."

Don't live together? Haruka glanced over at Rikka, who was fast asleep. She still seems emotionally unstable, though. Is it such a good idea to stop now? However, if that is what Lila wants, then he can't disagree. "Okay, my wife."

At that comment, he hears a surprised gasp and Kiryu scolding her. "See? What did I tell you, just ask him."

He hears muffled voices and frowned. He does not like this situation at all. Indeed there is nobody other than Kiryu who can look after Lila right now. But it still bothered him. He spent so long, acting jealous. What are they doing? Unease and fear crept into his head.

To his surprise, he suddenly receives the request for a video chat. Haruka accepted immediately. On the other end of the phone, screen was his wife, all wrapped up in a cute bundle. "Are you sick?"

"I just got a slight fever--" Lila trailed off and coughed. "A bit of a sore throat too."

"Take some medicine.." Haruka paused. "Wait, do you have any? Should I send some over?"

It is not difficult to get supplies here since the manufacturing companies are still in business. But in Star town? Everybody is scared and abandoned everything. Some people ran away and escaped abroad while they could. Some stuck to the quarantine zone; some ended up dying on the streets. Most people got infected and ended up killed by Hyou4 members. It is a war zone there.

This was one of the main reasons why Haruka did not want Lila to go back there. How is it possible for her to live in such harsh conditions? Even if she has survival skills, it will be difficult to live with that weak body of hers.

Look at her right now. This fever will be more deadly than usual. He understood the living conditions too.

People had to live in old, abandoned buildings. Anyone caught living in a nice house would get attacked, which was why people chose old buildings.

"Wife..."

Lila laughed softly. "It's okay. You will come to me soon, for me that is better than any medicine."

So with that, he can confirm that there are problems with receiving supplies. He should find a way to send things.

Kiryu brushed his hands across Lila's forehead. "If its the hanyou fever, you only need some blood." He glanced over at him. "Can she drink mine?"

Haruka's gaze dimmed, and Lila shook her head. "No, thank you for the offer though."

She is always quick to refuse even though it is for her own good. Haruka knew she was doing it for him, but he glanced at her flushed face. He can't leave her like this.

"Alright. But don't give her too much."

Kiryu nodded. "Alright."

Lila looked at him. "Is Rikka-san there?"

He tilted the camera. "I told her you were my wife, and she cried herself to sleep."

He thought that would make her happy, but instead, Lila simply nodded.. "Then my husband, I have a favor to ask you."
