Silver Wish

Chapter 87 - The Pieces

A few days after, Haruka unexpectedly waited for the older woman who he detested as much. He wanted to ask her about that woman, but he could not bring himself to do so for some reason. Haruka shook the thought out of his mind and turned to his wife, who was below him.

"Sorry, does it hurt?"

Lila shook her head. "Um, this isn't my first time. I think we used to do this a lot."

"Let's take this slow," Haruka mumbled as he pulled away from her. It would be bad to get caught up in the flow. Besides, neither of them have any proper memories of each other yet.

Lila nodded slowly.

"Say that woman who left the other day."

"Ah, Shinozaki-san?"

"She...came with me, right?" Haruka hesitated to ask that question. He didn't understand the reason why.

Lila nodded. "Ah-huh. "

Is that why she was trying to talk to him?

If he is going to recall anything, he wants it to be about her. Haruka tugged on her hand. "Are you going out today too?"

Sometimes Lila would leave for several hours. But she would always return before dinner, so he never bothered asking her where she went.

"No, I will stay here."

"You'll stay with me?"

Lila laughed softly. "Yes."

Haruka pulled her into his arms, and she continued to laugh. "This feels silly. We both still have blurted memories, but somehow this feels right."

"Are you happy?"

"I am, very."

So she is happy. Haruka cupped her cheeks to get a better look at her face. She looks so cute. 'I want to eat her up.' Ever since he started to regain his senses, Haruka has had such odd thoughts about her. Is it because she is his wife?

"Uh." Lila laughed. "What are you doing?"

"I wanted to have a look."

Lila laughed even more, and he felt his heartbeat increase. This girl is so beautiful.

His thoughts broke off when the doors opened. "Lila-chan was back."

"Ah Kotori-chan and Kiryu."

A man with silver-colored hair stepped out carrying some large shopping bags. "I see I'm just second now."

"Aha. I'm kidding. Thank you for shopping for me."

"It isn't an issue. It's difficult for you to move around." Kiryu glanced over at him. "Haruka too."

"...."

Lila tugged on his hand and squeezed it. "I'm going to make dinner. Would you like to help me?"

"Thank you, Haruka!"

Her bright smile made him avert his gaze. What is with her? Why is she always so happy?

The moment they arrived in the kitchen. He put the bags onto the counter and backed the girl against the wall.

Haruka pressed his lips against hers, and a hum of approval passed Lila's lips. "Mmmm, I know you're not used to the others yet, but they all mean well."

"That guy…"

"Ah, Kiryu?"

'Does he like you?' Haruka held back those words and nibbled on her lips. "What are we making?"

"I was thinking of making omelets and writing. I love you on top."

Haruka blinked, surprised at her words, and Lila laughed softly. "Is that a bad idea?"

"No, uh, whatever works for you."

"Will it make you happy?"

"Yes."

Lila nodded. "Then I will make it, sit over there and wait."

Haruka walked over to the chair and watched her cook. He picked up her phone, which was on the table. It looked like she had been in the middle of watching something.

His eyes widened when he saw the video. 'Is this me and her?'

Lila must have noticed him watching since she nodded. "Those are videos saved on my phone of our time together. I watch them hoping I will remember something. Haruka, if you're calmer now and feel better, you can watch them too."

'So she waited until his nightmares subsided.' Although he has no memory, he would often have nightmares of something chasing him.

"Then I'll watch for a bit." Haruka borrowed the girl's videos and started to start with the video she was just watching. He goes back to the start.

It was a video of them in the amusement park. But the first half of the video was him filming Lila. 'I can tell how much I loved her just from watching this film.' Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to shoot this kind of video.

He turned back to the video. Eventually, the camera shifted.

"You can't just film me all the time!"

"I don't mind just filming you."

"But that's no good when we look back on this moment!"

"A moment, huh? You like those."

Lila puffed her cheeks to a pout. "You need to have more of those!"

"If you want a moment so badly, then."

Haruka watched as his old self leaned forward and kissed the girl.

"N--not like that!"

"Then, maybe we should find a room somewhere."

At this point in the footage, Haruka knew what would happen. So that's how he used to behave around her. He supposes it made more sense now. It would explain his behavior on the first day. No wonder he wanted to pounce on her the moment they met again. He supposes it made more sense.

Haruka finished watching the video and scrolled through the photos. 'It does seem like we were very happy.' But then, why were they apart from each other?

He has far too many questions, and unfortunately, nobody can answer them. Haruka paused in mid-thought. No, that is wrong. The other people living here most likely know the situation. But the one who is the most informed is probably that Kiryu guy.

Haruka, however, felt very awkward asking him for help. He didn't understand why, but he couldn't do it. Moreover, it seems that guy likes his wife.

His thoughts broke off when Lila placed the last few dishes on the table. "Haruka, let's eat?"

"Yeah." He put the phone away and turned to the plate she placed in front of him. It was the omelet with the words 'I love you.' written in red ketchup.

'She really wrote it. I thought she was joking.'

"You're not going to call the others?" Haruka said curiously.

"Mm, I told them we would eat first."

Haruka immediately understood why she did this. She is very considerate of him. Then again, there were times where she would wander off and speak to that silver-haired guy for a long time. During those occasions, he would feel very jealous.

He doesn't understand these conflicting emotions. 'If only I had my memories back.' Haruka has refrained from bringing up this topic with her. He felt that if he did mention it, something would change. That change wouldn't be good either.

From the first day he came here, Haruka already understood that this girl was special to him. So when they told him that she was his wife, he wanted to learn everything about her. He wanted to spend some more time with her.

It seemed she also had the same mindset as him, but one thing bothered him. Lila would occasionally leave his side and spend hours speaking or going off with Austin Kiryu.

He is the only one who completely lost their memories, while she still has some of hers. It is only natural for her to spend more time with the person she remembers, but it frustrated him.

His thoughts broke off when Lila suddenly exclaimed. "Alright, I have an idea. Let's go on a date."

Haruka blinked, startled at her words. "I thought it wasn't safe to go outside."

Lila winked.. "But there are some safe parts."
