Silver Wish

Chapter 51 - The Truth

The more Kiryu spoke, the grimmer Lila-chans expression became. Afterward, she looked at the items on the table and then at the ring. She picked up the items, stood up, and left the room.

"Should I…" Kotori trailed off.

Kiryu nodded. "Go after her."

She was reluctant to leave him be but glanced over at Nobuhiko-san, who nodded. It should be fine. Despite how Nobuhiko-san behaves daily, she knew that he respected Kiryu-kun.

..

When Kotori found her, Lila was hunched on the ground crying. She bent down and patted the girl's back. "Do you remember?"

"I don't but it hurts. Seeing this and hearing those stories, it hurts."

It must be painful, not knowing the reason for her pain. The two of them remained that way for a while when Lila picked up the photograph. "We look happy…"

"You two were a nice couple." Despite all those arguments, Kotori saw how much they love and care for each other with her own eyes.

"But I don't remember. If I liked him so much, why can't I remember?" She trailed off. "Maybe I didn't like him that much."

No, no, that's not possible. Lila-chan loves Haruka-san so much that she pushed Kiryu-kun away when he tried to make a move on her again.

"That's not true at all. You cried when you saw these things, and your reaction says it all. Deep down in your heart, you still remember."

A love as deep as the one those two have will not disappear just like that.

For the next few days, Lila spent it huddled up in bed watching the videos on her phone. Kiryu told her that he finally fixed her phone, but Lila understood. So he took it away for this reason. Indeed the evidence is all over her phone. Her thoughts broke off when Kiryu entered the room.

"Eat something." Kiryu was carrying a tray, but Lila was not very hungry. She wanted to regain her memories as much as possible, so she repeatedly watched all the videos on her phone.

There are so many memories on this phone. She even tried to hunt for some information on the net and found a lot of stuff. But for some reason, Kiryu would not let her check the recent news. He only let her look at old stuff.

"Im not hungry."

"Lila," Kiryu said sharply. "It's great that you want to remember, but Haruka won't like it if you don't eat."

He won't like it? For some reason, she doesnt want that.

"I will eat."

At that comment, Kiryu sighed. "I see that still works on you. I guess you do still remember." Kiryu took a seat beside her. "You're watching this now?"

The title on the video that just popped up was Haruka's birthday.

"Mm, it seems you took the video in London."

"This is the first time I'm seeing this too. Can I watch with you?"

How can he act so calm? Kiryu still likes her, right? It surprised her. She noticed something was off about their current relationship, but she did not say a word at all.

"You feel awkward, right?"

"I do," Lila admitted.

Kiryu lets out a half-baked laugh and he extended his hand out to pat her hair. "You don't have to feel so weird about this. I mean, I was the one who let you go and encouraged you to continue dating Haruka."

Is that how it was? But isn't he in a lot of pain? Before she could say anything she

"St--stupid! I am filming right now."

"Then that's great, and we can watch this over later and get more passionate."

"No!" Lila exclaimed loudly as she pushed him away. "Stand far away from me."

Lila suddenly felt embarrassed when she saw that; it was just brief, but the man had her pushed against the wall and kissed her neck. H--how could they do that in a public place? Despite her refusal, she noticed how she gradually got closer to the other person again.

She saw the rumors on the net, saying it is strange for Haruka to date her seriously. It seemed like they were discussed a lot by other people. But despite finding this information out, Lila was curious to find out more.

The more she watched, the more she understood. This man called Haruka only shows his good side in front of her; he only shows his kindness then.

"I want to ask, though, where is he?"

As her husband, should he not be by her side right now? It does not make any sense for them to be separated. Lila still had her memories of the current state of the world. The only thing she seems to have forgotten is her husband, but she still remembers everything else.

"The thing is, Lila…" Kiryu spoke slowly. "The two of you went to New York for a vacation, but you heard what was happening here and decided to return. You left him behind…"

"Then?"

"He got into an accident." Kiryu chose his words carefully. "Right now..we can't find him."

Her eyes widened when she heard those words. So that is the reason why. Whenever she asked Kotori about it, her friend looked like she would burst into tears.

"Is he dead?"

"No, he is alive. We just have to find him." Kiryu exclaimed.

His reaction is too obvious. It seems this accident wasn't a simple one. "Im sorry, Kiryu, but could you leave me alone for a while?"

He seemed reluctant to leave but nodded. He covered the food with a lid and exited the room. Lila slumped to the bed and tried to close her eyes, but she felt very restless. Not remembering was already a problem but learning this was the final blow. If that person is already dead, but his own wife can't remember him can he rest in peace?

Dead...Lila felt her heart clench in pain, and she felt the tears fall from her eyes. She doesn't remember him at all. No matter how many videos or pictures she sees, she does not remember.

Something is blocking her from remembering, and yet she does not break that something. A part of her even thought it would be better not to remember anything.

But if that person is gone, then what about her? What does she do with these feelings of hers?
