Silver Wish

Despite what others would think did occur to Kiryu, he should contact Lila's parents and tell her what was happening. But that would mean exposing himself. How is he supposed to explain his peculiar behavior the last few months? Besides, he is sure people are watching over Sumire-san too.

But at the same time, that woman is good at disappearing without leaving a trace. She left for so many years, and nobody could find her. If she wanted to hide, it would be easy. Yet people know where she is, meaning she is deliberately drawing attention to herself.

K region...He received the report early this morning.

It seems Sumire-san intends to get help. But why would she make it so obvious? Unless she is trying to draw the attention away from Lila.

It would make a lot of sense. Many people are arguing that this situation only came out because of Lila. Many people call her a jinx and even a witch just because everybody knew that Haruka was Zane's, right-hand man.

A married couple should know everything about each other, huh? So, of course, it is natural to ȧssume that Lila knew something. However, Lila is innocent.

Haruka tried so hard to keep things hidden from her. He ensured that Lila did not see the darkness of the world.

At night Lila seems to remember Haruka, but during morning she has no memory of him. So tonight was one of those nights. His gaze fell on the girl who was staring absent-mindedly at the window.

"Hey Kiryu, do you think I can see Haruka up there?" Lila pointed to the sky.

Kiryu clenched his fist.

Haruka isn't dead, and he cant be. But Kiryu could find no evidence that the man was alive either. Why cant he find anything? He can't even find the body… Since nobody could find a body, Kiryu ȧssumed that Haruka was alive. Alive but falling from that clift, he must be badly injured.

He had hope, and yet hearing Lila's hopeless tone every night made him think, what if? What if Haruka is dead? What will Lila do? That person will never leave Lila, and yet why does he get this bad feeling?

Even if Haruka was badly wounded, he would find a way to make his presence known. He would not want to see Lila in pain. That guy loves her just as much as he does. Kiryu knew they shared the same sentiments, and yet where is he?

Kiryu wrapped his arms around her. "Shouldn't you sleep?"

He didn't answer her question. He does not want to admit that Haruka is dead. If both of them give up, then...his thoughts broke off when Lila mumbled.

"I miss him. Are you going to take advantage of me now that he is gone?"

"Do you think I would?"

"I do; you are awful like that."

Kiryu laughed. This was the first time she was calling him out for being awful. Even though he was the first one to let her go, Lila never blamed him. "Indeed, maybe I am. But I won't do anything."

How could he? Even if Haruka was dead. He would never entertain the idea of trying to get back with her. It is already too late for the two of them. He already told her several months ago to stay away from him. Soon he will lose sight of himself completely and become a monster. By the time that happens, it would be nice to find Haruka.

Following morning

"You are overdoing it, Kiryu-kun." A familiar voice said from behind him.

Kiryu deeply sighed. "It's not my fault that this stuff breaks easily." He was talking about the punching bag and other workout equipment Nobu got for him.

Kotori shook her head. "No, you are overdoing it."

"Where is Lila?"

"Cooking. She said she feels restless when it rains."

Right, of course, she does. Kiryu knew about Haruka's past, so Lila must know it too. He already long surrendered any ideas of getting back with her. Even if it is painful, he needs to move ahead; besides, it is not like he has much time left.

His gaze fell on Kotori, who was wiping his hair with a towel. "Are you okay too?"

"My wounds don't hurt anymore."

"No, I mean--"

He means her mental state. She was there at the wrong time and watched him transform. He even threatened to kill her, and with his own hands, he injured her.

Weak laughter escaped her lips. "You're asking me now? Despite all that, you took me away from the hospital and healed my wounds…"

"Im really sorry." He didn't know who else to ask for help. The two of them had gradually become friends, but they aren't as close yet. Yet, he couldn't think of anybody else who would look after Lila's child. Even though he took the child away, Kiryu knew that he couldn't look after it properly.

"It's okay, in the first place, other than singing, I have no other attachments to anything. I am a normal person. It was Lila-chans voice that saved me and why I decided to pursue my career. So if I can help her, I will."

"...correct me if I am wrong, but don't you…"

"Like you?"

Kiryu felt very awkward about this topic. It's not like he didn't notice the signs, but he ignored it. Or rather, the only person he had on his mind was Lila.

Kotori sighed. "You have no tac Kiryu-kun."

"Sorry, but am I right?"

Kotori nodded and took a seat on the ground beside him. "I do, but you know I never expected anything either. Lila-chan is my friend, and she may be in love with Haruka, but she has not completely let you go yet. Because I saw how much she struggled and battled with her feelings like that, I understood. She will always have a place in her heart for you."

"I'm really sorry." He mumbled. "I know you don't want to hear this...but I don't know what to do."

Up till now, he only had the crazy girls after him, so dealing with somebody like Kotori? He does not know what to do with her. What can he do for her?

"All you do is apologize. Kiryu-kun I am okay. You don't have to do anything for me either. I'm just content that I can spend time with you the way I do now."

"Damn saying that backfires."

Kotori laughed. "I see." She quickly got up. "Im going to go back inside and help Lila-chan, don't stay out here too late."

The moment she left, Kiryu slumped down on the ground and sighed. It seems Sumire-san was right. At the end of the day, somebody will end up hurt.. She also mentioned that is why they have to decide what to sacrifice. What to sacrifice, huh?
