Silver Wish

Chapter 47 - I should go to hell for this

According to their genius Nobuhiko, Lila's memory lost is only temporary. She did not hit her head but it was not deliberate either. It seemed like there was something in the coast area that led to affecting Lilas memory. Nobuhiko did not go into too much detail but Kiryu understood. Those people must have left something there. If they are going through that much trouble then it must mean Haruka is alive.

However, the problem is his gaze fell on Lila, who was cheerfully making him breakfast. He is enjoying this situation far too much. Lila is making meals for him, hugging and kissing him good morning. Kotori looked like she wanted to say something several times, but she kept her mouth shut. He knew this was weird, and yet he could not stop it.

He ran his hands through his silver hair and sighed deeply. "You are going to make a mess. Do you need help?" Kiryu asked when he saw sparkles of oil land on her hand.

"I can do this!"

Lila was good at cooking now. However, whenever she tried to learn a new recipe, it usually ends up as a disaster. "Turn around for a second, Lila."

Kiryu leaned his hand on the counter and trapped the girl there. He brushed his lips against her forehead. His lips lingered there for a few seconds. "You know," Kiryu mumbled. "You should stop me."

For the last few days, however, Lila has not stopped him, but she has asked him why several times. "Why, Kiryu?"

Whenever she does, he shuts her up with a kiss. He ends up kissing her even though he should not do so. What happened to all his morals and values? He was never a decent person, to begin with. Kiryu understood that about himself, but in front of Terashima Lila, he wanted to be a good guy. He wanted her to think she was the best thing that ever happened in his life.

He pressed his forehead against hers after he finished the kiss. "I should go to hell for this," Kiryu mumbled.

"If your going there, take me with you."

Kiryu laughed a little and kissed her again. He briefly closed his eyes and lightly kissed and nibbled on her lips. "You taste sweet."

Lila points to the jar on the side. "Chocolate."

"You told me before not to snack in the morning."

"I needed energy." When she said this, Kiryu got a good look at her, he could see no signs on her face, but he frowned when he looked at her hands.

"Training?"

Of course, she was training. Her bad health will not stop her from trying to train. Why would it? "Next time, tell me. I will join you."

Lila laughed. "That is a new one. I thought you would stop me."

Normally he would, he should, since she is unhealthy. But Kiryu is worried that they will get attacked. It was difficult for them to leave Japan with no trace and come here to New York. Kiryu knew that Rosalia would have noticed it by now.

"Today, let us have a look around the town."

Kiryu wanted to know the current state of New York. He wanted to see if he could find any clues that may lead him not just to Haruka but to the route cause of all of this.

....

The town was not in terrible shape. There were many more buildings still functioning. However, one thing was the same—the stench of death, bodies rotting away in the sidewalk. Kiryu knew why people did not move their bodies. They do not want to touch and end up infected.

He squeezed Lila's hands. "You okay?"

"So many people died here." Lila let go of his hands and stood a few feet away from the bodies.

Some people nearby were watching her, terrified at this action. Nobody gets close to the bodies unless they already had powers. Kiryu wanted to avoid attention, but it seems like that is difficult to do with her around.

Lila clasped her hands together and prayed. She closed her eyes. His gaze softened when he saw this.

Only Lila would mourn for the infected during this time.

The people who were watching her cautiously also seemed surprised. Some of them followed her and prayed also. They did not go near like her, but they silently prayed from the safety of their homes.

After a few minutes, Lila turned to him. "It looks terrible here."

"I do not think it looks that bad." He saw worse areas in star town, people starved and eating their limbs to survive.

Lila shook her head. "Do not be deceived by appearances. The buildings may look okay, but look at their faces."

The faces of the townsfolk? Kiryu looked at his surroundings at the people walking by. At a glance, he could not understand what she was talking about, but when somebody tripped over. He saw it - a look of fear.

They look terrified...but of what? Is it the virus? That does not seem right to him.

He turned to Lila, who was looking at the sky. "Ah, I found it."

"Fou-" Kiryu paused in mid-sentence when he saw what she was looking at. It was not in the sky but the center of a large building in the center. Kiryu blinked, surprised. When did that get there?

This building did not look like the other ones. This one looked brand new. But something was menacing-looking about it—rows of men wearing black on all sides of the building.

"It seems like the person we are looking for is most likely there."

At that comment, Kiryu sighed deeply. It should not surprise by now that Lila knew exactly what he was planning. However, how could he tell when she acted so innocently the last few days? Then again, she is no longer the same as she was before.

The past year and a half, where she started her journey, she saw many things.

Kiryu pulled her into his arms. "Stay close to me at all times."

Lila gently ċȧrėssed his cheeks. "I am not as weak as I was before.. Nevertheless, mm, I would like to stay close to you."
