Silver Wish

Earlier - In New York-

Haruka lay on his bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.

The next few hours after he fought with Lila, Haruka did not know what to do with himself. It felt different; no he knew it was different. This time around, she was genuinely mad at him. Unlike before, when he could see her every day, they are too far apart from each other now. He cannot appease her.

His gaze fell on the phone. Maybe he ought to stop leaving her creepy messages. The first time he did this was before they went out with each other. To his surprise, the first thing she said after ignoring him for days and having to listen to his creepy messages was. "I didn't know you liked me that much."

Then they were kissing like no tomorrow.

The second thing she said was. "You should have just called me."

It was such a sweet memory in his head, but now? Now that sweet memory is tainted with unpleasant things.

The car journey was silent at first. Haruka debated about which roads to use, which ones were safe. But it seemed like Rikka already had a destination in mind.

Haruka angrily pushed her away from him and snapped. "Damn it. I told you--what did I tell you before?"

"I don't understand why it has to be her," Rikka said bitterly. "She hasn't known you for as long as I have! She wasn't there for you when you needed her the most."

It took Haruka a few minutes to process what she just said. What? What did she just-- "Are you telling me you have your memories?"

Rikka nodded and sighed. "It took you how long to figure that out?"

Her tone reminded him of the tone she used when they broke up. He felt a sudden wave of growing anger. To think she was pretending this entire time. So all of that was fake?

Haruka ran his hands through his hair. His body felt very strange, he had no idea what those mini-tablets were, but she fed him a handful.

"Lila isn't good for you, Haruka. You also need to stop contacting and helping the resistance. The world is as good as over. You should just accept the welcoming of a New World."

At that comment, his vision gradually blurred. "Shit, what did you give me?"

Rikka extended her hands out. "It won't hurt for long. The first time I had some, it was painful, but not for long." She eagerly brought her lips to his. "Haruka-kun."

Haruka froze when he heard those words. Wait a moment-- horror-struck on his face as he realized something. "You're not Rikka."

"Mei," Haruka dragged her name out because he wanted it to be a lie. But the girl's eyes lit up. "What on earth did you do with Rikka?"

Mei giggled. "You don't have to worry about that one. Sophia-sama won't kill her own cousin."

Sophia.

Sophia - the name Mei just said made him angrier. What on earth did that woman do now? His thoughts broke off when Mei pointed to the end of the road. "Look, she is over there! She will bring you to paradise."

When the two switch over, Haruka does not know whether he is relieved or not. It surprised him, even more, when Sophia did not offer to drive.

"Now you show up."

This entire time he was waiting for her to show. Since Zane took control of most places around the world. Rosalia has been going wild so he ȧssumed that she would do the same. But instead, he heard no news from Sophia. Now he understood why.

"Where is Rikka?"

Sophia rolled her eyes. "Think first, when do you think I switched her out?"

"The accident. You--" Haruka paused. "You were there in the hospital."

"Bingo." Sophia lips curve to a smile. "Relax, Zane treats his toys well."

Anger flashed through his eyes and he balled his fists. "How could you do that to her? She is your cousin." He felt very disgusted.

"Why did you do this?" Haruka has to ask because he does not understand it at all. What does she get from doing something like this?

"I told you what I want from you has not changed."

Haruka quickly understood what she meant. "You want me to sleep with other women?"

"Yes, prove to me that Terashima Lila is not important to you."

At that comment, Haruka sighed deeply. "You already know that I cant do that."

Sophia clenched her fist tightly. "Are you saying she is important to you?"

"You know that."

"Haruka." Sophia's gaze dimmed. "That isn't a good joke."

"I'm not joking." Haruka trailed off. "I know this is difficult for you to understand. Back then I told you many things one of them being I won't get attached to anybody. But that was a lie, I was already attached then."

"To who?"

"The idea of falling in love, belonging somewhere. It is easy to have somebody want you but to truly belong and find happiness is not easy."

"People like us do not deserve to find happiness. I thought you understood that already. Please stop clinging to something foolish. Having somebody dėsɨrė you should be more than enough."

"That's true."

A person like him does not deserve happiness, he does not deserve to walk on sunshine.

Sophia extended her hand out and ċȧrėssed his cheeks. She brought her lips to his ear. "I have something for you."

"If your talking about drugs I am afraid I don't do those anymore."

Rather whatever Mei just gave him made him feel so bad already.

Sophia released the wheel. "Disaster."

"Chaos." He mumbled.

"You have never been free Haruka."

"I don't do that stuff anymore, I'm clean." It felt strange saying such words? Him? Clean? They both know he isn't.

Sophia rolled her eyes and giggled. "You've never been clean."

"Sophia please don't."

"Scum will always be scum Haruka, that will never change. Instead of trying to run away you should accept it. Back then you said you were clean too but you still slept with other girls when you dated my cousin. The world thinks you're a drug addict, addicted to girls but I know what you want the most."

What he wants the most? What he wants the most is his wife.

He wants Lila.

"I thought you disliked Zanes' methods, why did you change your mind?" Haruka rummaged through his pockets for a packet of cigarettes. He found some and took one out only to realize that he left his lighter behind.

Sophia extended her hands out and lit it for him. "Indeed even now I dislike his methods."

"Then?"

"I thought it would be exciting to see what you would do. To think you would resist him, now that was out of my realm of expectations." Sophia trailed off. "Stop here."

Haruka looked up and realized they were at the coast by the ocean. A dreadful feeling as images from the past appeared in his head. But he quickly shook his head. Haruka proceeded to exit the car but Sophia stopped him. She positioned herself on his ŀȧp and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"His methods are terrible, I would be crueler. But as long as he achieves the same outcome then I have no problems."

"The same outcome?" Haruka repeated.

"The destruction of the world." At that comment he felt her place harsh kisses and bites on his neck. Her fingers trailed on the buŧŧons of his shirt.

"You want the world to end?"

"Yes, there is no longer anything that excites me here." She sighs. "Well if you returned to me then maybe I could consider stopping him from destroying everything."

"You have that much power?"

Sophia chuckled. "You have no idea what I can do."

He could probably guess though. It isn't difficult, since he already knew her quite well. But that was in the past, it seems like she has changed now. She has become more sinister and crazy. To think she got Mei to agree to plastic surgery. "How did you pull that surgery off? They look exactly the same."

Haruka was not familiar with plastic surgery very well. But even he understood that it is impossible to look exactly the same as someone else. There will always be something different. But he did not notice at all.

"I did it personally."

Her ability huh? It was something he avoided thinking about. Sophias ability is beyond dangerous. In the past he could keep it under control due to their odd relationship but not anymore. This was one of the main reasons why he got angry at Lila whenever she tried to deal with Sophia.

The reason why he is letting her do this too. He felt the cold wind brush against his now nȧkėd torso. Sophia quickly removed her shirt and skirt as she kissed his lips.

Haruka did not do anything he could not do anything. The current situation made it difficult for him to move, his senses dulled due to whatever pill he drank. Moreover, how could he miss the knife in her bag?

If it were the old him he would be the one who made the first move. Bored, tired of life and high he would have entertained her. But the current him is married to the most beautiful woman on the planet. He was working hard so they could return to their peaceful days, there was nothing about the current situation that would make Lila smile. Him nȧkėd with another woman who is one-sidely trying to have sėx with him.

This is annoying. What is Sophia trying to do?

Those questions were stupid too. This current situation mirrors the accident that occured in the past. Back then she did it with him too, and then the car fell into the ocean. The only difference was Terashima Lila arrived and she tried to save him. She was close when Sophia pushed her.

The memories from back then and now overlap.

But he already knew now that she would not appear. The one person he wants to see. He is gradually forgetting the sensation and warmth of her skin. Lila, he wants to see her so badly. Sophia bit his lip and pulled away salvia coated both her lips and his.

To any guy her current appearance would look alluring, but he only looked disappointed at her.

Do people change?

It depends on the person. Haruka tried to change, he worked hard so Lila would not leave his side. He was doing a good job. But Sophia always finds a way to chip into his skin and bring out the demons.

"Scum is scum no matter where he goes. Do you think you changed?" Sophia said seriously.

"Maybe."

Her gaze dimmed then and in that moment she pressed something from the side. His car accelerated forwards at rapid speed, and in the next second he was on the ocean. Haruka closed his eyes.
