RWBY: Fireborn

Chapter 69 - The Truth Comes Out 1

Logan sat in one of the waiting rooms while he went over what he was going to bring to the exhibition match against Summer, Tai, Qrow, and Winter. So far he had his [Crescent Moons] (Pistols x Daggers), his [Heaven-sent] (Smg x Tonfa), and his [Hell-sent] ( M2 Browning x broadsword) along with several cylinders of ash too. As he checked over his weapons, Logan couldn't help but think how the fight was going to go.

First was Summer, Logan had used his rebirth ability to heal her at the request of Tai. Not for anything other then giving her what she lost back. He wanted to let her see how Ruby and Yang were growing up at the very least and at the most get her leg back. She was the first passenger/test subject Logan used with this ability after he got it.

Second is that Tai had kept up with his training unlike in the series where he stopped after becoming a teacher. In the show, Tai had stopped being a Hunter after Ruby was born, yet still trained just in case. And when Summer died, he took up a job as a teacher to help deal with the loss and stopped training while doing his best to raise Ruby and Yang.

Third, with Qrow, he has been better at handling his alcohol addition and has better skill then the show. Due to Logan, Qrow had someone to help train and train with to better improve himself as he and Logan took missions together. Qrow also had a good understanding of how Logan fights, making this harder then it is.

And last, but not least, was Winter. She's been especially trained and has more combat experience then Tai, who retired, and Summer, who was heavily injured and had to retrain herself. She may as well be the second biggest problem after Qrow and his semblance. Though, Winter's semblance is anything to scoff at either as well.

Logan sighed as he thought about their abilities while he cleaned his weapons. Two were retired Huntress/Hunter, one is a active Hunter, and the last one is an Atlas Specialist. Even if three were once one part of Vale's best Team, the council should have at least brought in active Hunters/Huntresses for this Logan thought. As Logan was distracted with his thoughts, he didn't notice the door to the waiting room open. Quiet steps slowly walked towards him and before he knew it, he felt a hand on his shoulder

Acting on instinct, Logan stood and shoved the chair he was sitting in back into whoever was behind him. As he felt the hand let up, Logan grabbed it and pulled it in front of him and pinned it on the table. What he found was a blushing Glynda that was pinned with her back on the table. Logan activated his [Presence Detection] quickly to see if they were alone,

Logan: "Glynda, love, I'm so sorry I did that." Logan said as he gave her a quick kiss and pilled her up. "I was preoccupied with my thoughts."

Glynda: "It's fine, you just surprised me." Glynda replied as she fixed her clothing. "Anyway, I'm here to tell you that the match has postponed, maybe even cancelled."

Logan: "Why?" Logan asked.

Glynda: "A body was found in one of the Dust reactors that power the arena." Glynda told Logan, who paled as she pulled up a picture of it. "We have yet to Identified who the person was as the body was..."

Logan: "Because the body was desecrated and turned into some sort of freakish 'art'." Logan finished for her, after all, he seen it before. "I've seen things like that before, three times in fact."

Logan: "Once before I left Menagerie, It was during the attempted prison break that I found several like that. The second was when I was out with Qrow on a search and capture mission, we found our target pinned up on a cross in a similar fashion to the first ones I found. The third was before the festival started at that restaurant." Logan told her as he put his gear on. "How long ago was that found?"

Glynda: "Less then thirty minutes ago, the blood and body were still warm." Glynda informed him as they hurriedly left the room together. "It was found in the North-East reactor room on the bottom floor behind the staircase."

Logan: "Any tracks?" Logan asked as they made their way to where Glynda said.

Glynda: "Nothing, even the cameras in the area didn't catch anything." Glynda replied as she started to nearly run to keep up with Logan's stride.

Logan: "What of those that came to watch the matches?" Logan asked as they nearly ran through the corridors.

Glynda: "We currently have them all in the stands with a announcement saying that an issue occurred. The matches will continue as soon as it is solved." Glynda said as she punched a code into a reinforced steel door with a keypad.

Logan: "That will only solve this for a short while, we got to handle this fast." Logan said gravely as the two of them entered into the reactor room. "Otherwise everyone will start to suspect something. Oum help us should it get out, because I'm sure that every Grimm for miles with come sprinting to the walls."

As the two of them started down the stairs inside the reactor room, a feint smell permeated the air. Logan and Glynda knew the smell well. Wet iron from blood spilled not that long ago. Both knowing that this would be gruesome, they continued to descend. They found the body still where it laid as no one touched until they could move it without anyone knowing. Ice dust was placed to chill the body to prevent decay until then. Upon arriving, Logan crouched down to examine it. After a few moments, Logan stood up and turned to Glynda.

Logan: "Glynda, when was the last transport shuttle?" Logan asked with urgency in his voice

Logan: "Then the one that did this is still in the coliseum." Logan said gravely. "We don't know who, or maybe what, did this. Can you give the order that teams of five are to start patrolling and radio in every other minute or if they find any suspicious?"

Glynda: "There isn't enough personnel on this thing to do that." Glynda informed Logan. "At most I can get teams of two deployed. But even then, I don't know how many would be needed to watch the crowd." Her voice carried sorrow. "Even if we did that, it might arouse suspicion."

Logan cursed to himself as he realized that Glynda was right. Even with they had the amount to do so, it might alert the killer that they knew he, she, or what is here. If that happened, a panic would be the least of their worries. Tensions were already high after the restaurant situation and all the robberies that Roman caused. Due to that, several Beacon third and fourth year teams along with a few dozens of licensed Hunters/Huntresses were tasked to watch the walls until the Grimm wandered away or were killed. Even with Atlas' forces watching the streets, not everyone was feeling safe. If anything, the festival was at best a distraction for a little while.

As Logan thought about what to do, Glynda was reviewing the security recordings hoping to find some sort of answer. Soon the two of them climbed up the steps, before heading towards the security office. There, they could get into contact with the various security teams that were scattered around the arena on guard duty. Both of them hoped that they could deal with this before it got out to the public. But, their hopes were dashed when Port called Glynda.

Port (On call and speaker): "Glynda, you need to get Logan to the battlefield now." Port said calmly, yet his words held fear.

Glynda: "Peter, what happened?" Glynda asked.

Port: "The crowd found out about the body..." Port said. "And the one who did the deed is currently sitting on the battle eating an person's arm."

Logan: "It's worse then I think, isn't it?" Logan asked as the he and Glynda ran towards the battlefield entrance.

Port: "Yes... they hacked into the coliseum's network and showed the entire world their 'artwork' collection and demanded for, you, Logan." Port informed them. "The security is currently stretched thin trying to keep the crowd under control, and Vale's walls are currently being defended by everyone there. Barty left to help at the walls, and Ozpin and Salem are doing their best to fix what they can."

Port: "Most of the students are helping deal with the crowd and the Hunters..." Port trailed off.

Logan: "They tried to fight whoever it is and lost." Logan finished Port's sentence for him. "What of Qrow, Winter, Tai, and Summer?"

Port: "Tai and Summer didn't engage as they were busy trying to get people away from the battlefield. Qrow and Winter engaged but lost and had to retreat for fear of death." Port told them. "The Atlas forces are currently deployed in Vale getting people to the shelters and fighting off rioters who took to the streets."

Glynda: "Thank you Peter." Glynda said as the she and Logan made it to a door leading into the battlefield. "We'll handle it from here. Do what you can to help where it needs to the most." She told him as she hung up her scroll.

Logan: "Glynda, I want you to stay back-" Logan started to say but got cut off.

Glynda: "I'm not staying out of this fight!" Glynda said as she looked sternly at him. You go, I go with you. I'm not letting you fight whoever this is by yourself."

Logan: "I'm not asking you to stay out of this, I want to to stay back and provide support when I need it and to distract them when you see an opening." Logan told her as he ċȧrėssed her cheek with his hand. "Whoever it is, is able to handle both Qrow and Winter. And I highly doubt they fought against them one on one either. So, please?"

Glynda: "Are you sure?" She asked as she knew what Logan said was true. "I don't want to be a burden to you..." She whispered to herself as she down cast her eyes and lightly put her hand on Logan's.

Logan: "Your far from a burden." Logan said as he kissed her lips. "I trust you to watch my back. And I trust you to handle anything that is thrown at you with ease. It's just whoever this it wants me and they'll get to me one way or another. That's why I want to to hold back and support me when you can. Okay?" Logan asked and received a nod. "Now, once this is over, I'm all yours. Whatever you want me to do, I'll do it with no questions asked."

Cannibal Woman: "Ah, Mister Scarlett!~" The woman said sensually. "It's a pŀėȧsurė to finally meet you face to face!~" Her voice held untold pŀėȧsurė. "Though, I doubt you would recognize me after what you did."

Hey guys, it's your crappy author!

I just wanted to say that this chapter was gonna be longer but things happened. One was that my vacation has come to an end. Now, it was mainly a paid vacation with a bit of work done from my ŀȧptop here and there, but due to a Covid-17 outbreak at my workplace I had it extended and now I'm needed to be back at my workplace to help get everything up and running again after it was dealt with. So I'm flying back Monday morning and there maybe a possibility of no chapter next week. If I can, I'll write one and it my be short. I don't know for sure.

Now on the other hand, please comment on the chapter with your ideas or things that don't make sense. It helps me grow as a author and helps me make better chapters.

That's all I wanted to say.
