RWBY: Fireborn

Chapter 63 - The Branwen Curse

(A/N: So you know, this is just basically a Alternative Universe already with my character. So feel free to make your own thoughts about this version's history. Also, I decided to make this a little dark. Have a good read!)

???: "I'LL KILL YOU!!!!" A voice rang out in Ozpin's office as a little, ten year old choked the life out of Qrow while Ruby, Yang, Logan, Glynda, Ozpin, and Salem watched on in shocked and scared awe.

They watched as a ten year old girl choke Qrow with one arm while she used the other to beat on his head. She forced Qrow to drop to his knees after jumping off of him and punching him between his legs. As Qrow dropped, the girl jumped and kneed Qrow in the face. It was at this point that Logan intervened and used his ash to pull the girl off of Qrow as she had started to kick him while he was down.

Yang: "Where did you get this bundle of joy?" Yang asked sarcastically as she watched Logan pull her off off Qrow.

Logan: "I stopped at Junior's club for a drink and he asked me to bring her to Qrow." Logan said as he tied her to a chair with his ash. "Let's just say that he was desperate enough to pay me to help her out."

Ozpin: "I'm not gonna ask why you were at a club, Mr. Scarlette." Ozpin said as he pinched the bridge of his nose as he sat down at his desk. "Nor am I gonna ask who she is as I can already tell."

Salem: "But for those that don't already know." Salem said while glancing at Ruby and Yang. "Please inform us of who she is."

Logan: "She goes by Marry but her full name is Marionette Branwen." Logan said as he kept an eye on her encase she got out somehow. "She's Qrow's daughter apparently."

For those that didn't realize who she was, aka Ruby, Yang, and Glynda, quietly absorbed the information. Salem and Ozpin just waited for them to absorb the information. While Logan used his golden flames to heal Qrow who was groaning on the floor of the office. After close to five minutes, Salem broke the silence and spoke first while Qrow kept Marry at a distance from her.

Marry was about a 4 foot 8inches with short black, spiky hair in a bob cut and ruby red eyes that seemed to glow. She was wearing ankle cut black boots with dark grey dress pants, a white short sleeve shirt under a black, three buŧŧon vest. on her left arm is a vambracer with a large blue dragon coiled around it. Her right had one as well but with a green great-sword. She even looked like a child version of a female Qrow, yet she seemed to have an air of elegance floating around her at her young age.

Salem: "So Marry, why did you set out to find your father?" Salem asked the first question when it start3ed to get awkward.

Marry: "My mother died a few months ago and my grandparents on my mother's side hates me." Marry answered plainly.

Glynda: "Okay, what was your mother's name?" Glynda asked, hoping she could at least find any other family for her as Qrow wasn't that reliable.

Marry: "Annette Zaffre" Marry said as he wiggled in the seat, trying to get comfortable.

Marry then answered several rounds of questions while Qrow kept getting father and father from her. Ruby, being her, thought he was just being nervous around his daughter he just found out about it. Finally, Qrow couldn't take being close to her and throw Ruby's arm off of him and backed away fast while rubbing his arm vigorously.

Ruby: "Uncle Qrow, what's wrong?" Ruby asked with clear concern in her voice while Marry looked on with confusion.

Qrow: "I'm fine." Qrow obviously lied. "Really."

Logan: "Qrow." Logan said as he looked Qrow right in his eye. "If 'that' is starting to appear, it's time that they know." Logan said while gesturing to Ruby, Yang, and Marry, mostly Yang and Marry though.

Salem: "Logan, I know that your views about things like 'that' but you have to realize that it sometimes better to leave things left unsaid." Salem told Logan while sipping her tea she had left on Ozpin's desk which was next to a paper bag.

Ozpin: "I'm inclined to agree, Mr Scarlette." Ozpin spoke his mind.

Glynda: "I'm with Mr Scarlette on this myself." Glynda said, siding with Logan. "Though there are times when it is better left unsaid, this isn't one of those time I'm afraid."

Ruby: "Tell us what?" Ruby asked worried. "If it's something that has to do with how Qrow's acting, we deserve to know."

Yang: "Yea." Yang agreed as she went and picked Marry up and sat down with Marry on her ŀȧp. "Qrow only started acting funny when he got close to Marry. And if it involves her and us, we gotta know what's happening."

Logan" :*Sigh* Qrow, it's your call." Logan said as he released Marry from his ash as she appeared to have calmed down and stayed in Yang's ŀȧp when she was. "But, if you do tell them, no lies or half truths. Give it to them straight, it's the least you can do."

Qrow looked down as he thought. Ruby and Yang fussed over Marry while waiting for Qrow to come to a decision. Glynda, Salem and Ozpin walked off to one side of the office to discuss about something that just came up and needed a supervisor to watch over it. Logan waited between the girls and Qrow encase something happened. Qrow the sighed loudly which got girls' attention as he came to a decision.

And since you don't know, me and Raven were part of a bandit tribe and Theran, our 'father', was the previous leader. When he lead the tribe, it was 5-600 strong with camps all across Remnant. He was the one who unlocked our aura for us and taught us everything we know. And the one who sent us to Beacon to learn how to kill Hunters and Huntresses. Raven and I were all ready to learn what we could for the sake of the tribe, but two people made us see what we couldn't. Tai Xiao Long and Summer Rose, our former teammates.

Thanks to them, we learn far more then our 'father' ever taught us and how the world really is with our knowledge we gained from him. They made us realize what we were doing was wrong and helped us overcome our twisted teachings. Hell, believe it or not, Raven was the first to come around to them while I tried to stay with the plan our father gave us.

Raven, she wanted to just run away and forget anything about the tribe when she learned what his goal was. But that changed when she met a girl she fell in love with a girl called Crystal Clearwater. The two of them were practically stuck to each others hɨps. Raven was ready to throw away everything for her and her alone, Crystal was the same. But, it was not meant to be.

Our 'father' found out somehow and used his semblance, Curse Mark, that he planted on us to force Raven to murder her when the two of them went on a mission together. Officially, Crystal died due to her being overrun by Beowolves. Unofficially, Raven killed her due to our Theran's semblance over a period of six days. Oz, Salem, and I were the only ones who knew what really happened to her. That day, me and Raven finally knew what we had to do, but we couldn't go against our him head on.

That's why me and Raven planned for one of us to kill Theran and take over as the position of the tribe leader. I was ready to take over so that Raven could lead a normal life with Tai after he saved her from despair, but Theran found out that the location of the tribe was leaked. This all happened just after she gave birth to you Yang. And this was after years of planning too. But Tai and Summer didn't know as to keep them safe in case things went south.

I was outed as the traitor after we managed to get a good chunk of them on our side. And that day, Theran, used his semblance to torture me in front of the entire tribe. Deeming me a blood traitor to them all and then preached to everyone that 'The strong shall survive and the weak shall submit'. As he went to execute me, Raven took her chance and stabbed him through the ċhėst, a fatal blow. She did it out of wanting to protect me, her family. We already found out that we're kids spawned from a slave girl he took a liking to, so we never saw him as our father.

Anyway, even after being stabbed with a fatal blow, he demanded why. Raven threw his words back at him, and called him a cowered and failure to the tribe. With his dying breath, he laughed and used the last of his aura and his life to permanently bind his Curse mark to us. For us to kill those that we are close to in a gruesome fashion. That and more.

Raven branded me a traitor and forced me out after taking control of the tribe. Passing me a note to tell Tai that she relapsed and went back to our old ways. She did all of that just to protect me, you and Tai.

It's thanks to Theran that I lost control of my semblance and it in turn, made his curse worse then Raven's. He's also why Raven can't go back to Tai and why she can't run away from the tribe. He made sure that our lives would be continuous hell for as long as we live. That's why we're so distant with those we care about." Qrow spoke as he finish his tale.

Ruby: "Logan." Ruby said while looking at him. "You knew?"

Logan: "It wasn't my tale to tell." Logan defended. "But, I saw it first hand. And it's not pretty." Logan finished solemnly.

Yang: "Wait. You saw this first hand?" Yang asked while shouting at him and holding Marry tight.

Qrow: "You know all those inappropriate stories I got?" Qrow rhetorically asked. "A lot of them were just one night stands. But, there were a few that weren't. Logan here, stopped me when I met up with one of them during a mission we had. I ended up destroying an entire apartment complex even with him holding me back. Thankfully, he saved her life."

Ozpin: "I'm sorry to interrupt this... story." Ozpin said as he quickly strolled towards the group. "I'm afraid I have to borrow Logan for a emergency mission that just came up."

Logan: "What's the mission?" Logan asked.

Ozpin: "A group of Roman Torchwick's thugs have just taken an entire restaurant hostage after robbing a dust store in downtown Vale." Ozpin informed Logan. "We need someone down there with the ability to crowd control and the ability to keep people safe should the worst happen."

Logan: "I'm guessing that you want me to head down there and see if I can defuse the situation, capture the thugs, and save the hostages with little to no damage done?" Logan asked.

Ozpin: "Unfortunately not, I'm afraid." Ozpin said with sorrow in his voice. "The situation has already escalated with three deaths so far. One officer was shot dead and two hostages used as a 'lesson' when they tried to escape. I want you down there to keep more from happening."

Ozpin: "...Granted." Ozpin said after steeling himself. "But, only if absolutely necessary. I don't want any needless-"

Logan: "No need to tell me twice." Logan interrupted him. " I'll get it done. And Qrow! You better tell them everything." Logan said as he jumped out the tower office's window.

As Logan fell, he quickly pulled his wings out and flew off into Vale. Ozpin, Salem, and Glynda watched as he flew away. The girls with there little group still stared at Qrow waiting for him to continue. While Qrow, had no idea where to go next as he was still unsure what to tell them next.

Yang: "Hey, Uncle Qrow." Yang said after getting some confidence back, though still shaky from the revel. "What's my mother like?"

Qrow: "Well, you look just like her when she was your age." Qrow said, grateful he had someplace to start. "Except your hair, you have Tai's hair color."
