Chapter 25: Sudden Awakening

After fighting for a while, Li Huailin now roughly understood the dungeon’s difficulty. The monsters’ attacks weren’t that high, after calculating based on his own defense, an attack on a normal Warrior player would only deal around 20-30 damage. However, their poison was truly too overwhelming—a single snake could give you a debuff that decreased your Health Points by 25 every 5 seconds—what’s more, this debuff could actually stack for at most, three times. This meant you would lose 75 Health Points every 5 seconds. Not to mention, the debuff each snake gave you was separate. In other words, if a group of three snakes bit a single person, they could cause three debuffs that decreased 75 Health Points for every 5 seconds, after adding it all up, this would equate to losing 225 Health Points every 5 seconds. If it continued for 30 seconds, it would mean over 1,300 damage. The health points of a defensive Warrior at this level was roughly around this amount, so it was really extremely hard to fight—if the healer wasn’t up to par or didn’t have enough mana, it was even possible for the party to be annihilated just because of the small monsters alone.

However, these things didn’t really matter to Li Huailin. These small snakes only bit him for 10 points of damage, but the poison they gave him could actually regenerate his health. After fighting alongside Li Huailin for a while, the women discovered that they didn’t really have anything to do. This was especially true for Red Face Drinks Water, who was supposed to be in charge of healing.

Li Huailin had an extremely high aggro. In fact, he wouldn’t lose the aggro of each monster after a single strike. On top of this, he didn’t even lose any Health Points, which meant that no one in the entire party needed healing. Red Face Drinks Water, who soon discovered that she had nothing to do, also started to attack the monsters with divine light.

The monsters were cleared quickly and safely. The small party soon forged their way onto the first boss. What’s more was that it only took them less than 10 minutes!

The first boss was a giant snake with alternating red and green stripes. Apart from being larger than the usual snakes, Li Huailin couldn’t really feel that the snake was strong at all.

“Uh, I actually researched the guide on the web to know what the first boss’ skills and fighting strategy are. Do you need me to explain?” Red Moon walked over and asked him.

“You can tell them. I’m going in,” Li Huailin raised his sword and suddenly charged forward.

“Hiss!” The boss also entered a battling position. With a tremendous hiss, it charged towards Li Huailin who was at the forefront and entered its sight first.

“Heavy Slash!”

At the same time, the large snake also landed a blow on Li Huailin.

Level 2 Venom: Receive 35 Health Points every 5 seconds, continues for 30 seconds, 5 maximum stacks.

And yet, this was another boss that screwed itself over. The boss reminded Li Huailin of Yazir. Soon after, the boss’ level two venom now stacked to 5 layers, this regenerated 175 Health Points every 5 seconds for Li Huailin, roughly the same amount of health the boss’ normal attacks shaved off—Li Huailin didn’t lose any Health Points again.

“Does this boss have any strange skills? If it doesn’t, all of you can come hit it to save time,” Li Huailin said to the women behind him.

“I don’t think it would really save much time…” Red Moon couldn’t help but say this. In less than 20 seconds since the fight started, the boss already lost one-fourth of its health—the snake boss would probably be dead within a minute.

Although this was the case, the girls still started attacking. The Priest, Red Face Drinks Water, who had nothing to do, also joined in.

“When the boss’ health is below 30%, it’ll go berserk and its attack speed and attack power will both increase,” Red Moon already changed to a two-handed sword. Next to Li Huailin, she said this while slashing at the boss.

“Just one skill? What a weak-ass boss,” Li Huailin sighed.

As expected, when the boss’ health reached below 30%, its attack speed and attack power somewhat increased. This could be somewhat dangerous for normal parties. However, for Li Huailin, he didn’t feel any pressure at all.

Battle Record: You’ve killed the Viper Cave’s first boss, Great Snake Duras, minus 375 Experience.

Following a tremendous anguishing shriek, they killed the first boss in less than a minute.

“Yay! Success!” Red Face Drinks Water immediately jumped up and shouted this.

“Even though we defeated the boss on our first attempt, why do I feel like there’s no sense of accomplishment…” Red Bloodstain said, feeling quite complicated.

“Don’t dwell on it, Second Sister, Sister Moon! Hurry up and search the corpse!” Red Face Drinks Water shouted hurriedly.

“Should I do it?” Red Moon took a glance at Li Huailin and asked him.

“Sure, go ahead, I don’t really have any need for equipment, just give me whatever is left,” Li Huailin said casually.

Red Moon didn’t ask any further, she bent down to search the boss’ corpse—there were two pieces of Bronze-grade equipment.

Cutting Sword (Bronze): Single-handed sword, Attack Power: 15-20, Strength +8. Requirements: Level 10. Class: Warrior, Knight, Rogue, Hunter.

Snakeskin Pauldrons (Bronze): Leather armor, Physical Defense: 8-10, Magic Defense: 5-5, Agility +5. Requirements: Level 10.

“Give the pauldrons to Bloodstain and the sword to Huailin.” Since they were all in the same guild, there weren’t any problems, Guild Leader Red Moon immediately distributed the equipment.

“Oh!” Li Huailin openly accepted the sword and looked at it. He really didn’t have any need for equipment, as it didn’t really add much attack power anyway—besides, it would just drop when he died. This sword’s appearance was slightly better-looking than the newbie’s Damaged Sword. At least it wasn’t rusty.

“Let’s continue,” brandishing the new sword in hand, Li Huailin waved his hand and informed them.

Moving forward after defeating the first boss, Li Huailin discovered that the monsters started to become different. The first group of monsters they encountered was a human-shaped monster and two green snakes.

Serpent Manipulator Scout: Level 17, Health: 1,200, Physical Attack: 80, Physical Defense: 60.

Li Huailin could still see the monster’s stats now. If the other side was one level higher, he wouldn’t be able to see it.

The Serpent Manipulator Scout held a wooden bow in its hands. It was a long-range attack type and its attack power wasn’t low—a single one of its arrows could damage Li Huailin for over 30 Health Points—of course, it didn’t really pose much of a threat to him. The monster could be easily taken care of in two strikes with critical hits and three strikes without critical hits.

They forged onwards very easily, the serpent-type monsters they encountered became increasingly fewer, while the human-shaped monsters started to increase—the new monster that appeared was even a Mage-type monster.

Serpent Manipulator Magician: Level ??, Health: ??, Magic Attack: ??, Physical Defense: ??.

Despite Li Huailin being unable to see the level, its health was apparently less than that of the Serpent Manipulator Scout. This was because he took care of it in two strikes without any critical hits. The monster could also cast lightning, however, since this was only a single-target attack, it hit Li Huailin for over 90 damage. He easily recovered the lost Health Points from the small snake’s venom.

In just less than 10 minutes, they finally arrived at where the second boss was. It was also the last boss, Serpent Manipulator Durjash.

Serpent Manipulator Durjash was a human-shaped boss. It stood at the center of an altar carved with many snakes. There weren’t any small monsters in the surrounding, and he was alone standing at the altar, muttering something. He held a staff in one of his hands, who seemed to be a boss who knew how to use spells.

“This should be the last boss, right? It seems to be a dead-end.” Li Huailin checked the surroundings and asked the Guild Leader.

“Yes, this should be the end of the stage.” Red Moon nodded. “Let’s start the fight, I’ll tell you about the boss’ skills while we engage him.”

“Okay,” Li Huailin nodded and then quickly charged up to the boss.

“The God of Vipers shall rule the world! You heathens will have nowhere to hide!” Snake Manipulator Durjash shouted aloud as it advanced towards Li Huailin.

Li Huailin struck once, shaving off nearly 5% of the boss’s Health Bar. He discovered that this boss’ health was actually a little less than that of the giant snake in the first stage. In comparison, this boss’ attack power should also be a little stronger.

“Heh!” As expected, the boss waved its hand and a flash of lightning struck Li Huailin. This was much more painful than the small monsters’ lightning spells earlier, the damage took out 150 Health Points immediately.

“Ah!” The Priest, Red Face Drinks Water, who had never healed once during this dungeon raid, was quickly alarmed. She suddenly remembered that she was still a healer and immediately cast a restoration spell on Li Huailin.

Restoration Spell: Lose 25 Health Points every 3 seconds, continues for 12 seconds.

“Hey! You…” Just when Li Huailin wanted to boil Drinks Water for helping the boss, he suddenly came to a realization. His entire body couldn’t help and quiver in excitement. “Oh sh*t! I’m so f*cking stupid, why didn’t I think of such an easy way to level up until now?!”
