Reincarnated As A Chameleon And Eating Everything To Evolve

"Kid! Where have you been? The village chief has been searching for you all this time!" One of the patrolling kobolds shouted to the first kobold kid.

The patrolling kobold wore a piece of cloth that covered only his bottom part and the clothes seemed to have been from an animal's hide. But that's not the only thing that the kobold is wearing, he also wore bone-like armor that was attached to both of his shoulders using some kind of straps and even the weapon that he carried was a spear that was made using bone that was sharpened to be used as the spearhead and a long stick that was thick enough was used for the handle.

Before the three patrolling kobolds came near them, the first kobold kid already replied with a shout of his own,

"I have been searching for help and I have found one!" The first kobold kid said while he gestured his hands towards Matthew politely as if to present him.

The patrolling kobolds then looked at Matthew up and down from Matthew's head to Matthew's legs. Then the kobold said,

"Hello brother, what is your name and where did you come from?" The kobolds surely realize that Matthew should have already been given a name because he already looked like a full-fledged ȧduŀt kobold and they also asked where Matthew had come from because they had never seen him before in the village.

"Hello brother, my name is Matthew, and I come from that part of the forest, quite a long distance from here," Matthew said as he pointed his fingers to the forest direction. Matthew actually didn't think much and just pointed randomly in the forest's direction since he was too lazy to check on his minimap and he just guessed where his nest would be and pointed in that direction.

After finally hearing Matthew speak, the patrolling kobolds finally let their guard down around him a little. It is normal for them to be suspicious since not only that they had never seen any other kobolds other than themselves in the area, Matthew's appearance was something that is quite peculiar for them.

Starting from Matthew's eyes that looked bigger and rounder than theirs, then to his weird looking tail that is in no way belongs to a kobold's, and the most difference that stands out is Matthew's crocodile scutes that covered the whole back part of his body and the absence of any furs on his body. Based on those facts and another fact that Matthew suddenly appeared out of nowhere is really suspicious for them.

But after hearing Matthew speak their language perfectly, they are already sure that no matter how suspicious they are of Matthew, the fact that Matthew could speak their language perfectly is a fool-proof sign that Matthew is truly a kobold for them and hence why they dare to let their guard down slightly.

After relaxing a bit, the kobold patrol then shook Matthew's hand while also introducing himself,

"Nice to meet you, Matthew, my name is Gus and the other two here are Hig and Odu," the frontmost kobold patrol said to Matthew while pointed to the other two kobolds behind him.

After Matthew had shaken hands with all three of the kobold patrols, he went back to his previous place beside the first kobold kid before Gus asked the first kobold kid,

"You said that you brought help for us, where is it? Is it only Matthew alone? Matthew looked like he was already a kobold warrior, but no offense Matthew, one kobold warrior is not enough to help out with our current predicament."

Before Matthew was about to speak and explain himself, the first kobold kid beat him to the chase and spoke first, "Don't worry big brother Gus, big brother Matthew is not an ordinary kobold warrior!"

Gus then looked interestingly at Matthew before he asked, "Oh, why is it?"

The first kobold kid then said aloud, "He single-handedly defeated the dangerous beast that grandpa… village chief had talked about!"

After hearing the first kobold kid's shocking, loud, and clear statement, Gus' eyes and ears were filled with disbelief as he scanned Matthew once again from top to bottom trying to find out what's special about Matthew that enabled him to fight and kill the dangerous beast that had been living in that part of the forest ever since before he was even born.

'This kobold's appearance is certainly nowhere near an ordinary kobold's, but is he really that strong?' Gus thought to himself.

The tales of a dangerous beast living in that part of the forest have already been told since many generations of kobolds, so of course, Gus knows about it too. He even had accidentally seen the beast towering figure once when he was out on a hunt before. But he didn't even dare to stand at the beast's sights let alone try to fight it and actually defeat it.

Now that he finally heard that someone had killed the beast single-handedly, he knew how important this matter is for the kobold's village that was currently in a bad predicament. And after realizing this. Gus then said,

"Quickly bring him to your grandfather, he should know best what should we do next with the presence of brother Matthew!" Gus said to the first kobold.

The first kobold then nodded before quickly grabbing Matthew's hand and dragging him deeper into the village towards one of the wooden buildings near the center of the village.

Matthew was dragged along by the first kobold kid further into the village, Matthew looked left and right and he could see that even though half of the total population had been killed, the village was still bustling with kobolds walking around everywhere.

Some of them can be seen repairing the wooden houses that were broken from the humans' skirmishes while some others could also be seen preparing boars and deers that they had just hunted by separating the skin and the meat part so that they could fully utilize each of the parts properly.

'I guess the hides that they used for their clothes come from those boars and deers skins while the bone spearheads come from processing the bones by sharpening them and forming them to the appropriate shape to be used as weapons and some other stuff.'

The kobolds that Matthew had seen so far didn't have much clothing on them. They only used a simple cloth to cover up their bottom parts and except for the patrolling kobolds, they didn't even wear bone armor to cover up their shoulders.

'Come to think of it…'

But Matthew was not the only one who was observing the kobolds in the village. The kobolds also observed Matthew as Matthew walked past them. Not only Matthew's peculiar appearance was not an everyday sight for them, the fact that Matthew didn't wear anything to cover up his lower body parts is also another point that catches the kobold's attention.

'I DIDN'T WEAR ANY PANTS OR ANYTHING AT ALL!"

Matthew had lived without any pants ever since he came into this world and he doesn't feel weird or embarrassed at all before, but now that everybody is actually looking at him and he realizes that he actually didn't wear any clothes, Matthew felt somewhat awkward and he even planned to just disappear for a moment to snatch up some animal hide to cover up his bottom parts.

But what Matthew didn't realize is that even if he used a cloth to cover up his bottom parts, there's nothing that could be seen there because his physiology is different from a kobold's.

Male chameleons didn't have their genitals in the same place as the other animals such as the wolves. Instead, the male chameleons have their genitals on the base of their tails and they extend towards the tip of their tails instead of their head.

And now that Matthew altered his body from a quadruped to a biped, his genitals are actually covered nicely by his own body from the front and his tails also gave it a solid cover from the back. This means that Matthew's current embarrassment is only a result of his ex-human psychology being used to covering the front part of his bottoms using pants.

The kids had actually noticed the absence of something on the front part of Matthew's bottoms. While the second and third kobold children didn't even wonder the reason for such things, the first kobold who was smarter and more mȧturė than his peers of course noticed it.

But the first kobold thought that Matthew was a different type of kobolds than the kobolds from his village and Matthew's physical appearance also differed significantly and thus the first kobold thought that it is normal if something that he thought should be there is absent on Matthew's body. So he just kept quiet and didn't ask about it since it didn't matter in the first place.

After enduring about 2 whole minutes of embarrassments, Matthew had finally arrived at the village chief's house. It was not any different from the other houses, even the size and shape are the same. Without the kobold kid's guidance, Matthew wouldn't even know that it was the village chief's house, the house didn't even have any guards standing at the entrance and it looks like anyone can just visit freely if they wanted to.

And that's also the case for the first kobold kid, especially when the village chief is his own grandfather.

"Grandpa! I've come and brought some good news for you!" The first kobold kid shouted loud even before they entered the house.

And without waiting for long Matthew heard a reply from inside the house. The voice clearly belonged to an old man and it sounded quite angry as it replied the first kobold kid shout with another shout saying,

"Come here inside and I will deliver you your good news first by hitting you five times from disappearing without notice!"
