Yan Lin was sitting on the sofa behind Zu Jin. He was playing a child’s clapping game with Zu Xiaofei.

He saw her cold expression when she turned around and he asked softly, “What did my mother say?”

“She asked us to go feast at the Swan Goose Gate!”

Yan Lin looked at her and was silent for a few seconds. Then, he suddenly smiled. “Yeah, we’re not going.”

As soon as Zu Jin saw him smile, she couldn’t get angry anymore.

They exchanged meaningful glances, just like a black-hearted couple who had just carried out a scam.

The next day, Zu Jin got off work early. She received news that the medical examiner had finished their investigation on Ji Shiyu and she was going to be buried today.

When Yan Lin asked Zu Jin if she wanted him to come with her, she said, “You can just look after Feifei at home. I think Uncle Ji… probably doesn’t want to see you.”

Although Yan Lin and Yan Yuelin did not have any affection for each other, they still had the same father.

Ji Desheng must still be uncomfortable with Yan Lin.

Zu Jin drove to the cemetery. She wore a black coat and trousers. She saw Ji Desheng and some of his close relatives as soon as she entered.

When she walked over, everyone automatically made way for her.

Zu Jin sighed on the inside and put the chrysanthemum on Ji Shiyu’s grave.

She took three incense sticks from the person on the side and bowed to the grave. Then, she stooped down and inserted it into the incense burner.

When she stood up, she turned her head and looked at Ji Desheng.

She could only see that he looked calm, but his eyes were red. It was like he was trying his best to not collapse in front of the crowd.

Zu Jin called out to him. She wanted to go over and support him.

However, Ji Desheng suddenly asked, “He didn’t come, right?”

Zu Jin didn’t understand who he was referring to at first, but she immediately responded.

“…Right, he didn’t come.”

Ji Desheng patted her on the arm. “That’s good. Even though I had approved of you being with him at first, I now hate everyone in the Yan family not that this had happened. If you did let him come, then I would have lost all my sense of reason.”

For a moment, Zu Jin didn’t know how to answer him. She looked down at Ji Shiyu’s grave. The photo on top of it was from when Ji Shiyu graduated from university.

Ji Shiyu wore a graduation cap and she was smiling brightly, filled with enthusiasm.

Zu Jin understood that Ji Shiyu really wanted to accomplish something after graduation. She was not a girl with her head filled with love, nor was she a hopeless second generation child.

Truthfully, Ji Shiyu did well in college and won a scholarship every year. Later, she and her classmates founded a small company and won several entrepreneurship awards. They were invited by their professor to give an honorable graduation speech.

But Ji Desheng did not attend her college graduation ceremony and he never praised her.

Zu Jin went to the Ji family for dinner many times. When Ji Shiyu would happily say something at the dinner table, Ji Desheng would coldly criticize her. He would tell her not to get too carried away, and then turn to Zu Jin to continue discussing work with her.

In fact, when Zu Jin thought about it right now, did Ji Desheng really love his daughter?

Of course he did.

But maybe not with that kind of love.

So with Ji Desheng’s current sadness and anger, Zu Jin could understand all parts of it. However, she could no longer have any sympathy for this old man in the bottom of her heart.

She just regretted that she did not fulfill her promise. She did not pay more attention to Ji Shiyu’s situation, and did not help her at her lowest point.

After leaving the cemetery, Zu Jin drove home. On the way, she deliberately slowed down.

She was in a gloomy mood and wanted to be alone for a while.

But soon, her cell phone rang. It was her home’s landline number.

When she answered the phone, there was Zu Xiaofei’s milky and warm voice: “Hello? Why aren’t you back yet? We’re waiting for you to have dinner together!”

Zu Jin realized that her little girl seemed to have become a little rebellious recently, especially to her. She was always making a big fuss.

It’s all Yan Lin’s fault. Every time she wants to discipline Zu Xiaofei, Yan Lin would come out and tell her not to argue with their child.

This child will be spoiled sooner or later!

When Zu Jin got home, she pretended to be angry and didn’t say a word to Zu Xiaofei.

After she washed her hands and sat down, Yan Lin said, “Can you get off work earlier in the next few days?”

“Yes, why?”

“I’m going to go to headquarters tomorrow. I’ll be back in a week. How about we ask your mother to help with Feifei for the next few days? And I’ll ask Liu Jie to help us out.”

As soon as Zu Jin heard that he wanted to ask Ms. Zuhua to come over and live with them again, she was a little reluctant, but she could not disagree with it.

“It’s fine, you can call my mom.”

Yan Lin looked at her and smiled. “It’s just for a week. You can endure it.”

Zu Jin was stubborn and refused to let him make fun of her. Thus, she blinked at him and deliberately changed the subject.

“Endure what? I’m more comfortable when you’re gone. It just so happened that my friend gave me some toys. I’ll try to see if they are better than you…”

Yan Lin recognized what her words meant, and smiled helplessly. He raised an eyebrow to hint to her that she should not say these things in front of their child.

But Zu Jin was teasing him, so how could she let it go so easily?

She tilted her head with an expression full of innocence. “What’s the matter? I’m talking about a remote control plane. I haven’t played it yet. Feifei, do you want to play with mommy?”

Zu Xiaofei was sitting across from her and saw that she was finally willing to talk to her. She nodded swiftly and replied innocently, “Yeah! When are we going to play?”
