My Master Is A Tsundere

Chapter 58 - Disciple, Think About It

"What laws are you even talking about?"

Rant Valo was in bafflement. He thought she meant the laws like the laws of the kingdom but it doesn't seem to be the case.

"Laws, the laws that make the world around us work."

Floriana Sabina said as a matter of fact. Rant Valo tilted his head in confusion. Whatever she was saying, it doesn't click in his mind.

"Put it like this. If you heat up a pot of water, it boils right? The process of the water boiling after being heated could be considered a law."

Floriana Sabina sighed after seeing Rant Valo's lack of understanding. She could only dumb it down to his level.

"Boiling water is a law? I thought laws were like the things enforced by the kingdom."

In Rant Valo's mind, the laws are those that people have to follow. Like the different laws set for agriculture that he was very familiar with as a farmer villager.

"No, no, no. Those are mortal laws. I'm talking about the natural laws. These laws are made by no one. They just exist right from the beginning, Disciple."

Floriana Sabina became slightly frustrated trying to explain it to Rant Valo. For her, it was common sense, but for Rant Valo who would have normally never had touched upon such a high level of knowledge, it was alien to him.

"Ohhh! I finally understand."

Only after Floriana Sabina's diligent explanation was Rant Valo able to finally understand what she meant. It still didn't make sense for him, but at least for now, he knows that they are entirely different from each other. It was like date and date are not the same. The other is a date considered time, while the other one is about spending your time with your love partner.

"Good. Now Supreme Laws are like the fundamental laws in the universe. All of the stuff that exists is governed by the Supreme Laws."

Floriana Sabina continued her explanation. The Supreme Laws are very elusive and mysterious. They are very hard to understand. That is why only gods are said to be able to touch upon them.

"Then what are the laws which are not fundamental in the universe?"

Rant Valo asked in curiosity. If there was a supreme law, there should also be a 'normal' law.

"The Elemental Laws are Fire, Water, Earth, Air, etc. They are all around us. The boiling water example I gave you earlier is a small part of the Water law."

Floriana Sabina explained. There are so many elements in the universe that not everyone knows about all of them. What she gave were the ones that are very common in their world.

"Isn't that supposed to be a Fire law? Since you used heat."

Rant Valo was confused. You need to put a pot of water under a flame to boil it. That should have been a Fire law in Rant Valo's opinion. Because the fire made the water boil.

"Nope. Disciple, think about it. Is the water on fire?"

Floriana Sabina shook her head. What he said was entirely wrong. It isn't how the laws work.

"No. It's water. How can it be on fire?"

Rant Valo responded almost immediately. Even if the water is boiling, he could tell that it was not on fire. He was not that stupid to mistake something like that.

"Exactly. The water is just in a different state because of the Fire law, but it is still inherently a part of the Water law."

Floriana Sabina nodded her head at Rant Valo's words. The water is simply boiling but it is still water. It's not like the water ignited when it boiled.

"Ah, I understand now."

Something clicked within Rant Valo's mind after she explained all of that. He could now say with confidence that he understands how the basics of the natural laws work.

"Good."

Floriana Sabina nodded her head in satisfaction. Although it took a while, Rant Valo was still able to understand what she said. She was satisfied with that. She can't really expect much from her disciple's villager brain.

"Are you guys gonna stop yet?"

Veia was looking at them bored as she rested under a tree. They were talking about confusing stuff that her head started hurting just from hearing them. In the end, she decided to just stare at the sky. But she still wanted to interact with her master so she couldn't help but look from time to time.

"You should have listened, Veia."

Rant Valo thought that it was a pity that Veia didn't listen to their discussion. It was really beneficial for his understanding of cultivation and he thought that Veia would have gained more from it as she was in a higher cultivation stage than he did.

"But master… it's too boring."

Veia slumped to the ground. Even though it was her master telling her so, their topic was just really something that flies over her head. Even if she was forced to listen to it, she wouldn't be able to put any of it inside her head.

"Sigh"

Rant Valo sighed at her laziness. He decided that he would at least teach it to her if she asks about it in the future.

"Disciple, test it out on a tree!"

Floriana Sabina suggested from the side. She wanted to see how Rant Valo's magic technique works for living things like a tree. It would be very interesting in her opinion. As trees are very sturdy, how would bad fortune affect them?

"A tree?"

Rant Valo was puzzled by her request. He thinks that nothing would happen to a tree anyway even if he tried. There's nothing for a tree to be unlucky about.

"Yes! Test it out on that one."

Floriana Sabina pointed at a lone tree on the side. It was a lush green tree of unknown species.

"Alright. Tide of Bad Fortune!"

Rant Valo could only nod his head at her request. He closed his eyes and channeled his mana. A white gush of mana once again escaped from his hands.
