My Intergalactic Soulmate

Chapter 35:The Clash - II

Alexis had never seen her mother so distressed. Melissa had never ever raised her voice at Alexis, not even once. But Alexis was not going to leave this matter just like this. She was tired of her mother treating her like a child, and she was done with her mother's lies. Alexis wanted to confront her mother.

Alexis felt that it was unfair that her mother had formed the stereotype about all Celinians based on one single person, her father. "Just because father abandoned you does not mean that everyone from that planet will do the same."

Then she looked at her mother with determined eyes, "And just so you know, he is more than a boyfriend. He is my Soulmate. And I'm not going to leave him just because you have problem with the Celinians."

Melissa didn't like the way Alexis was talking back to her. She thought that the Celinian boy had a bad influence on her innocent daughter.

Melissa scoffed at the way her daughter was talking high and mighty about her relation with that boy, "Soulmate? In this era, you still believe in soulmate? You're not in the 1800s darling, you need to wake up! There is no such thing called soulmate."

Alexis was fumed, both literally and figuratively. But Melissa failed to notice that her daughter was emitting fume from her body and continued to ridicule Alexis.

"What you have with him is called infatuation which will wear off in a few weeks and then he'll dump you. Do you want to be as miserable as me for the rest of your life? Do you want to be abandoned by that Celinian just like me?"

And suddenly, Alexis roared at her mother, "Enough! Melissa. You don't have the right to say anything when I know everything, everything that you ever kept from me." Her voice sounded different as if she was being possessed by someone else.

Melissa was silent; she was stunned to see her daughter in this form. She had never witnessed this side of Alexis before.

Alexis's hair was floating freely in the air. Her eyes were glowing. And the fire was now accumulating on the palm of her hands, to form a bright ball of azure fire in each palm.

Alexis continued in her loud voice, "I was even ready to forgive you for all your deceits but then you go on and pull off stunt like this? Asking me to leave a good man just because he is from the same planet as your husband?"

Alexis was now slowly flying towards Melissa, playing with the fire in her palms. Melissa instinctively took several steps back. Right now, she didn't even know if the person floating in front of her was her daughter or someone who possessed her daughter's body.

Melissa tried to beg Alexis to stop whatever she was doing. But just a soft whisper left her mouth, "Alexis, please stop."

Melissa kept on stepping back until her back hit the wall. She was now genuinely scared of Alexis who looked like she would attack any moment now. Tears started to roll down her cheeks.

Alexis was now floating very close to Melissa. "Why did you take me to that woman, Inara, and made her seal off my powers? And you were still not satisfied. You didn't stop there. You even made her remove all of my memories! How could you be so cruel? Those memories weren't yours to take."

Melissa covered her mouth in shock when Alexis mentioned about those incidents. She felt a shrill pain in her chest and she was having difficulty to breath. Melissa crouched down on the floor, her eyes full of regret and tears.

Alexis leaned towards Melissa; her eyes full of resentment towards her mother, "Did you really think that I would never find out about your lies? Did you think that you could always keep me in the dark? Did you think that I would always be your fragile daughter whom you could keep in the palm of your hand?"

Alexis was now pointing her palm towards her mother. Her face didn't even have a hint of sympathy towards her mother who was now scared for her life.

"Is this really my daughter? My daughter would never even harm a bug, but now she is ready to hurt me? This is all my fault. I should have never hidden the truth for so long. I should have told her before she found out the hard way." The thought came across Melissa's mind as she was shaking from fear of her daughter.

Alexis was not stepping away. She was still hovering above Melissa. Melissa could not think of anything else to calm Alexis down, so she just screamed as loud as she could, "Alexis! Are you going to hurt your own mother?"

After hearing this, Alexis came back to her senses. She realized that she was pointing the fire ball towards Melissa. She quickly flew a few feet back. The fire died down and she landed back softly to the floor.

Alexis looked at Melissa who was now a bit relieved to see that Alexis was not glowing anymore. She asked her mother to leave, "Mother, please get out of here. I don't know how to control this thing yet."

After hearing this, Melissa quickly opened the door and ran outside, leaving Alexis alone in her room.

Alexis remembered each and everything she just said and did to her mother, but she felt no remorse. Rather, all the anger that she had towards her mother seemed to have washed away. She felt calmer as if a huge burden was taken away from her heart.

She took a deep breath and then she looked at her right palm. She tried to remember how she had created the fire ball in her palm and how she was able to move it freely on her palm.

Alexis recalled that every time she would change, she would feel a huge surge of power throughout her whole body. Then she tried to replicate the same power surge, but just in the palm of her right hand. She concentrated for few seconds; she could feel the power cumulating in her palm. And slowly the azure fire started to appear in her palm.

After few more seconds, she was able to create a fire ball. Then she moved her palm to manipulate the fire ball. Then a thought stroke her mind, "Can I shoot this fire?" A devilish smirk appeared on her face and she aimed her palm at the wall in front of her.

She tried to release the fire ball from her palm and to her surprise, she could. A ball of fire left her hand. Alexis's body recoiled when she released the fire ball because she was not standing properly. It was a powerful blow; equivalent to a powerful laser beam. And when it hit the wall, it left a huge hole.

Alexis's eyes were wide open when she saw the hole in her wall, "Holy mother of light!"

She drooped her head and talked to herself, "Didn't think of the consequence, did we?"

She looked at the hole again and murmured, "How am I going to fix that damn hole now?" Then she screamed "Ahhhhhhh…" and ruffled her hair as if she was a kid who was having a bad day.

She then threw herself on the bed and kept on staring at the ceiling. She was diverted from her staring contest with the ceiling when her phone made a 'ding' sound.

It was a text message from Vorian in the Soulmate app, "Hey, is everything good? I was waiting for you!"

Alexis was not ready for another conversation, not right now. She just ignored the text and threw her phone back on the bed. But after a few seconds, she picked her phone back to reply.

She knew that if she didn't reply or call him back, he would think that she might have been in a trouble again, given her reputation of always finding trouble. So she didn't want Vorian to worry too much about her and call Natalia. And she definitely did not want to end up explaining everything that just happened to Natalia.

So, Alexis exhaled and started to type back, "I threatened my mom and now there's a hole in my wall. Other than that, everything is good." She didn't want Vorian to worry but that didn't mean she would lie to him or hide the truth.

But obviously, Vorian was worried about her. He immediately texted her back, "There's a hole in the wall? What happened? Are you alright?"

But before Alexis could text him back, he sent a project request to Alexis. However, Alexis was so not in the mood to have a conversation with any living being right now.

"Argh, Vorian, why are you being so impatient, I'm typing…" Alexis muttered to herself and rejected the project request from Vorian.

Then she texted him back, "Yes, I'm fine. But I'm not really in the mood to talk right now. We'll talk tomorrow??"

Vorian was saddened by this text of Alexis. But he knew that she was going through a lot of changes. He didn't want to insist. Knowing Alexis was okay was enough for him for now. "Sure. I hope your mood will be better by tomorrow. Take care!"

"I hope so too! Bye!" As soon as Alexis sent this, she threw her phone on bed and got back to staring at the ceiling.

"Bye!" Vorian was waiting for his message to be 'seen' but he gave up after some time and got back to his work.
