54. The Ghost Soldiers Clear the Way

In fact, Li Muquan had ulterior motives other than paying the remaining 1,000 yuan. He had chosen a new plot of land for his grandfather, and he would like to invite Chen Ming to observe Feng Shui in order to avoid a similar problem.

Chen Ming didn’t immediately agree. He touched his chin and looked at his cherished purse.

Li Muquan promptly emphasized, “Master, don’t worry, money is enough!”

Seeing this scene, Zhou Nan thought of something–This was almost like a cult.

Chen Ming smiled, “Don’t be nervous. It’s simple. Any of the geomancers could observe Feng Shui. It would be enough if you cover my transportation fare and give me a hundred yuan more.”

“Okay, okay,” Li Muquan agreed and gave him 300 yuan at once. Then he found a pen and paper, “It’s not far away. I’ll write down my address and contact details. You can come to me anytime you lack money.”

It seemed that what happened just now had utterly convinced Li Muquan. Chen Ming felt much easier now. He looked at the address and promised, “The money is all right. I’ll go tonight and read the horoscope by the way.”

Li Muquan thanked him and left the florist.

In order to stay energetic at night, Chen Ming took a nap again at noon.

When it was dark, it was time to go out. Zhou Nan followed for he wanted to broaden his horizon.

The place was really not far away. Two hundred yuan was enough for them to have a round trip by taxi. But Chen Ming went by bycicle to save money. He hummed when riding the bicycle carefreely, with the flashlight sloppily tied to the handlebars.

“You have to do this, bro?” Zhou Nan considered him really miserly.

“You don’t understand. I’m poor but proud.” Chen Ming had a set of principles.

In Zhou Nan’s opinion, running a florist and always selling flowers at high prices, Chen Ming could not be so poor as he said. “Are you poor? Nonsense.”

Late at night, there was no one on the country road. Chen Ming rushed forward in the middle of the road, shaking his head. It seemed he was riding a motorcycle, and not worried their conversation would be heard.

“Look at the eating posture of the Coal Ball. It becomes fatter and fatter.  I’ll be made poor by it sooner or later.”

Zhou Nan was puzzled, “But you said you would send it away after it has eaten up the cat food.”

“Eh, let’s wait one more month. If the cat is sent away in the presence of someone, I bet he would cry and have a breakdown.” Chen Ming was sarcastic, but actually he was hiding his embarrassment of swallowing his words.

Zhou Nan chuckled and said, “Just accept your destiny, little bro. You start to love the cat.”

“Hey, wait!” Chen Ming shouted, “If it’s still in this florist after a month,  I’ll not be surnamed Chen!”

Facing such a brazen man, Zhou Nan rolled his eyes.

The road in the front was broken, and it was hard to ride the bicycle forward. Chen Ming had to lock the bycicle and went on foot, holding the flashlight.

As he walked, he looked closely at his compass in one hand, and counted with fingers of the other hand while mumbling.

Zhou Nan followed him quietly and did not disturb his work.

Just as they walked to a higher ground, Chen Ming found a bulging and empty area of the mountain and climbed on it.

Under his feet was the deep forest valley where Li Muquan’s grandfather was buried. Standing here teetering, Chen Ming wasn’t scared at all but looked up at the starry sky.

Far from the city, looking at the bright stars in the vast sky, Zhou Nan, who had no knowledge of the horoscope, could only sigh at the countless stars. He peeped at Chen Ming and found that the latter’s expression was relaxed, so it seemed that Li Muquan had buried his grandfather in the right place.

Chen Ming was about to explain something about Feng Shui to Zhou Nan when he read the curious expression on the latter’s face. But just then, the flashlight was suddenly out.

“Ah? The battery died?” Zhou Nan asked wonderingly.

For the human eyes couldn’t adapt to the darkness so quickly, it was difficult to see clearly in the moonlight. Therefore, Chen Ming closed his eyes. A few seconds later when he opened his eyes, some glimmering blue flames in the forest caught his attention.

Zhou Nan also saw the blue flames. It was particularly obvious in the wild and dark countryside.

At first they were only scattered one by one, and soon they became more, were strung into lines, and crossed the forest. Gradually, there came different sounds of running horses, soldiers and weapons. It seemed that there was a march. But it was just too far away to see the soldiers and horses clearly.

Zhou Nan who was living in the modern world suddenly had an illusion that he had returned to the ancient world a few centuries ago.

“Chen…”

Chen Ming put his index finger to his lips to give Zhou Nan a hint of keeping silence.

Zhou Nan obeyed. He dared not move, let alone making a sound.

Chen Ming took off his T-shirt quickly, and took out three charms. He respectively stuck them on his T-shirt, his and Zhou Nan’s body swiftly,  without any hesitation.

“Let’s go.” Chen Ming ordered briefly, leaving his clothes and flashlight in place. He ran into the woods without returning, going around the other side down the hill. He ran all the way to the avenue regardless of the bicycle. When he stopped, his naked upper body was dripping with sweat, which looked somewhat indecent.

Zhou Nan didn’t know what had happened, and Chen Ming’s reaction made him feel panicked all the way. He did not dare to ask Chen Ming until the latter’s breath became even.

“Have you ever heard of the ghost soldiers?” The last four words were said very slowly, with heavy words.

“I’ve heard of it. ghost soldiers is a place where people live.” Could it be that even Chen Xiao was afraid of this ghost soldiers?

“However, the token to order these ghost soldiers was already stolen decades ago, so these are not real ones at all.”

Zhou Nan felt a sudden chill in his back. He turned back and looked out over the top of the mountain which was completely hidden in the darkness, extremely depressed.

The murderer of the Hu Clan, the token which the netherworld had been looking for all these years, was there.

“Shall we…?” Should we go to avenge for Hu Yuelan and help the underworld get back the token?

Unexpectedly, Chen Ming snapped at Zhou Nan, “Don’t even think about it!”

80,000 ghost soldiers.

Faced with the power that had destroyed the glorious ancient clan, Chen Ming could hardly protect himself. Having luckily escaped by using the charms to conceal his breath and attract attention, how could he deliberately provoke these soldiers?

On the bulging area of the mountain, someone tore off the charm from Chen Ming’s T-shirt and observed it closely. He sneered, lit the charm with an empty hand, threw it on the shirt and burned it out.

“Since you are well informed about the magic art, I’ll spare your life this time. I think you know what to do afterwards.” These words seemed to be deliberately said to Chen Ming far across the distance.
