“I feel like dying.” Nora slumped down on the desk as soon as she entered the dressing room. She could sense Flora sighing above her but didn’t have any energy to lift her face.

It’s been quite a while ever since she and Elias became temporary lovers.

Elias’ relentless attacks were draining her out. It felt like a lifetime ago when she had that strange encounter, getting her engagement cancelled in public, of which she hadn’t had the slightest idea.

They gradually became friends and then turned into temporary lovers that they were now. But from then on, Elias had been attacking her with kisses every time he had the chance.

In the end, after some painstaking negotiation, they agreed that his kisses would be limited to three times a day, and except on the lips.

In the first place, Nora had barely any experience in love. Whereas, Elias was a dashing young man whom everyone admired. On one end, she felt really flattered, but at the same time, she felt drained and tired.

She really wanted him to stop with the kisses already. She tried hinting at him several times, but afraid of his reaction, she couldn’t do much. If she wasn’t careful with her words, he might revert back to kissing her without inhibitions, so she tried to tread on the matter carefully.

In the end, she had been continuously kissed thrice a day, making Nora completely exhausted.

“Want water?”

“Thanks.” Flora passed her a glass of water and after downing it on one go, Nora’s throat felt moistened and she started to calm down.

“You probably haven’t realized it yet, but you’re already… you know.” Nora could tell from Flora’s face that she was amazed but couldn’t quite put her finger onto what it was she was talking about.

“What if you just give up and become lovers already?”

“Does becoming lovers equate to giving up?”

I mean, when it comes to deciding on things like that, shouldn’t it be because it makes you happy or something?

Well, I’m not experienced in this, but that’s what I think.

“Don’t you think it’s strange if you continue being temporary lovers?”

“I… do think so.”

Thinking about it, it’s quite strange to be in a temporary relationship as lovers, but it was what Nora had decided on so there’s nothing she could do about it. However, deciding on whether to give up or not was an entirely different matter. Above all, she’s afraid that things would get out of hand if she couldn’t give him a proper explanation.

“If you don’t like Elias and you don’t tell him sooner, you’ll lose your chance to get married.”

“I know.”

Nora was already past the so-called marriageable age. If things continue as they were, soon she’d be promoted from a poor Baron’s daughter to a poor Baron’s spinster daughter.

Obviously, no one would want to marry someone like Nora, who had no redeeming features.

In order to lessen the burden on her younger brother, Perre, who would inherit their household, Nora had no other choice but to marry a wealthy merchant commoner. Even so, she undoubtedly had better chances of marrying now than later.

Nora really didn’t have time to play around as a temporary lover.

However, she was quite hesitant to decide her future. Her hesitation stemmed from the fact that she had good feelings for Elias, which was the reason she agreed to be in a temporary relationship with him in the first place.

But she couldn’t picture what would happen if they became real lovers. Suffice to say, that’s how much she liked him.

I didn’t think I was such an indecisive person.

“But you’re different, Flora. Everything’s great, right? You’re even popular.” Nora saw Flora heaved a sigh.

They were of the same age but everything else was different.

Flora was beautiful with brown hair and eyes. Even though she’s also a Baron’s daughter, their household was wealthy. Moreover, Flora was the successor and was also currently studying Management. An independent, outstanding lady.

“Well, I guess so…”

She gave such a vague reaction which was rare for Nora. It looked like even the popular ones whose lives seemed favorable also had a lot of things to worry about. Everyone was fighting their own battles after all.

Perhaps it wasn’t so bad to be poor, since I could easily overcome it by working hard and making more money.

Considering she was even able to think that way, Nora was really burnout.

“By the way, you’ve become quite the talk of the town. ‘The Pure-Hearted Nightingale’.”

“That’s also another thing that stresses me out.”

Because of her cancelled engagement with Allan, the Marquis, or rather, Elias gave her a hefty amount of money as compensation. Thanks to that, she was able to completely pay all her family’s debts. But there was still a considerable amount left, so Nora decided to donate them all to the church.

It unexpectedly created quite a stir.

“The Azure Nightingale was said to be a pure-hearted lady who donated all the money she earned from her singing performances to the church. The Pure-Hearted Nightingale, they say.”

“Just how did this happen?!”

She started her part-time job as a singer because she needed money. And because she never had much, she had never donated to the church either.

The church definitely knew the truth and Nora hoped they could clear it up for her.

“How could they disclose it to the public? It should be private. That’s so unfair.”

“Isn’t it because they were grateful? Or perhaps it’s just publicity so they could receive more donations? Either way, it’s troublesome for you, I know.”

“I think that’s the reason why the number of customers who have been giving me strange looks have increased recently. But even if they look at me like that, there’s no more money left to donate.”

Some looked at her with malice, others eyed her pensively. They looked at her from different directions but in the end, they’re all the same.

Just because she was out of debt didn’t mean she became rich. She wanted to shout out to everybody that she had nothing more to donate.

“Hmm, I don’t think that’s it… But the number of strange people coming here certainly have increased, so the manager got a bit concerned. He told me to tell you that you can take a break until everything cools down.”

Indeed, after some time, people would naturally forget about it.

“Perfect timing. I needed to come with Perre for the domain inspection.”

“Domain inspection?”

“It’s actually Perre’s job but I’m tagging along. If… Elias comes here, can you tell him about it?”

As she asked for a favor, Flora raised her brows in doubt. “If you’re that concerned, you should tell him yourself. You’re lovers, remember?”

“But it’s temporary. Considering a lot of factors such as sending a formal letter to Marquis Callum, etc., it’s impossible for us to be together in the end. Besides, I want to stay away from Elias for a while.”

Looking at Nora, Flora pondered for a moment before heaving a sigh. ‘There’s nothing you can do, I know. But well, who knows what the future holds?”
