Chapter 50: Very Much Indebted For His Kind Gesture

Ning Youyou had a good night’s sleep.

However, a sudden ring from her phone had disrupted her morning.

Reluctantly, she opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling for a few seconds, trying to make sense of her surroundings. She then realized that it was her phone that was ringing.

With weariness, she reached out to the bedside table to grab her phone. “Hello?”

“I’m sorry for calling you at this hour. I hope I’m not disturbing you.”

She paused for a while to think who the caller was; it turned out to be Yi Beichen.

“Beichen, it’s you.”

“Youyou, you must’ve forgotten about the weekend getaway that I told you about.” He continued with a suppressed laugh, “Qianya was right. We do need to give you a call in advance.”

Ning Youyou remained silent.

“Get ready. I’ll get Qianya first, and we’ll head over to your place together. All right, that’s about it. See you later.”

In hindsight, she finally remembered about the plan that she had promised Beichen to join. A short trip would be great to get Qianya away from the family feud.

She recalled her promise and jumped out of bed all of a sudden.

Something fell from the bed as soon as she got up. She looked down and was surprised that it was a men’s jacket.

Puzzled, she stood in a state of bewilderment.

The unfamiliar surroundings reminded her that it was not home; in fact, it was more like a hotel’s suite.

How did she end up here?

She hesitated for a moment as waves of memories from last night flashed into her mind, including the account of this particular jacket.

Her face registered dismay at the thought of last night’s events. Hastily, she packed all of her belongings, including the high-class men’s jacket, and left the room.

“Excuse me, was there a man who checked in with me last night?”

The receptionist smiled at her as she said, “Yes, miss.”

She continued to explain to Ning Youyou to ease her doubt. “The gentleman left the hotel after he sent you to the room. All room charges have been fully paid. Would you like to check out or extend your stay?”

“Check out, please,” Ning Youyou replied hesitantly.

She called for a ride to get home as soon as possible. She needed to get home before Lu Beichen reached her place.

Besides, her parents must be worried sick.

She struggled to recall what had happened last night, but all she could get was a headache.

She remembered drinking quite a lot of wine earlier on. Apparently, it was him who sent her to the hotel, which she did not remember. She could not even recall if she had said something wrong or misbehaved around him.

A wave of color flushed her cheeks at the thought of her ridiculous behavior. She only started drinking, much to the displeasure of what she had encountered during the ball. With a sigh, she admitted that drinking too much wine was really a bad habit of hers.

She took a look at the jacket that he had left behind for her. Indeed, she felt very much indebted for his kind gesture.

Her parents were out for a walk when she got home, which was great. She had fortunately escaped from being interrogated about her whereabouts last night. In haste, she took a quick shower before changing into a casual outfit.
