Chapter 48: What An Affectionate Couple

The waiter was interrupted before he could assist her.

“Hello, I’m the restaurant’s manager. We’re delighted to have you here this evening. To celebrate your arrival as our 100th guest, we’re pleased to announce that your meal is completely free of charge.”

Ning Youyou could not process the information, so she stared at the man in confusion.

The restaurant’s manager? Free-of-charge? That’s awesome!

She believed that the complimentary meal was a sign of good luck. In addition to the free meal, she was also given a bouquet of roses before they left the restaurant. Apparently, the reason for everything was that she was the 100th guest of the evening,

“Mu, see! I’m not so unlucky, after all. We just had a free meal!”

She staggered to her feet, swaying a little as she walked, with a bouquet of roses in her hand and a broad smile on her face.

Contrary to her smiling countenance, Mu Shaoqing walked next to her, expressionless.

The woman was truly muddle-headed. Out of all the available restaurants, she had to pick the restaurant that he owned. The location was situated in the most expensive district in the city, so one could easily imagine the price.

As the boss of the restaurant, his bill was, of course, waived.

The manager quickly cleared out space as soon as he arrived, which was why they were the only two guests of the evening.

Ning Youyou walked to the side and stopped to take a look at him.

“Mu, thank you. I had fun tonight.”

Mu Shaoqing only stared at her, quietly.

“I’d better get going,” she said while marching towards the middle of the road.

“Watch out!”

With sharp eyes, he saw the danger coming and quickly pulled her back from the road. A car sped past her without any sign of slowing down. Had she stood where she was, she would have been knocked down.

Was she looking for death?

Before Mu Shaoqing could point out her fault, he realized that the woman in his arms was not exactly responsive.

He quickly checked on her and was displeased. She had already fallen asleep!

Right away, he carried her in his arms and called for a taxi ride.

A taxi happened to drive by, so it stopped for them to get in.

The driver seemed happy. Excitedly, he looked back and said, “Sir, your girlfriend looks very drunk!”

Mu Shaoqing was indifferent to his remark. “To the Empire Hotel,” he said icily.

The driver gave him a brief response and began driving to the said location. On his way, he kept looking at the passengers at the back from the rearview mirror and found more reason for astonishment. The man looked sternly cool, but his usual apathy was no longer present when he cared for the woman. He was so gentle and tenderly. “What an affectionate couple,” the driver thought.

Mu Shaoqing watched as the woman in his arms comfortably leaned on his body for support. The backseat became a little crowded because she was not sitting properly. She was somewhat lying on him with her face on his chest.

“Hmm,” she muttered while moving closer to him.

Mu Shaoqing was stunned by her pettishly charming manner, so he did not push her away.

The manager from the Empire Hotel was notified of Mu Shaoqing’s arrival, so he quickly got the room ready for him.

In the hotel’s presidential suite, Mu Shaoqing put her down gently on the bed to avoid waking her up. Thoughtfully, he covered her under the sheets to keep her warm.

He stood by the side of her bed and stared at her for a while before leaving the room.
