The annual ball of the Zhou Feng Corporation was truly a fine spectacle, which allowed all the company’s employees to dine grandly.

It was a feast of scrumptious dishes, accompanied by bottles of authentic French red wine, which was truly an event of high standards.

During the prize-giving ceremony, many outstanding performances were acknowledged and rewarded with unbelievably great prizes.

After the feast, it was finally time for the grand finale – the dance.

It was time for the attendees to take their partners out to the dance floor. The venue was very spacious enough to accommodate up to a hundred people. As soon as the music played, the dancers started to sway.

“What is that? Look! Their partners can’t even dance properly. How embarrassing! Also, take a look at their gowns. Are those even gowns? They look like they’re simply wrapped in a rag. What about their character? Where’s their style? They look so plain and mundane.” The frown on Xiao Lan’s face showed that she was displeased.

Ning Youyou followed her gaze and saw a few women who were dancing on the dance floor.

They were the employees of BLOVE as well. If she was not mistaken, those women were also the ones who made fun of Xiao Hong and Xiao Lan in public during the annual ball last year.

She looked at their male counterparts and wondered.

They looked fine, but there was something odd about them. Perhaps it was their lack of posh.

“Hey, there you are! I thought I saw some familiar faces during dinner. It turns out; it’s really you! I thought you were going to skip the ball this year because of what happened last time.”

There was a note of sarcasm in her voice. Ning Youyou turned around, only to see Su Tingting along with the manager. She was walking towards them with her hand wrapped around his arm.

“Manager. Ms. Su,” Ning Youyou politely greeted.

Su Tingting shot her an unfriendly glance before turning her attention to the men who were seated next to Xiao Lan and Xiao Hong. “Hey, who are they? Are they your boyfriends?”

Almost immediately, Xiao Lan grabbed the muscular man’s arm and addressed him affectionately, “Darling, forgive me, I’ve forgotten to introduce you. This is our manager, a man of great reputation. Next to him is his beloved.”

The man did not say much. Instead, he simply gave them a nod.

There was an undercurrent of resentment in her acceptance of the way she was introduced.

Su Tingting then glanced at Ning Youyou.

“Ning Youyou, everyone else has a partner but you. Where’s your date?”

Ning Youyou was completely baffled.

She certainly did not see the conversation coming. Smilingly, she looked at her with an awkward attempt to explain her situation. “He’s…”

“Youyou’s date is still caught in traffic. He just called and told her to wait just a little while more. I’m sure that he’ll stun the guests tonight and give Youyou a surprise!” Xiao Lan could not help but interrupt.

Su Tingting laughed scornfully. “I bet he will. Well, I just hope that you’re not going to turn tail and run away.”

The last remark was a subtle stab at Ning Youyou. Pleased, Su Tingting then leaned towards the manager and said, “Darling, let’s go for a dance!”

The manager delightfully agreed to her, but before he went away, he suddenly turned around and said, “All of you, cheer up. Don’t just sit around in the corner. This is a major celebration; you should enjoy yourself to the fullest!”
