Chapter 60: A Decisive Victory

The two Supreme Gargoyles had 500,000 Health Points each. Although they were the weakest among Level 50 Leader monsters simply based on Health Points alone, they had a special Skill, Petrification.

Petrification: In this state, one is granted 95% immunity to any damage. One’s Health Points will be restored at a maximum rate of 1% per second. After sustaining a strong attack, this state will be lifted. One can re-enter this state five minutes after exiting it.

The 95% immunity to any damage meant that even Trinity’s flaming arrow would only cause a few thousand points of damage. A maximum of 5,000 Health Points could be restored per second at the maximum restoration rate.

In other words, as long as the two Gargoyles entered the Petrification state, nothing could stop them from restoring their Health Points unless a group of people attacked them at once.

Although the Petrification state would be broken as long as one suffered a certain amount of damage, they would probably be filled with disgust if those who did not have high enough damage output began fighting with them.

Even Liu Ming couldn’t help but frown when he saw the two Boss-level monsters that looked like a sham.

At this moment, changes occurred to the two Supreme Gargoyles’ skin. The Supreme Gargoyles immediately got out of their Petrification state and turned into two gigantic demons that soared to the sky in just mere moments.

Immediately afterward, the two Supreme Gargoyles opened their large and hideous mouths at the same time, spitting out numerous energy bombs at Liu Ming and Trinity.

Upon seeing the Gargoyles attacking, Trinity warned Liu Ming to be careful before drawing her bow and shooting a flaming arrow at the Gargoyle on the right.

After taking note of the situation, Liu Ming glanced at the Gargoyle on the left. He then raised his sword and slashed at the Door of Darkness without hesitation.

What a joke. Liu Ming currently only had two long-range attacking Skills in total. Their effects also weren’t great for dealing with targets in the air.

If the two Supreme Gargoyles were to come down, Liu Ming would still be able to defeat them. However, they were now in midair, and Liu Ming really could not hit them for a while.

Instead of standing there foolishly and wasting time, Liu Ming might as well demolish the Door of Darkness and complete the quest earlier.

After all, Trinity and Liu Ming were in the Darkness Camp’s base camp. They did not have time to attack and kill the two existences that seemed like shams.

Although the Supreme Gargoyles could only be considered alchemical lifeforms, they were just as intelligent as high-level NPCs. Thus, upon discovering that Liu Ming had ignored it, the Supreme Gargoyle on the left immediately rushed forward and attacked Liu Ming vigorously and hysterically.

Upon seeing this, Liu Ming immediately dodged the attack, causing the Supreme Gargoyle to collide with the white bone platform, and a huge hole formed in the platform.

Although the white bone platform was not created using the bones of Wyrms or Titans, it was definitely much harder than ordinary steel since it could be used as the Door of Darkness’s formation and had also been strengthened by a Dark spell.

The fact that the Supreme Gargoyle was able to cause such damage to the white bone platform showed how strong the collision impact was.

If it were an ordinary monster, it would definitely freeze for a few seconds, even if it did not get struck by such a strong collision.

After knocking into the white bone platform, the Supreme Gargoyle immediately got back on its feet, turned around with flexibility and speed that didn’t fit its massive size, and spat out a few energy bombs at Liu Ming.

The attack was highly defensive yet flexible and nimble. All of a sudden, Liu Ming could not find a chance to strike the Supreme Gargoyle.

However, the Supreme Gargoyle’s long-range attacking ability was, fortunately, terrible. Hence, it similarly could not do anything to Liu Ming.

Thus, the two of them soon reached a stalemate.

On the other hand, Trinity and the other Supreme Gargoyle were engaged in a far more intense battle.

Several black energy bombs continuously fell from the sky like meteors, landing around Trinity. As this happened, Trinity shot various flaming arrows at the Supreme Gargoyle.

However, even though the two parties fought vigorously, they would probably still need another hour to determine the victor.

Liu Ming and Trinity were now in the city center. Even though most of the Darkness Camp’s high-level monsters and NPCs were conducting a massacre outside the city, others would be coming in, at most, ten minutes or so, let alone an hour. After all, once the Door of Darkness was destroyed, it would no longer be as simple as one or two people besieging the Darkness Camp.

Clearly, the longer the situation was delayed, the more disadvantageous it would be to Liu Ming and Trinity. However, Liu Ming soon developed a bolder idea when Trinity managed to make the Supreme Gargoyle on the right retreat by several meters just by launching an exploding arrow at it.

Hence, Liu Ming immediately exclaimed at Trinity, “Mentor Trinity, please help make this Gargoyle on my side retreat so that I can go straight to destroying the Door of Darkness.”

After hearing Liu Ming’s words, Trinity was stunned for half a second before she nodded and agreed.

Right on the heels of it, Trinity placed an arrow on her bow and pulled it back to launch a flaming arrow at the Gargoyle that was not far in front of Liu Ming, blasting it and causing it to move backward by a few steps. It also shook its head in confusion.

Upon seeing this, Liu Ming immediately took advantage of the time lag and rushed up to the white stone platform. He then slashed the Magic Array in the center, which was the Door of Darkness’s true core, with all his might.

However, the entire Door of Darkness suddenly warped at this moment, and a giant arm—which looked similar to the Supreme Gargoyles’ arms but was the color of larvae—stretched out from the Door of Darkness and scratched Liu Ming ruthlessly.

In an instant, a high damage value emerged from Liu Ming’s body. Had Liu Ming not reactivated Holy Protection a long time ago, the scratch would have probably caused Liu Ming to lose two-thirds of his Health Points.

The other party seemed to have realized that they had not managed to kill Liu Ming in one blow. Hence, the arm quickly scratched Liu Ming again.

Liu Ming was still bewildered because of the sudden attack. However, he immediately flew into a rage after realizing that the other party still wanted to take a mile after getting an inch. Hence, he began resisting the claw and attacking the Door of Darkness.

Under Liu Ming’s constant attacks, the Door of Darkness, which was not too sturdy, soon disappeared without a trace amidst the distortion.

With the Door of Darkness’s destruction, the two Supreme Gargoyles, which were flaunting their fangs and claws, immediately entered states of Petrification and remained still.

In fact, the Gargoyle on the right—that had been flying in the sky—fell to the ground right after entering the Petrification state. It then landed on the ground and formed a huge hole in it.

However, the two Gargoyles involuntarily fell into a Petrification state this time. It seemed like they had once again turned into two lifeless statues because they had lost the support of mana.

In addition to causing the two guarding Supreme Gargoyles to lose their lives, the Door of Darkness’s destruction also made the sky within the area of Kelop City, originally somewhat dark, to become bright again instantly.

For a moment, the Brilliance Camp’s generals were invigorated, while the Darkness Camp’s high-level NPCs had major changes in expression.

The Brilliance Camp had finally emerged victorious.
