Although her cheek was red and swollen, Shen Qinglan didn’t seem to care at all. Seeing that, Grandpa Shen sighed heavily.

“Aunt Song, bring some ice.” Fu Hengyi called out.

Aunt Song was not unfamiliar with Fu Hengyi—she was well aware of the relationship between the two families. Hearing that, she hurried to the kitchen to get ice cubes.

“Grandpa, I really am okay. Go back to keep grandma company. She would have heard all the noise just now, you can explain it to her. I will not leave right away, in case she should get worried.”

Thinking of his old wife, Grandpa Shen was also kind of worried. He looked closely at his granddaughter’s face again, “What has happened today, I believe, has nothing to do with you. I know exactly what kind of person you are. Grandpa believes in you.”

A stream of warmth flowed to Shen Qinglan’s heart.

“Grandpa Shen, go and look after Grandma Shen first. I’ll take care of her for you.”

Thinking of something, Grandpa Shen didn’t oppose. Shen Qinglan raised her eyebrows slightly in doubt.

“Let’s go. I’ll help you downstairs,” Fu Hengyi said once Grandpa Shen had left.

“It is my face that is hurt, not my feet.” Shen Qinglan was emotionless.

“Are you sure you can still walk?” Fu Hengyi took a close look at her feet.

Shen Qinglan’s beautiful eyes blinked. Unexpectedly, he had noticed that she had hurt her feet. Caught off guard, she had been pulled hard by Shen Xitong. Although she had stabilized herself right away and hadn’t fallen down, her feet had ended up twisting anyway.

Not wanting to show weakness in front of Fu Hengyi, she lifted her feet and then took steps downstairs. With the first step, she frowned slightly; in an instant, however, her eyebrows had relaxed and she continued to walk down.

Fu Hengyi was standing just beside her, paying attention to her changing look. Seeing her behave as if nothing had happened, he was somewhat annoyed.

All of a sudden, he picked Shen Qinglan up in his arms and strode toward the living room. Shen Qinglan subconsciously held his neck. The two were so close that Shen Qinglan could even smell the faint fragrance of his body—it smelled of jasmine, the exclusive fragrance of bath lotion.

Shen Qinglan’s breath warmed Fu Hengyi’s neck, slightly tickling it. He couldn’t help but hold her tighter.

He put her down on the sofa—a little rudely, with a trace of inexplicable anger. He himself didn’t know what was wrong with him. He just could not bear to see her not take her body seriously.

Fu Hengyi squatted down in front of Shen Qinglan, regardless of her halting him, picked up her right foot, and rolled up her trouser leg. All at once, Shen Qinglan’s ankle, which was as swollen as a steamed bun, was exposed in front of his eyes.

Fu Hengyi’s eyebrows tightened as he stared straight at Shen Qinglan, “Doesn’t it hurt?”

Shen Qinglan couldn’t help cursing him in her heart. She was not a robot after all, how could she not hurt? It was just that the pain, compared with what she had experienced before, seemed so insignificant. She had gotten used to it.

Seeing Shen Qinglan’s calm face, Fu Hengyi couldn’t help turning gloomy. He pressed his fingers heavily against her red and swollen ankle. Shen Qinglan’s look suddenly changed, and finally a trace of pain appeared on her face.

Fu Hengyi took his hand back, satisfied, a smile emerging in his eyes. Shen Qinglan gritted her teeth. He was simply a pervert out of nowhere, who liked to bully the wounded.

Fortunately, Aunt Song came over in time. Fu Hengyi took the ice bags from her, handed one to Shen Qinglan, and put the other ice bag on her ankle.

The sudden coolness made Shen Qinglan shiver uncontrollably. She frowned slightly.

Aunt Song smiled faintly at Fu Hengyi’s action. Among the three children of that family, Aunt Song liked Shen Qinglan the best.

Although Shen Qinglan seemed to be indifferent and cold to others all the time, yet Aunt Song, the old and experienced maid of the Shen family—who had been working for the Shen family since Shen Qinglan’s father was a child—knew the temperament of the three children very well.

Although Shen Qinglan looked cold superficially, deep in the heart she actually was the kindest.

“You are just a girl. You don’t have to be so tough.” Fu Hengyi said lightly, as gentle as an elder brother.

Shen Qinglan looked at him, eyebrows raised. What had happened that day was actually because of him. She also knew about the rumor that had widely spread in the capital—after all, she had a little gossip girl, Yu Xiaoxuan, around her.

As long as Yu Xiaoxuan knew about something, Shen Qinglan would know as well.

Shen Qinglan indeed had no interest in the so-called chosen daughter-in-law of the Fu family, but what her grandfather had said the night before had aroused her curiosity about the man involved.

Fu Hengyi’s appearance, even to Shen Qinglan, who had seen countless handsome guys, was still superior.

In her memory, there were a few men who could compare to Fu Hengyi—such as Han Yi, the one she had met the other day, her elder brother, as well as the one… It was a pity, however, that the man had—

Thinking of that person, Shen Qinglan was a little distracted. It was water under the bridge, and he seemed to have been away from her memory for a long time. The past days indeed seemed to have been buried by the passing of time.

Shen Qinglan got absent-minded for a brief moment. She soon came back to her senses, and her sight fell on the man who was carefully applying ice to her ankle.

Fu Hengyi squatted there, with his head slightly lowered. Shen Qinglan looked down at him and, from her point of view, only the top of his hair was visible.

Probably because he used to be a soldier, he had short hair.

Such a hairstyle was hard to keep, which would make one easily look outdated. However, it didn’t affect his appearance at all. His hair was stiff and hard; it was said that those with hard hair also had a tough temperament.

With his army uniform off, he seemed to be rid of his ferocity as well, and even his look was gentle and warm.

Shen Qinglan had spaced out, totally unaware that he had raised his head.

Four eyes met. Fu Hengyi’s eyes were deep, like an unfathomable sea, exuding some kind of mystery, attracting people to explore.

Shen Qinglan blinked unconsciously—she could not help but believe in her heart that that man was just poison. No wonder Shen Xitong was so fascinated by him.

“There is nothing between me and Shen Xitong. What she said is not true.” Fu Hengyi suddenly said.

Shen Qinglan looked at him, a little confused. Why did he need to explain his relationship with Shen Xitong to her?

Then she remembered. Shen Xitong had said that she would not have competed with her had she known that she liked Hengyi as well.

“Shen Xitong said that I pushed her down the stairs, and my mother believed her. What do you think?” Shen Qinglan said faintly, in a clear and clean voice.

Although Shen Xitong had never said that she had been pushed down the stairs by Shen Qinglan, she had suggested it through her words.

“I’m sure you would not.” Fu Hengyi said firmly.

Shen Qinglan raised her eyebrows. “Why?”

“Because you don’t even care to do that.”
